  1. In case the scale or mirror or joints or jeans aren't making you smile today, maybe this creative lady will.....

I read your post and it made me think of a song from the movie Flash Dance, "What A Feeling". Congratulations and I prayer I will know that feeling too someday.

    Finish Line in Sight

I should have a bachelors and masters degree in worrying! So I can relate to your angst. Yes, you can have complications BUT weight issues can cause lots of health complications as you know. In the world and on this site you'll hear the band loved and hated. If you follow ALL your doctors directions you not only will have weight loss success, you will minimize the chance of a complication early on or later. Day of surgery for me,only slightly achy thanks to pain meds. Some gas pains in my shoulders, but walking and moving(especially my arms) got rid of it fairly quickly. Incisions tender for a week. In a month I could exercise. My only complication, 9 days post op I had severe cramps from constipation. My fault, didn't drink enough water. Went to er, (tmi tmi tmi) and was fine within a couple hours. Good luck to you.
  5. Thank you all.......NO ICE CREAM CONSUMPTIONis posting this thread!

    surgery tomorrow!!

Try to distract yourself(easier said than done). Anything good on tv, a crossword or sudoku that demand your attention. A book to make your eyes tired. Or just keep on posting here. I remember my band day eve, clock moved so slowly! Be sure your alarm is set so you don't miss it!! Can you imagine?!
  7. I think I will take the opportunity to sample as many crystal light packets as I can. I bottle per hour, also per state! But a s'more pure Protein bar as my 4th of July treat!! Thanks
  8. Taking a 5.5 hour trip on the 4th. Haven't had a long ride since banding. Any suggestions on curbing the shock to my system of not munching the entire trip?
  9. I have had several fills and still eat 1200 cal. Now preband, this would have me losing weight, so I should lose slow, but steady shouldn't I? Thoughts?
  10. Enjoy a laugh compliments of a crazy friend of mine. -Quahog
  11. The beginning is the hardest. Then you begin losing and you will be elated. Try to hang in there and be very upfront with your doctor at your appointment.
  12. Good and yummy choice.
  13. You are more than welcome! : )
  14. Sherrintxs, Let us know what you decide on. And most importantly, enjoy the day! What about punch: diet cranberry, crystal light, loads of floating fruit and cute summer cups?
  15. Discloser and fully reading forms is so important. I think most people focus on their surgeon's ability. I tend to focus more on the anestegiologist(sp?)!! But I'm a worry wart.

    surgery tomorrow!!

Happy Banding Day to you! My only regret getting mine in the winter is that resting outside in the sun would have been awesome. You will do terrific, and every day be happier than the day before!

  19. Thanks for thinking about the ones that haven't educated themselves. I sometime wish Alex and Ani would make a lapband health alert charm.

Need to get back on track!

How does the buddy system sound? I'm also a Dec bander that needs dedication and motivation. Can I check in with you daily? Report cals and exercise? If it would help you, I know it would help me.
  21. You guys are too much! I really appreciate the thoughtful ideas. I am going to try the reward idea (thanks aviva!) I'm a reader, so a new book may do the trick!!! : )
  22. Thanks for sharing that you understand Lellow. And it helps to know you can fight the urge.
