If you chose NOT to tell about your LB, share your story please
LosingAimee replied to PuraVida37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wish I would've done this. I was so excited about my surgery, I told my family and closest friends....and my mother told some relatives... now I feel like everyone is constantly looking to see what I'm eating/losing. It's just added a lot more scrutiny and pressure. -
August Challenge
LosingAimee replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
210.5 today -
I had my surgery 5/30/13, the first couple weeks while I was healing I had no problems eating the suggested food quantity amounts. My doctor told me last week that at this point, I should be eating no more than 6-8oz per meal. Unfortunately, I know I eat more than that. I don't eat as much as I used to prior to my surgery, but not as little as I should. I'm already on my second fill 6.5cc on a 14cc band. I was hoping this last fill would make portion control a bit easier on me. Is this something I should realistically hope will get better down the road with more fills? Aimee

At this point, my surgeon allowed me to eat sugar free jell-o, sugar free puddings, and greek yogurt... did yours say anything regarding these? -

Exercise goal for August~ Exercise minimum 4x a week Date banded~ 5/30/13 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet~ 17lbs -
Mandi, what kind of nutritional plan are you following? I had mine done on 05/30/13, and I've lost a total of 18 lbs so far. I exercise a minimum of 3-4 times a week, and I wish I were losing the weight a little bit faster. I lost about 13 lbs the first month, and about 5 the following. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Feeling Satisfied
LosingAimee replied to rmalikone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope to maybe one day relate to this. For now, it's also a struggle for me to eat small portions, I'm praying additional fills will get me to this point. -

Four Months Pregnant with Lap Band
LosingAimee commented on newlife4nekaylyn's blog entry in newlife4nekaylyn's Blog
Wow that's beautiful news, congratulations!! Very exciting. Contact your surgeon as soon as possible, maybe he will unfill you a little bit, or not. Either way, you want to take care of this little miracle baby as much as you can. Best of luck! -

Hi Apples! I see you're surgeon is Dr. Choi... I just had mines done with him 5/30/13... He was great, my little incisions have healed beautifully... I'm actually surprised at how small most incisions were. The port one is about an inch and a half, but it's healing nicely as well. Let me know how it goes for you! Aimee -
During the weekdays I'm so lazy, I usually just stick to my protein shake or some cottage cheese w pineapple (publix brand is my favorite). During the weekends I'll make an egg white scramble with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and ham... yumm..

How much could you get down?
LosingAimee replied to aphroheidi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week or so it was hard to drink in general. I didn't have issues keeping things down, but I couldn't drink big quantities of fluids at a time. Just make sure you remember to sip sip your water and protein! -
Drinking with my meal
LosingAimee replied to DarBro23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This has been a big issue for me too. Prior to my surgery, I was a HUGE drinker with my meals... multiple glasses. I always enjoyed the "cleansing of my palate" for the next bite... anyways, it's been probably the biggest challenge to get used to. -
weight gain
LosingAimee replied to happilybandedryley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very good about preparing my meals ahead of time so that I'm portioning my meals to the amount I'm supposed to be eating, otherwise it's still very easy for me to overeat. This weekend I thought I made decent food choices but I think I overate in quantity, by Monday morning I was up 2lbs. I spent the day on liquids and thankfully this morning I was back down those 2lbs. -
Success rates: self pay v/s insurance
LosingAimee replied to AZ Gary's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a self pay as well, and I've financed it for the next 24-36 months. I feel like it's given me tremendous pressure to make sure I stay on track. I can't allow myself not to make the most of something when I'm still making payments for it. -
I was banded 5/30/13... we have pretty much the same starting and current weight, and also height. I have to admit, it requires a lot more discipline than I anticipated. I heard countless times "the band is just a tool", but I was hoping to feel less desire to eat than I do. I'm self paid, so I definitely have to make the most of this. I think you're probably cheating because you're discouraged by not seeing the results as fast as you'd like, but try drinking Water when you get hungry, or take a walk. Once in a while you do have to indulge a little, but try only a small bite or two, and then get rid of the rest ( I know easier said than done). Anyways, I'm rooting for you, Aimee

LosingAimee replied to Angiekate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different, but I had the procedure on Thursday and I went back to work Tuesday. I could've easily gone in on Monday... just didn't feel like going to work.
