I got a call this afternoon that my insurance approved my surgery at 100%!! It was faster than they told me it would be. They submitted my paperwork Friday and got approval today. I go in Thursday for pre-op testing and then the following week I meet with the surgeon and schedule my surgery for 2 to 3 weeks. So hopefully by the end of May I will be banded! Good luck to all those waiting. I am so happy to be here.

I am looking forward to: -Shopping in "normal" stores. Avenue gets OLD! -Having normal looking backs of my knees (odd I know) -Doing things with my kids without guilt or worry that I will injure myself or get too tired. -Feeling good about myself -riding dirt bikes and my dh's motorcycle -being able to go go more than 2 minutes on a stairmaster without stopping -being able to use step stools and chairs without worrying they will break so many more!

I am hoping to become a May bandster! I spoke with my insurance company BCBS Federal TX today and they received the information from my drs office and it is under review. My drs office said they generally get approvals within a week from my insurance company. I am still praying like crazy to get a date established soon so I can stop worrying about "planning" things toward the end of the month. Congratts to all of you who have received approval and good luck!

I have the Federal BCBS Basic PPO option and they do NOT require a diet. Their criteria are pretty much a BMI over 40 or a BMI of 35 (not sure) with health problems such as sleep apnea diabetes and the likes.

I called today to verify BCBS Fed TX received the information my doctor sent and they said they had received it and it was under review. I then called my doctors office who said they generally get approval within a week from my insurance company. Friday can't get here quickly enough! I think once I have a surgery date I will be more relaxed. I am a planner and hate not being able to know when this will finally happen!

I have found a lot of people on these boards who used Dr. Marsden. Their website is www.lapbandsolutions.com I am also in the mid cities area.a So far their office has made things really easy and let me know what to expect each step.

I am new here and waiting on insurance approval to get a lap band so please forgive my ignorance up front! First of all I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this. As others have said go with your gut instinct and get 2nd and 3rd opinions. Just like when you were looking into the lap band research all of your options. Talk to others who have had the same issues you are having. Last of all do what is best for your health not your surgeons pocket book! Why do you blame yourself?

I just wanted to wish you luck, I am waiting on insurance approval as well. My paperwork was sent on Friday. I didnt realize how much of an emotional eater I am until I really started getting serious about lap band. Now I have been noticing when I eat because I am bored or upset. Usually for me it is sweets. I know I can win this battle but really believe the lap band will help me win it.

I have been looking into the lap band for a long time and see lots of peoples personal stories early on in their journey, then they kind of wean themselves from their support groups to sit back and watch the rest of us going through this journey. Does anyone know of any studies or web sites that discuss the long term success of people with the lap band? I understand it will only work as well as the person sticks to their routine. My doctors office said to expect to be off work for 1 to 2 weeks. Is it insane to think I could have the surgery late in the week and go back to a desk job on Monday if only for a half day if thats all I can take? We dont get sick time at my job so I am trying to prepare them for how long I will need to be out.

Forgive me my mind has been spinning with reasons they could have to tell me I am not a canidate for the lap band and was wondering if anyone had experience with prior surgery incisions being an issue with getting a lap band? I have had two c-sections, one a classic bikini cut, the other a verticle cut from my belly button down. Has anyone had any issues with prior surgicle scars?

I have wanted to get the lap band for a long time but it was not covered by my insurance untill January of this year. After trying everything else and failing miserably looking at all of your pictures and reading your stories gives me great hope. I go in on Thursday for the health tests to get approved for suregery then i will wait on my insurance (BCBS Texas Federal Basic) to approve it. They said they have already done one woman's surgery who took only 2 weeks to get approved. They are waiting to see how well they pay. Anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you who share your lives on this message board! I hope to be one of you soon!
