    Nausea after surgery?

I was put on acid reflux meds. Huge improvement overnight on how easy it was to eat and drink. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Don't worry about it. It's all for better health in the long run. Sure, I still have flare ups and am zapped of energy a lot of times. But I'm motivated and I haven't felt that in years! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Breaking down

I don't know what changed. I'm 7 days post-op from a band to sleeve revision. I've been doing great surgically but came down with bronchitis. Nothing has bothered me with other people eating around me. Pre-op, post-op diets all went/going well. I took a little nap and I just came into the living room with my family and I was hit with the huge smell of food and everyone is eating. I almost fell over it was so strong. I started bawling. I couldn't stop. Weirdest thing. Tearing up now writing this. I sat down and thought "what I have done? I can't be like this and break down like a toddler for the rest of my life." Please tell me I'm normal and it will pass. I want this. I've worked so hard for this. But I broke down today and that's not normal. I'm still sticking to my water, broth, and nebulizer for now. Thanks for letting me vent.
  4. A few days after surgery I got hit with bronchitis so I'm probably not a good one to ask about recovery. I didn't need any pain killers after leaving the hospital. The surgery part wasn't too bad and recovery went well, except for the bronchitis. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I have chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, RA, and osteoarthritis, plus a few other little things like a vitamin D deficiency and Hypersomnia. I'm 2 months post-op. Some days I feel great, some days I don't. My symptoms really revolve around the weather. (We had tornadoes yesterday so I felt that coming for a few days) anyway, the hardest is all the medication i was on. Trying to figure out what I can and cannot take anymore. I'm currently at my doctors office right now to talk about something other than NSAIDS. I'm tired but I do have more energy if that makes any sense at all. I don't mind getting up to do things but I am exhausted. I'm still not back up to my full doses I had pre-op and I miss it. But I had the surgery in hopes of getting a little better and eventually being able to back off some of these pills. I seem to be happier and I think it's just because it's getting easier to move this big old body around. Nausea after surgery?

I never had any nausea either. My doctor gave me some anti-nausea pills just in case I did though. I take it back...im 2 months post-op and I've been nauseous twice but it's because I ate too much. Once I threw up I felt instantly better. And there is never a whole lotto throw up so it was easy. But right after surgery it was fine, no nausea. It's different for everyone so just prepared but not anxious. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Hardly anyone knows that i had weight-loss surgery...AGAIN! and even few people know that I went to Mexico to have my band to sleeve revision. I'm 5 days post-op. (June 8 2017). I'm not sure if I'm ready to recommend it to all of my friends yet...however...I followed their pre-op without a single cheat. I lost 23 pounds in the pre-op diet but even more importantly I have been pain free. No gas pains. No about pains. Flying home only 3 days post-op was excruciating but only because it was so exhausting. So I may be getting closer to recommending it. My insurance is great as long as you don't mention weight-loss surgery. So my lapband surgeon actually recommended Mexico and the hospital. My revision was going to be about $28k in the US. Mexico was $4900. That's a big incentive. If you're going to Mexico here are some things I learned. I'm writing them down here so I don't forget too... Bring... Your own towel or two Your own pillow (I brought mine and it helped having it in the hospital and on the plane) Baby wipes for the bathroom. It gets messy. Water shoes (a lot of women wore slippers but I've never been real good at them. Plus I could keep these on while sleeping. And you need them for the shower anyway) Giant sanitary pads (Mother Nature is a b***h and I got my period the day after surgery. Tampons were not happening. Plus it helps with the surprise "juice fart") Extension cord for plugging in phone chargers and cpap machines Your own bandages and tape. For after you leave the hospital. I also brought juice and protein shakes in my checked baggage. I wasn't sure what they had for a liquid diet and if I was going to like it. They had jello and broth and they were delicious. My US surgeon also gave me a prescription for nausea and pain for the flight home. I ended up not needing either but I was so glad it was there just in case. Lysol/Clorox Wipes...I'm a bit of a germ freak Clothes. They have gowns of course but you will be up walking around so much you need something else. I wore loose Capri pull-on pants and giant tshirts. Several sets. Not fancy. Loose comfy old panties Compression socks. Several pairs. They have their own and they are stickers about keeping them on until you get home! I understand the importance. But so glad I had brought a couple of pairs. A very supportive person to go with you. My husband is a super hero without a cape. Unlike my roommates friend she brought. Gave her a sip of her beer she snuck into the hospital! No joke!!! A drink of beer about 24 hours out of surgery! Which brings me to this...whatever you can get private room!! They have them. I saw them. My roommate was so annoying! A phone and a tablet going all day and night with loud games and videos...even at 3am!!! I probably should have brought her some headphones! Bring yourself some too. At least some ear plugs. One of the best things I did was set up a private Facebook Group with only 9 of my closest friends and family that knew what was going on. I could keep everyone updated (in the terribly spotty WiFi service. Don't believe the free WiFi pitch. It's there. sometimes. If you're lucky.) Anyway, my husband kept everyone updated there too after surgery until I was coherent enough. It was great. I loved seeing that everyone was praying for me. It was fun. Like home. Again, I'm not ready to fully recommend it. Maybe soon. I hear a lot of people wake up from surgery with "what did I just do?" Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

Yep. I did it in Mexico

I was at Mexico Bariatric Center. It did its job. There were things I didn't like. But I didn't pay for marble statues, stained glass, and arches. I paid for a good inexpensive sleeve. All the basics were there. They knew what they were doing. Healing well. How are you? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I'm 6 days post-op from a band to sleeve revision in Mexico with Dr Gutierrez. I had the band for 1 1/2 years. Same thing happened to me. Which is nothing. By one year it was completely full but I felt no restrictions. Ever. I lost about 25 pounds out of own will and work. My surgeon wanted to go in and reposition the band up higher on my stomach to shrink the pouch. But that would have cost almost as much as a sleeve surgery. I didn't want to spend another fortune to fix something that may not work again. So we decided on a sleeve. And in Mexico. My surgeon here at home actually recommended Mexico. I feel good. I really feel better after this surgery than the band. I have had no pain, nausea, etc. It's been great really. I know it's still early, but I'm hopeful. 10. I'm 5 days post-op from a band to sleeve revision in Mexico. We flew to San Diego, they picked us up at the airport and went straight to the hospital for blood work and EKG. Then they took us to a really nice hotel and had broth and jello for me. The next morning we went back for surgery. I stayed 2 nights. My husband had to stay at the hotel though. After discharge they took me back to his hotel for 1 night...with broth and jello. The next morning they took us back over the border to the airport and we flew home. We got to San Diego on Wednesday June 7. Surgery on June 8 and we flew home on Sunday June 11. I have no complaints. I was exhausted traveling home but not in pain. I had asked fir wheelchair assistance between gates. The hospital had everything down perfectly and I had no issues at all. No pain, vomiting, nausea, etc. I used Dr Gutierrez with Mexico Bariatric Center. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

    If it's God's will...

I wanted to check on you and see how you are doing and how your situatuon has turned out? Sometimes I think God is moving all His puzzle pieces around to fit just perfect. We cant see the big picture. Only our piece of the puzzle. I'm 5 days post-op from a band to sleeve revision. I did the surgery in Mexico. If you have questions, let me know. Happy to help. Oklahoma?

I am 5 days post-op and would like to find a physical support group to help encourage and check in on each other? Anyone from Oklahoma? Tulsa more specifically.? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Sorry...i hit reply too fast. I didn't have a catheter because they wanted me up and walking right away. I did have a drip line for 24 hours. But that clipped onto my pants. It was much easier than the band surgery. I flew to Mexico to have it done and flew home 3 days post-op. Request wheelchair transfers to gates. It's fast and easy and will save you. I was so exhausted but not in pain. And so thankful for the help! I was so scared of the pain. But it wasn't bad at all. I threw up one time. The first time I took a sip of water. It's perfectly normal. You can get nausea meds if it's a problem. They told me that most people that have vomiting and diareah after surgery are the ones that don't follow the pre-op diet. I did a 5 week high protein, low sugar diet and a 3 day liquid diet right before surgery. I followed it perfectly. I was terrified of failing and having to fly home while sick. So no cheats. I lost 23 pounds and never had nausea or diarrhea. My lapband surgery was hell. Ita been pretty easy in comparison. You'll be fine. You'll be almost 2 weeks post-op by then. You'll be feeling great. Follow instructions and relax. You are going to do great! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Walk walk walk! It sounds stupid and everyone says it! I flew 3 days post-op. Not painful but exhausting. Wear compression socks and move your feet around. I walked so much in the hospital and didn't have any gas pain! I had a band 1 1/2 years ago and the gas pain was the worst pain I had ever felt. So I walked and 2alked and walked. Worked! No gas pain at all. I am not 5 days post-op from a band to sleeve revision. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

Lap band revised to sleeve 6/9/2017 - poop

Glad to hear you're flowing now! I'm doing pretty good. Slow, but no pain. Just exhausted easily. I thunk im being overly cautious. Scared somwthing will start hurting. But im sooo hungry! This liquid diet isnt going to last long im afraid. I don't want to eat and mess anything up but I feel so hungry! And have since the minute I woke up from surgery. Everyone at the hospital just kept saying "ha! You're funny!" But I'm like, I'm hungry and I'm getting Hangry! But I've been good and only have done liquids and a little bit of Greek yogurt. Overall though, going well how about you? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any June Sleevers!?!

How is it with eating? I'm starving! I'm think maybe a little tuna might be ok. My doctor is so stuck on 4-6 of liquids for best healing and most weight loss. But I have got to eat something! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. I had a band to sleeve revision on June 8. This surgery was so much easier than the band. I assume it's from all the walking they had me do at the hospital. I hadn't had any gas pain at all and I haven't had any pain killers since leaving the hospital. Total day and night difference from my band surgery. So amazing testimonies...like... No gas pain No stomach pain Incisions healing well Can walk and move with no pain However...I got hit with bronchitis. This happened after the lapband surgery too. I went to my PCP a couple of weeks before surgery and said it felt like bronchitis coming in. She assured me it was just allergies. I can tell you now, definitely not allergies. The coughing has made my back and stomach sore. I thank God for my bipap because it gets air in me. It's awful! Does anyone else do this after surgery? I usually get bronchitis a few time a year but right after surgery is becoming a fad with me. I don't like it.

    My journey begins

I'm a June 8th sleever too! Doing well. It is hard to get down so much liquid. You're right, Popsicles and shakes do help! I hope you are doing better everyday! I walked so much around the hospital and I haven't had any gas pain. But...I had a lap band put in in Jan 2016 and that was the worst pain I had ever felt! They said it was trapped gas, in my shoulder! It was awful!! So I wanted to make sure I walked a lot this time. It really increases exhaustion but has tremendously decreased the pain. Good luck to you! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app

Lap band revised to sleeve 6/9/2017 - poop

I had a band to sleeve revision on June 8th! It took a couple of days to poo. And it's weird. Sorry to be disgusting...but let's be real...it's like juicy farts. It happens different for everyone. Especially with what you ate before surgery. Hopefully you are empty. It will build up. But it's more like a black sludge. My doctor assured me it's fine. Happy pooping. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
