how far away is weston?

I am not banded yet but I was looking for anyone who was in the Gainesville, fl. area or surrounding area. hoping to find a good surgeon close to home.

Thank you all for the kind words. I will not be covered by insurance so as crappy as that is financially I at least will not have to jump through hoops for them. My husbands home office excluded any kind of weightloss surgery when they signed up with cigna. I am trying to go around my primary and go straight to the surgeon but they haven't got back with me yet. Thanks again for you all sharing with me. becca

I hope that this doesn't upset anyone, but I have been trying to get this question answered. I have not been heavy my whole life, I gained 130lbs during two pregnancies(100 w/ one and one year later 30 more with the other). All together I have been trying to get the weight off for five years with no luck. My question is, has anyone been in a similar situation and was it hard to get approval from primary? Any advise or info would be great. Beccs

I am presurgery preconsult and my employer also doesnt include gastric procedures of any kind. There were no mixed messages, the first phone call I made they said "No, but thanks for calling today." I feel your pain because now I am going to have to try and finance the whole thing and don't know how I am supposed to do that.

Can anyone tell me how do you get approved by doctor for getting banded? Is it hard? Do they give you a though time about it? Any info would be great thanks. Becca

thank you all so much you have helped more than you know. I have been doing so much research that I was just confused, but finding this web page has really helped put the whole thing into reality. Now I just have to calm my husband down about the procedure.

I am new and am still contimplating surgery. This discusion is reminding me of a question I had about over eating, what happens because I too am 420 friendly. I am not an over eater by nature but quickly become one after a few hits.

This is the first time I have been to this sight and I have not been able to get off all day. I have been so insired by everyones stories, weight loss and support for everyone else that needs it (I know I do). I have been thinking real hard about getting banded, but have some questions like can you feel the port through your skin, can you still go on vacation and have fun, what about going out to a nice dinner with the hubbie? Also curious about what happens if you eat something your not suposed to or if you over eat? I guess I am nervous because I have put on over 100lbs after having my son(2 1/2) and daughter(10 months) back to back. I have never been heavy in my whole life(hope no one gets upset about this comment)don't get me wrong I am not complaining but I have never dieted and it didn't work until after I got pregnent. I have been trying to shed the pounds since 7/16/04 with minimal sucsess. Sorry this is so long but if anyone has any advise for me or can answer any of the questions I have asked I would greatly apreciate it.:help:
