Today I had no thought of banding...til now. Ran around like a chicken with its head cut off all day today. Nobody had what I needed. I think its a conspiracy.

My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
lbriteyes replied to Tawnya777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I admire your energy! I think it might be normal to have small setbacks, especially at first. I don't know for sure, I'm just thinking everything else in life works that way. I don't have a dog right now to walk for exercise, but I've been trying to train my cat to walk on a leash. lol Not going well. I'm sure it helps you to stay so busy with kids and being involved in things. I'm going to look into things I can volunteer for on my level of activity in my area... thank you for the suggestion. I had problems with exercise induced vertigo a bit ago. The doctor agreed. Motion makes me sick. I'm going to try different sorts of things starting this week. I had been exercising an hour a day - seven days a week. I'd ride the recumbent bike, do crunches and push ups. I also do specific leg exercises to strengthen my knee where I had a replacement. Now that the weather is nice, I think I'll do short walks to start with. Keep going. Even when its hard. I tell myself that every day. Linda -

My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet

I cannot imagine doing this alone. I'm lucky I have the support of my family, but it means something completely different to have the support of someone who has actually done it. Please feel free to email me anytime. Linda -

I have always wanted to do the extreme couponing, but don't have the confidence of those I see on the show. I used to do freebies though, and it was fun. Do they have coupons for the shakes and stuff we have to drink? Linda -
I found it on the website. I bookmarked it so I can come back and read it. Thanks again. Linda

Thanks. I'll just look it up on the internet and see if I can find it. It will save you the trouble. I appreciate it. Linda

Thanks for that. I needed to hear that just today. I'm having a *fat* day. Where you just feel fat. I have*ugly* days too, and today is both. Hubby says I'm not ugly. lol Brat. I did feel well enough to clean the house and do laundry. I'm just taking it slow. Tomorrow, the ONLY thing I'm doing is grocery shopping. One day at a time. Sometimes, one minute at a time. Linda

Graduation party went well yesterday. I didn't think about banding at all, which is unusual since I'm so obssessed with it. Enjoyed my time with the grandkis and son & daughter-in-law. Blood pressure ran on the high side of normal, so it was a nice night. Couldn't sleep though, so I was making egg salad at midnight. It was good. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Linda

My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
lbriteyes replied to Tawnya777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just checking in with Tawnya and her followers. How are things going for you, Tawnya? Linda -
I'm hoping today goes much better. I hope to blow off some steam by staying home and cleaning. I have one (but several) tasks on my list. I'll clean the house and completely re-do the kitty box including washing it out and replacing the litter with fresh stuff. Then I'll vacuum where it sits. No thinking about the class (yeah, right). No heavy stuff that makes me think or causes my blood pressure to rise. (155/91 this morning) This afternoon, we'll go to our grandgirls' graduation party (one into elementary and one into middle school). Linda

Still anxious/eager about the class. It can't get here soon enough for me. Patience is a virtue I do not possess. Dieting pre-pre-op didn't serve me well today. I shouldn't have even gotten out of bed. Ugh. It was a day of days. When I got home, my blood pressure was 190/106. Nothing huge happened, just a lot of little things. I may need therapy. lol

This is good to know. I'm a list maker as well. I just take my notebook with me where ever I go. lol My husband (aka Larry) jokes that even my lists have lists. I have started one for the class, so we'll see. I'm not sure what all I need to know, but I'm sure I'll take notes during the session.

First, thank you. Its good to be able to relate to someone on that level. I cannot imagine having children the ages you have. lol That takes a lot of energy. I'm glad you've found that balance. Having kids definitely ages you. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it does. Linda

She's pretty good at lighting fires where they need to be lit. Linda

Hang in there. Take each day as it comes. I think you have an excellent perception of the whole thing and its good you can look at it that way. Linda -
My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet

I cannot imagine the willpower it took for you to not eat that stuff. I'm lucky that hubby isn't a snacker and that I do all the shopping. Linda -
I'm excited about the class. I don't know what to expect, but I'm sure I'll learn more about the procedure in general, and maybe some specifics. Do you know if I need to bring anything with me? Will they have information to take home and review? I suspect so, but feel like I'm flying blind... except when it comes to here. I have done most of my research on these boards.

My goal at this point is just not to die. I'm very anti-death. I'm sorry you're having so much pain with your leg. I'm sure you've tried special shoes too. I'm not sure how old you are, but you sound so confident, positive and well adjusted, especially with the challenges you face now and have in the past. I have three adult children - two birth and one I raised (husband's daughter). (his, mine and ours) I don't know why the distinction now, but I'm having problems with my husband's daughter... who really is mine. Long, long, long story. My children are my heart. My grandchildren are my soul. My kids are 33, 31 and 29. Grandkids are 12, 6 and 2. I want to live for them. I *do* live for them. Linda

Thanks, Tawnya. I have a call into my nurse at Humana. She said she'd help in any way possible, so here we go! Linda

Thank you for your post. :-) I'm so happy for you that you were able to discontinue medication related to weight. I have found that this place is *the* place to be. I have found so much good information. At one point I was so depressed over this that I cried for days. Reading what you all have gone through has been a tremendous help.

Thanks for your support! :-) I need it. Especially on days like this. There is not enought time! I found out that I have to take a class on lapband surgery before I actually get in to talk to the team. Not a problem. I will attend on Wednesday, June 26th at 6:00 pm. It'll be a very late night for me since I live more than an hour away. Ugh. Can I please just have this done now? Linda

Appointment went well. We're getting the ball rolling. The hospital will call me sometime this week to set up an appoint for consultation with all their specialists. My mdoc (medical doctor) said it will probably be six months before I can even think about surgery. I have to jump through all sorts of hoops before it can happen. Try this first... then that... then something else. Process of elimitation, I guess, before it'll happen. Funny thing is, when I was being weighed, I lost 8 lbs. Go figure. I've been stress eating and not exercixing for two weeks. lol Telling my husband how much I weighed was tramatic for me. Turns out he knew anyway. He loves me. Go figure. We'll have been married 30 years on June 10th. I do have a lot of support. My husband, of course, my adult children, and my father. Now I have you guys too. Thanks especially to Tawnya for her support as well. Ok, I'm going to tackle my health issues. Some have been weight related and some are lifelong afflictions. Meds are listed too. Great lead-in, eh? Here goes: Hypothyroidism: Synthroid Triglycerids: Gemfibrozil Sleep: Zolpidem Vertigo: Meclizine (exercixed induced vertigo - weird) Bipolar Disorder: Lithium, Seroquel, Klonapin, Trazodone Resless Legs: Ropinerol Skin Problems: Prednisone (for now - limited) (some ointment, too) I have four different skin disorders - none weight related Suppliments: Fish Oil Stool Softener (because the meds I take give me constipation Seems a lot. I'm not taking anything right now for the High Blood Pressure. I'm going through another round of keeping a diary of it. I've also had a total knee replacement a few years back. We'll see what the day brings. Linda

My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet
lbriteyes replied to Tawnya777's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is going to be long, so I'll post it over on my journey, except to answer your questions. Telling my husband was a major thing for me. He said that he figured it out. Not surprised, and yes, he still loves me. He's in it for the long haul. Thirty years in June. I do have a lot of support. My children, husband, and believe it or not, my father. lol I hope to keep in contact with you. You seem like a lifeline kind of person. Very helpful, nice and forthcoming. I need that sharing through this. Thanks. :-) Linda -
Nice to see another Ohioan here! :-) If I might ask, where did you have your surgery? I was given three different hospitals. Thank you for your support! Linda
