Summa Summa Summer time! Love It, but Modifications Needed!
enjoythetime replied to enjoythetime's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks! Yeah, most days are fine but I do find myself constantly worrying. I know I shouldn't but I do. I'm hoping maybe it will ease with time??? Or atleast I hope so! I'm my own worst critic. My husband thinks I handled it great and so did my friends but I could just kick myself for eating that crap. It's days like today that I'm gald I'm not on a daily weighing regiment! Oh and BTW great job to you on being prepared! I think this is one of the biggest keys to successful weight loss and management!! -
Vacation COMMITTMENT
enjoythetime replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@HealthyNewMe have a WONDERFUL time on your vacation! I just made a post every similar in regards to what I have to do to stay on course this summer, meaning modification and game plans. I wish I would've done what you just did and mapped it out BEFORE this weekend!!! I winged it and learned I just can't do that! Again, have a wonderful time and enjoy every minute of it!! -
So, I've been reading posts talking about carb intake and how we should be following a low carb lifestyle (which I agree with) but I'm just wondering how many carbs do you typically consume in a day, what's recommended? Is this something you track on a daily basis like you do your calories? I personally haven't counted or tracked this, I don't eat bread, rice, Pasta, etc.so I guess in my mind that was tracking it:-) Just wondering how closely everyone monitors this. Thanks for your input!

Who knew I would be so excited about....get ready for it:-)

Okios Greek Yogurt Dip. That's right, before surgery I was a big dip junkie, I ate it on almost anything:-) Obviosuly it was something I had to give up because well it's not very nutritious BUT recently I discovered Okios greek yogurt dip. I think it's been our for a while but I told myself that stuff can't be any good until the other day when I was at the store and had a craving I just couldn't kick so I broke down and bought some of the french onion and for comparrison (for my husband's sake) I also bought the Dean's french onion and to both of our suprise...WE BOTH perferred the Okios to the Deans A serving is 2Tlbs. and only only contains 25cal, 1g fat, 2 carbs, 1g sugar and 2 g Protein.....Yipppeee I never thought I would be so excited about something as silly as this but it's just another little thing that keeps me on track for the long haul of a lifestyle change:-) I thought I would share with everyone just in case you're a dip junkie like me:-) I know I'm a nerd:-) Enjoy. Is this the one that's suppose to taste like a Wendy's Frosty? I read this somewhere and thought no way can this be good, but you're vouching aey:-) I may have to check this out. I saw if on Pinterest I think, and I belive it had the calories calculated. I will check it out and compare it to yours. Thanks for the tip. I'm all about trying to find a way to get a shake, that's good for you!!! Sorry, operator error ! I dont know the calorie content of this, but wow , is it good and taste rich !! 1 frozen banana, cut into pieces, 2 tsp honey, 1 Tbls cocoa, milk of your choice, coconut, 1%, almond milk, whatever you like, use 2 Tbls milk for ice cream consistancy, or 1/2 cup milk for a thin milkshake. Blend all ingredients in a blender, pour into bowl or glass. Yuuuuummmmmmmm

Cheap high protein meal ideas?
enjoythetime replied to kassy07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ground chicken or Ground Turkey- You can make burgers, chili's, Soups, meatballs, meatloaf, taco's, lettuce wraps. You can make "spaghetti" by roasting spaghetti squash and making a meat sauce or meatballs with the ground chicen or turkey. Chicken breast are ususally on sale every week. Buy the family pack, divide into 4oz servings either cook at once or freeze indiv. You can do sooooo many things with chicken breasts. Throw some in a crockpot (even frozen) with some taco seasoning, a jar or salsa, black Beans, cilantro, lime juice, or whatever you lke, put it on before you go to work come home shred it and have a taco salad or a tacos. Omelets- Cook some low sod. bacon or turkey bacon add in some fresh spiniach, mushrooms and onions. Top with a little cheese and some plain non-fat greek yogurt and/or salsa Or you could do mini egg muffins with the same ingred, as above put them in a (12) muffin pan and bake for 20-30 min at 350. These are the perfect make a head Breakfast. Grab, warm, eat:-) Deli Meat- Turkey or Chicken rolled up in Romaine lettuce leaves and a slice of cheese with some mustard or lite mayo, or Okios greek yogurt dip For Snacks, Dannon Light Greek Yogurt- 100 cal 13g Protein 1-2oz of cheese depending on my calorie intake and protein for the day I may add in a Quest Protein Bar, approx 180 cal and 20g p cottage cheese with tomatoes cucumbers soaked in apple cider vinegar with onions....summer thing:-) Raw cauliflower with Okios Greek Yogurt Dip 60 cal. sugar fee pudding cup -
Bandista, I couldn't agree more! I'm the same way, I don't want to be too thin, I want to have some substance to me:-) BTW, hell to the yeah on your success! I love your outlook and attitude! Honestly if more people could stop getting so hung up on the scale and take a step back like you and see the transformation of their body, they would be a lot happier and more successful! You're doing a fantastic job! So happy for you!!!

So today I was just curious to see what weight I would need to be at to fall into the"normal" range according to the BMI chart...Don't do it, I shouldn't have because it just pissed me off...haha. According to their chart I need to lose another 13lbs before barely making it into the "normal" range and then something new came up called the "Waist to Height" ratio???? Never heard of this so I went along and according to this number I fall right in the middle of healthy with the range being .4-.5. How is this possible?? So if I were to lose another 13 lbs. I would meet the "normal" criteria for BMI but then on the other end of the spectrum I would be considered "unhealthy" For the love of geez, this is all a bunch of BS in my opinion. I never set my goal weight according to my BMI because I know if I weighed that, I wouldn't look right. I guess it all depends on your build??? I think this is just a bunch of garbage but sadly enough people live their lives around these numbers and so it just infuriates me that you get such contradictory infomation. No wonder our society is in such turmoil regarding weight and socially "acceptable" perspecitives, you can't ever get a straight answer. Just thought I would throw this out there for discussion:-) LOL

This is just my opinion based on my own experience but if you're only consuming 700-900 calories per day on a regular basis, this could be cause for the scale to sloooow down, or hault, but like TMF stated it's not all about the # on the scale, typically when the scale stops moving you're losing inches!! I would talk with your doctor and ask them what your target caloric intake should be. I know when I first started I was only eating around 800-900 calories a day and while I was still losing my Dr. got onto me and said that if I didn't start trying to get approx. 1200 cal per day then I was going to hit a huge plateau, because my body would go into starvation mode. Play with it a little, increase slowly and talk with a NUT but I think anything less than 900 calories per day is way too little. -
Nope not mean at all, just saying it how it is and there's nothing wrong with that!! You're absolutely right this is ALL about you! You have to feel good and be healthy for YOU, no one else can or will do it for you so don't worry what people think. I've seen this issue posted so many times and honestlyI would do the same thing......if you don't agree with me fine, but you better support my decision or there's the door. Head up and stay the course, don't let anyone influence your decision for a healthier happier life. I wish you all the best in your decision!

Season with your fav spices. Kc is known for its bbq so we have some awesome bbq seasoning so I used Jackstack. Sautee a slice of onion in just a dab of fleishmans light butter. Once burgers are done cut in half. Take tortillia and layer with ketchup & mustard then lay the burger you've cut lengthwise, top with onions, pickles and pepperjack cheese. Roll up and bake at 350 for about 7 min or until tortillia is crisp and cheese is melted. DONE AND DELISH!! Total cal 390 Total Protein 37 g Next time I'm only going to do 3oz patties I could finish the 4 oz. There are several variations you can do with this. Next time I'm going to season with taco seasoning, the sauce will be okios greek yogurt dip salsa jalapeno, layered with pepperjack cheese and avacado slices and a splash of lime juice;)
