I dont care what you call me as long as you call me thinner!!!

You have got to be kidding me

Obviously you are not ready to share with others about your surgery yet, and that is fine its a personal choice. Just remain open minded and maybe as you get to know this woman better you will feel like telling her or you will find she is a total flake and be happy you didnt. Either way that is pretty neat

    ice cream

I agree with the others, There are a lot of good ice creams that are made with mostly splenda. You still have to read the labels because some of them seem misleading but they dont taste bad!

I am going to Wise Regional. All policies are different so i really dont know the answer to that. Probably Dr Marsden's insurance department or you could call your insurance co and ask them if it would have to be at an impatient facility. Really though my question to you is if they said you have to drive an hour away does it change you wanting to get this done? For me the answer was no! I would drive to Canada if that is where they told me to go. On the other hand you can start over in your approvals process and find another doctor who also does surgeries at a local hospital if that is an issue. Maybe someone on the insurance board has experience with your particular company and could give you more specific answers. GOOD LUCK!!!

I have Federal BCBS Basic TX. According to my insurance it is not an outpatient surgery. They will approve it in an impatient facility only. I do not have to stay overnight but it has to be an option. Because my doctor does no practice at any of the local hospitals I have to drive to Denton where his other practice is.

    Question on Precertification

That is funny! I have the surgery on the 23rd! I also got a letter in the mail from BCBS today saying I am "pre-certified". Which of course they dont do! Blows my mind! It was very nice to see it in writing though!

My insurance did not approve my surgery at the outpatient center in Hurst. I have to go to a hospital an hour away You would think the insurance company would be all about saving some cash. Instead I have to go to a hospital and they approved 2 days stay. Oh well at least my insurance will pay for it. I think I would have driven a lot farther if they told me too!

Paulette, I am SO GLAD to hear you got a new date. I understand there are probably other ways you imagined spending your anniversary... just remind dh of the sickness and health part and tell him he gets to live part of the vows he made to you

Anyone Quit Smoking after Lap Band?

Smokers have more saliva than non smokers and so it makes some banders feel sick to their stomach or other things? I dunno, I don’t have a band yet just repeating what I was told.

  16. I am trying to get some different protien drinks to try and noticed my Dr's office sells Myocel. I e-mailed the company because I was unable to find the product label information on their web site. If anyone has this and can scan it or type it up for me I would GREATLY appreciate it! Also how was the taste, ect? Thanks in advance!

Anyone Quit Smoking after Lap Band?

I have seriously been considering quitting smoking and know I will its just a matter of when? I am not banded yet and am extremely nervous about the pre-op diet. I was thinking of quiting shortly after getting my band. At my initial appointment they told me smokers have a hard time with the band because of the saliva. Good luck on your journey without ciggs. You CAN do it!

    Last straw stories

I had some allergy problems a few days before my DH and I were going on an adult get away to a cabin in the woods. At my pcp's office they have a mirror on the back of the door that you can see yourself from a side view while sitting on the table. I remember staring in disbelief at the person in the mirror. Dont get me wrong I knew I was fat well before this but I had avoided realizing how bad I had let myself get. We ended up having a great time on our trip but I realized there were so many things I wanted to do but wouldnt for fear of being too tired, too fat to fit on an tube and go tubing in the river, all kinds of things. Someday I want to do that trip over and do what I really want to do!

I bought an XL spandex work out outfit today. I can sqeeze into it now but its not pretty and the back of the shirt rolls up on me. I am using it as motivation to work out, and using it in my pictures as I progress. Its very exciting!
  21. Have you tried the flavored diet snapples?? they have a grape pom granite one that is delicious (and i am not a pom granite fan in the least)! I have only been able to find the good flavors in the variety packs at wal mart or the grocery store.

    May 2007 Banders

It is so good to hear from those of you who have already had your surgeries. Thanks for all the updates and keep sharing the advice!! I start my pre-op diet Thursday and just keep thinking wow this is the last time i can order anything i want off the menu and eat the whole awful thing. As much as I am dreading the pre op diet I am ready for it to be here so I can get it over with!

True, but I believe all FEP BCBS plans are the same. They are all for Federal Employees.

    May 2007 Banders

Maybe this is a completely retarded question but I dont see my surgeon until Thursday to ask it! If we have to stick to this awful liquid diet before we are banded do you think it is okay to take some diet pills? I am talking about PRE-OP here only.

Doesn't drinking push food thru band?

I am not banded as of yet but was wondering do you sometimes take a small sip of water while you are eating? I was having dinner lastnight and I usually dont drink while I eat anyway but sometimes if the chicken is spicy or something maybe you want a small sip or two of water?
