June 2013 Bandsters - How are you doing?
AZ Gary replied to LessLee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm still holding around the 80-90 loss mark. Hate to admit it but since the holidays, (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and all the little ones in between) I kept saying I'll get back on track next week. So last week I finally made my self do it. Started back with the shakes to kick start things again. Supposed to be 112 here today which make getting out for a walk almost impossible. -

The holidays sure put a halt to my progress. Too many good things to eat out there. So time to reboot the process again. Glad I kept a diary with Fitness Pal and know what worked and what didn't. Time for a week or two of the Protein shakes to get the scale moving again. -
Why the rush to lose? You spent a lifetime getting to where you are now and you are going to spend the rest of your life losing and maintaining. Pick the one you can follow and live with.

I got a pack of three rubber band bracelets in various colors off Amazon. 3 for $14. http://www.amazon.com/Lap-band-Medical-Alert-Silicone-Bands/dp/B0044Y75KQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390933781

June 2013 Bandsters - How are you doing?
AZ Gary replied to LessLee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I was a little bad over the holidays and fell off the wagon but didn't do too much damage. Guess I can never go home to Louisiana because the food is so good and so bad for you. But getting back on track by doing the 2 week shakes for two meals and a reasonable meal for supper. I upgraded my Fitbit from the Zip to the Force and I love it. Only wish it had a standard micro USB charging port instead of the proprietary one, but I can live with it. I like that it doubles as a watch and counts stairs. We were at the top of the Superdome and I knew it was a climb, but didn't realize it was almost 8 flights after a couple of trips back and forth. Hope everyone else has a great new year, -

Wishing all my fellow June bandsters a Happy Holiday. Will be with family this month and none of them have seen me since starting this journey. It's going to be interesting. The difficult part will be the food in the New Orleans acting like sirens luring me to the rocky coast. -
Could I eventually lose 100 lbs with help from the band?
AZ Gary replied to Wendydarling19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is very possible. I am approaching the 100 mark a little more than 6 months into it. It all depends on what you choose to put into it (Attitude) and choose not to put into it (excess food) -
I'm going to keep trying to like the new site. I was pretty regular on checking it, but the downtime got me out of the routine. I'm glad you got the DNS aliases from the old sites switched. landbandtalk sort of sung, the new name you need a spell checker just to find it. It doesn't roll off the tongue (or fingers) in the same way. But lots of good things about the new site software though.

Essential Questions For The Dr? Consultation Next Week
AZ Gary replied to desertpixie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before my consult I made of point of checking my doc's profile on the state medical board site. Any issues with the doc will show up there. -
How did the first meeting go?

I had a minor bout with a piece of dry turkey. I've had worse before. Gained a pound but well within the usual fluctuations.

Congrats on crossing into the 100 area. I get to cross a 100 mark twice, the first hopefully by the end of the year marking 100 pounds lost and then much further down the road to onederland. Had a small fill this morning and they said I was the first one in that managed to lose over the Thanksgiving holiday. Glad I made some headway leading up to it as a cushion. They said I was almost green according to the amount of Fluid in the band, but I have been ahead of the game on the loss. I am now making another pass through my closet getting rid of the bigger clothes Everything is baggy these days. For once looking forward to getting clothes for Christmas. -

Is it just me or does anyone else not spend as much time on here since the redesign of the website and merging of the different boards into one 'Branded Experience?' Maybe it was just the week of the site being closed weaned me from it. -
What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
AZ Gary replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I typically use My Fitness Pal to see the impact of eating at xyz prior to going in the door. My wife has been on a non banded diet along with me and we have found that splitting meals works best. Even then a lot of times we will have a take home bag. -
