my weight loss has been a little slower than the doctor would like and he recommended I add a probiotic. Any one have any suggestions on what brands to look at and any experiences where adding them helped with your loss? Thanks!!

Ovarian cyst and weight loss
noonie79 replied to noonie79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your replay PammieAnne! I had lap band a few years ago and bypass in January. As far as carbs, I was at about half that and fewer calories and brought the weight loss issue up to the nutritionist who actually recommended increasing calories to 1000 and carbs to 100 to try and get the scale moving. It worked for a week and then I stalled again. Heard back from the gynocologist who said it's not from the cyst. So frustrating. -
Does anyone have experience with an ovarian cyst slowing weight loss after bypass? I had gastric bypass on January 18 and have only lost 27 lbs in the last 12 weeks while staying true to the nutritional guidelines. Daily I have between 800-1000 calories, 70-90 grams of Protein and under 100 grams of carbs. Have also been monitoring an ovarian cyst for about that long that is not resolving but is a simple cyst. My obygyni said that we can remove it surgically because it has been causing pain but due to my size he thought it was a risky procedure. So I opted not to do it yet and to wait 6 more weeks. However, I am wondering if that could be the reason for the difficulty losing. Anyone experience anything like this? I have a call out to both my gastric surgeon and obygyni to see if they think the cyst might be to blame for the issues I am having with weight loss but wanted to see if any of you had any thoughts in the meantime. Thanks so much!

I am currently 6 weeks out since my bypass and stalled at four weeks and haven't lost a pound in two weeks. Just curious when others first stalled and how long it latest. Any suggestions on how to get the scale moving again? This is beyond frustrating. Only 19 lbs down. Thanks!

Definitely happened to me before I got pregnant. I tend to retain a lot of Water and think it has something to do with that. Just one more thing to deal with during that time, right? LOL.

Just looking for some feedback from anyone that might have had a similar situation. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and have been vomiting several times a day after eating for several weeks. I also vomit after exercise or even just from walking up the stairs. At the same time, I have pretty bad pain under my left rib cage after I eat (regardless of whether or not I vomit) that lasts for a few hours. This is usually the case only if I eat solids and not if I eat Soup or liquids. When I first found out I was pregnant I had .5 cc removed. Today I had the rest taken out when I went to go see my surgeon and explained what has been going on. He is concerned that I might have a slippage and told me to try things without Fluid and if the vomiting doesn't stop, I will need an upper GI. I am confused because I just assumed this was a pregnancy issue. I don't have any other GI symptoms but for the vomiting and pain, a little heartburn here and there, but again, I think that is pregnancy related. Even though I can wear a lead apron for the x-ray, I am apprehensive to get the x-ray if this could all just be pregnancy related. But if it is a slip, he will need to do surgery now in the second trimester before it gets to late. So, I guess my question is, has anyone had similar symptoms, mainly vomiting only with solids and pain, that ended up being a slippage or do you usually experience more symptoms with a slippage than what I am describing. Thanks in advance!

I am in Winfield, IL. I notice a lot of DuPage county responses. There are some fantastic forest preserves in the area with covered shelters. Anyone from DuPage interested in setting a time to meet at one of the shelters for a support group? Im thinking Blackwell or McDowell woods. We can use the paths for some exercise after. -

should I feel my port?

Phew! Thanks so much! I have had so much anxiety over this! -
I am a month out and go tomorrow for my first post op check with my doc. I can't feel my port at any of my incision sites and was wondering if that's normal, is it buried deep or did it possibly flip? What site should it likely be at? I would think the largest incision site. I felt a nasty pull about two weeks ago when flipping in bed but the pain resided quickly. Hoping its all ok! Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks! Oh if its helpful started around 345.

So excited, surgery scheduled for September 18th. Feels like it is so far away. After 8 years of commuting 2 hours each way to a desk job, I am starting a new job next week, 15 minutes from my house. With a gym in the facility! Life is really looking up and I see a fit me in the future! Anyone else scheduled for September?
