Tomorrow is the BIG DAY! Any last minute advice?
m.simpson88 replied to ImWithTheBand13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Make sure to walk to help with the gas pains. Sip water as often as possible and if you get nauseous you might try hot mint tea. It helped me a ton! You got this!!! -
It works as long as you stay true to yourself. I am 16 months post op and have 42 pounds to lose until I am at goal. I fell off the wagon and gained 3-4 pounds and as soon as I realized it and was honest with myself I got back on track. Down 3 pounds in 5 days. Just be honest with your self and make the right choices! You will do great!!!!

Let's try this again, I know what I need to do and I will be successful. Once I realized I was going in the opposite direction I stopped it instantly! We can only be successful if we commit to it! -

Jackie I was the same way I am one of those lapbanders that has to have quite a bit in my band to have the right restriction. I am at about 8 cc in my 10 cc band and finally have the right satiety when eating. I eat about 1/2-3/4 c and am good for about 4-5 hours. According to my dr.'s office it is perfect. They don't want you to go to long without eating because you need to be able to get the majority if not all protein through your diet. The green zone is an elusive little stinker for sure.

Hey y'all, thought I would share a recipe that is really easy, simple and delicious! I know some lap banders can't have shrimp and some can. I have been fortunate. I have 7.5 or 7.75cc in a 10 cc band and can still eat everything. I just take my time and chew! 2 servings raw shrimp (I used Sea Queen medium shrimp from aldi) 1 tbs yogurt butter spread (Brummel and Brown) 1 tbs minced garlic (can be adjusted to taste) juice from 1/2 lemon 2 tbs Parmesan cheese Cooking spray Heat a skillet over medium heat and spray with cooking spray. Melt the butter in the pan and add the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes. Add shrimp in a single layer and squeeze the half a lemon in the pan over the shrimp. Cook shrimp until opaque about 4-5 minutes on both sides. I served mine over a 1/4 cup steamed broccoli sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. It is delicious! It's 153 cals per serving with 5 fat 2.5 carb and 21 Protein. Enjoy!!

I was extremely nauseas for the first 5 days. I mostly drank mint herb tea or lemon ginger tea and honey. GasX is a must! Water! Water! Water! -
Hey y'all, I am nearly 5 months post op and I believe I have the flu. I am making sure to get fluids in but I have a fever that is ranging from 100-103. What can I take other than Tylenol? Tylenol works for about 45 mins and only brings it down doesn't break it completely. I also have a horrible headache that Tylenol won't touch.

Has anyone had lapband with plication
m.simpson88 replied to ShericaK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lapband w/ plication and a hernia repair in July. I slept in a recliner with a small pillow pushed slightly under and over my left side where the port is. I ended staying in the recliner for the first 10 days because when I tried to get in my bed it just hurt way to much. -
need breakfast ideas

I have recently discovered jimmy dean turkey sausage it comes in crumbles, patties and links. They are all 100 calories per serving and 11-12 protein and are delicious! You can also do boiled eggs with a little salt and pepper or even a scrambled egg with fat free cheese and a little salsa to give it flavor. I have heard about oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder added to it. I haven't tried the last one but with the cooler weather I may give it a whirl. -
Weekend before Surgery - Any Helpful HINTS???
m.simpson88 replied to ccjll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was extremely nauseas for 4 days after surgery so I drank mint herb tea with honey and lemon ginger herb tea with honey it also helped soothe my throat. I also used an ice pack on my port and it helped with the muscle pain. Good luck! -
I felt the same way about 3-4 days post op but I promise it gets better. Your body had lots of medicine and the anesthesia so it is hard to go to the bathroom for the first couple weeks after surgery but again it will get better! You need to eat or drink your soups so your body has fuel to heal. Just take it slow. Within a few weeks you will no longer doubt yourself for having this surgery! Chin up it all gets better! Make sure to sip your water it is very important to get it in.

I knew it was not necessarily what I ate but the amount. I am glad It happened because now I know. I can not say there will never be a next time but at least I can tell myself "you know what happens when you over do it." So I can put my fork/spoon down and know I am satisfied.

I took my mother and little brother to Souper Salad, this is the first time since I had surgery on July 23rd I have been faced with a buffet. I ate my small salad and was satisfied but we were all talking and so I had some of the chili, then some pasta salad. The result is the most awful pain in my chest almost like the gas pains from surgery plus my pouch hurts. I told them both this evening that I will not be able to go back. I am still learning but I am miserable and in pain.

I meant pbing and sliming thank y'all so much. How about fills have you had? iIf so how much if you don't mind me asking. -
I had surgery yesterday and my port site hurts so bad. I cannot lay down or get out of the recliner without help can't even go to the bathroom without help sitting down and getting up. I have a low grade fever and the dr's office has already called in antibiotics. Is this normal?? I feel like I have pulled muscles in my neck and legs and I have a lot of pressure in my chest.

Sorry for the late response, I am feeling much better. I can't keep any protein shake or drink down and I can't keep broth down. Makes me so sick. I also ended up with an upper respiratory infection. I am eating very soft puréed foods thinned out. And finally feel like this was all worth it. I felt so bad that I was getting onto myself because I chose to do this.
-
The worst part is no matter what I take I can't make the fever go away. I have had a good amount of water and half a protein shake today but i am dry heaving really feel like I need to throw up. Fixing to try and drink some broth.

Why do they say not to drink with your meal and to wait 30 minutes after your meal?
m.simpson88 replied to BringingSexyBackToTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nutritionist told me the reason not to Is because it flushes the food out of the pouch faster which can lead to overeating or becoming hungry faster rather than every 4-5 hours.
