Hi, my name is Quahog, and I'm addicted to ice cream....
Quahog replied to Quahog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope this is my last dish of ice cream. -
Since it is summer vacation time, what about calling local highschool for recommended sitters. Around here, if you call guidance, they recommend kids. Good luck to you.

What about spanx or spandex bike shorts to hold all in place? Way to go on your training and motivation!

You inspire me to do better. Look how long ago I was banded and how little I've lost.

Protizyme chocolate cake is my favorite. I mix with decaf coffee and ice in a blender. It's not starbucks, but I pretend! -
Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
Quahog replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Self pride, more energy, hold my head up a bit higher, I feel like I am rescuing myself. -
Family will question/disagree with your choice because of many reasons as you know: ignorance, worry, envy, etc. You know what is best for you. I explained to my doubting thomas relatives my reasons for surgery and moved the conversation on to derail their opinions. Their opinions weren't going to change my mind. Some relatives are so judgmental I avoided telling them. Good luck to you, and your doubters hopefully will change their thinking or at least be quiet about their opinions.

Hey Ron! Welcome. This site has lots to offer. And the band has been a pal to me for the ladt 6 months. I am slow to lose. Many others are much faster. But it is staying off and that is a big improvement. Best of luck to you!

You sound very caring. I hope she comes around and thinks about your feelings too. Family is soooo complicated.

Very very happy for you!! -
Appreciate the honesty about frustration. All your posts have helped me a great deal. The success stories are inspirational, but hearing from those in the trenches truly are the life lines I need. Thank you.
-
Celebrate your accomplishment! You are an inspiration.

I am battling to lose. I am battling to exercise. Somedays I lose the battle, but I WILL win the war. Any other warriors out there? Those that struggle but could use a pal that gets it. Yesterday I tried couch to 5k for the first time. Thought it would be another thing I would try and give up on or fail. But holy cow, I did it. I finished!! Day one, I won the battle! Take today off....thank goodness because my arthritic knees are screaming at me. But I won the battle! And I actually look forward to day 2 tomorrow. (that was NOT a typo!!)

Lellow, that program sounds great. Hope I can find it. The more knowledge the better. -
First, hi Lisa! Nice to meet you. Second, HOLY COW, You areliving a lifetime movie!!! Give c to 5k a try. Not easy for me, but, ready to try again tomorrow. Feel free to pm me or visit here to vent or get a pep talk. I definitely understand the sandwich generation stress. If it isn't the elderly parents, it's the teenagers. Just spent $40,000 for my son to be on academic probation his freshman yr of college!

Offensive FB post of the day...what do you all think? obesity a disease?
Quahog replied to beanie80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't feel I have a disease, but rather a disorder. Much like how I feel about alcoholism, if a person knows obesity runs in their family, the stakes are high to not start, than try to stop later. Don't drink, don't over eat, don't take that first puff, etc etc I have always thought diseases are out of one's control, but a disorder can be prevented or at least there are steps to try to prevent. I know that isn't what the ama says, but like I said in the beginning, it's how I feel. -
Thank you for the laugh Cherie Guilt Murphy!

How does it physically feel ?
Quahog replied to readysetg070113's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first few days may depend on your tolerance for pain. Naturally, there will be some due to having a procedure. And you may get buyers remorse. But, after a few days, extreme cases a few weeks, you will feel like yourself but better because you've lost weight. I don't think anyone posted about the gas pains. You may get pains in your back and or shoulders, they hurt, but there are ways to ease them(ice, heat, gas x, moving around a lot). Somethibg to think about, when you deliver a baby, it hurts but you give life. Then you forget the pain. With wls, you give a new chance on life to yourself, it hurts, but you'll forget the pain. : ) -
You guys just might be the pep talks I need. Thanks! My losses have been sloooooow. Thought it would be more in 6 months, but if I lose the same amt in the next six months, by years end that is pretty decent.
