U mean no fills??? I had no choice but to see the needle. It was laying on a small table by the door when I walked in. Hard not to watch someone about to stick you with it when they walk over to you with it in their hand! Yikes. No pain at all though really, my IV numbing shot at the hospital hurt more.

Well I got my first fill. I must say I was a little intimidated by the size of the needle and that they did not numb the skin before doing it. I could see my port and the needle going in on the screen which was cool. They stuck the needle in and I didnt even feel it. Very strange feeling but good. No pain at all and I was able to drink the nasty chalk stuff and water afterward with no problems. To anyone waiting for their 1st fill it is NO BIG DEAL! I got 1.5 cc.

You better call and ask kacee! It would suck to show up at your doctors only to be told you are at the wrong place! I go to a surgery center for mine. Different doc of course!

I did not get my band because I was "off track". If I were just off track and could work out and eat smarter I wouldnt have gotten it to begin with. I am glad this approach is working for you. I believe you would be more credible in your ideas if it had been longer than 3 months since you took all of the fill out of your band. Also - a lot of people still get some restriction with the band alone. Good luck and keep us updated with your progress!

Congratts!! I keep thinking about how it will feel a year from now. Seeing posts like yours makes me realize if I work hard it can be WONDERFUL!! Way to go!

Ginger, I am going in for my first fill this morning so i dont have any experience yet. How many cc's does your band hold? My doctor told me that if I got a fill and did not have a noticeable amount of restriction within the first week and a half to call for another fill. Otherwise, I would be waiting 4 weeks for my next one. Just a thought, you may call your doctor and tell them the problem! Good luck!

10 weeks??? WOW. That is a long time. My doctor told me when your scars heal on the outside then you are healed on the inside. Call your doctors office and ask. I just cant imagine 10 whole weeks.

I went to the airport last week and did not set anything off? I was at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport and went out of my way to wear nothing with metal in it so I could test it out. I dont know if it matters but I have the low profile port. Does anyone know if it would be bad to ride a roller coaster with the band? One of my goals is to ride some roller coasters when I lose some more weight. Common sense tells me it should be no big deal even if they are the kind that go upside down. My head tells me dont do ANYTHING that could mess this up for yourself!

Eva, I dont know that you are going to like the results if you do this after banding. If you do it before you get any fills the cottage cheese may be able to easily go through your band thus not giving you the results you wanted. If you wait until you have some restriction and you eat to see how much you can eat you will probably make yourself sick? Either way good luck! Why not just ask your doctor how big your new pouch is after surgery?

The scale hasnt moved in two weeks and although I know I shouldnt be I am really bummed about it. I have been eating healthy, working out like crazy, and nothing! This part of being banded stinks. I get my first fill next week but it is depressing to think it could take months to find the "sweet spot" with fills. Sorry, I am having a pity party again.

Any word on the appeal yet Rosanna???

I'm still here too. Been working out on the treadmill and going for bike rides. Scale isnt moving much but it is almsot TOM again so that doesnt help. I am just patiently waiting for my first fill on the 20th!

I had the clear plastic bandages too. I took them off a couple of days after surgery. I also took my steri strips off 10 days post op. You can always call your dr and ask them

:rolleyes Tami, I am with you! I dont get it at all either. I have never had this problem!! I dont know if its that I am self concious or really just not in the mood. It sucks!

I was banded on the 23rd and my weight has fluctuated 4 lbs or so back and forth and I really havent lost much in the last week. I started back to the gym and that seems to be helping. Until you have restriction in your band again you may not see much weight loss if you go back to your old eating ways. Which is EASY to do! Just concentrate on healing right now and the weight loss will come with time.

Any restriction I had is also now gone! Kind of frustrating even though I knew this was going to happen. It was so nice not being so hungry. I am getting my first fill on the 20th. I am going to the gym and trying to eat right but wish I could speed up time. This seems like a theme in my band journey. I hurry up and wait! Congratts on being so close to onderland! I am jealous!

I was taken back for surgery at 5:30 pm and left the hospital by 7:30 pm. I did have the option to stay in the hospital if I wanted to but knew I would get better sleep in my own bed.

I am 27 with four kids. I dont know that I personally would have wanted the additional issue to deal with when I was having babies but lots of people do it! I guess I say that because I had some problems with some of my pregnancies. On the other hand I do so wish i could have those years back of my life that i missed out on things because of my weight. GO YOU!! Do what is best for you, your family will be so proud of you later!

I did not feel wonderful the day after, I was pretty tired and it hurt to sit and stand. If my childs graduation were close to where I was I think i would absolutely try to attend for a few minutes. Those things dont usually last too long anyway. I guess I am just really sentimental too though. You can always plan on going but just wait and see how you feel! Have someone else go with a camera if you cant attend. They are so darn cute at that age!

I was banded on May 23rd and a little over two weeks out have NO restriction. The purpose of the band is to give me restriction and I need to make proper food choices and work out for it to be a good tool for me. If I didnt want the restriction I wouldnt have bothered to get a lap band at all. There is no point to an empty band if it doesnt do anything for you. Some people get restriction from just their bands, I dont! So I have scheduled my fill for 4 weeks post op!

Hang in there I know how you feel. Until this morning my scale hadnt moved in almost a week. I know I am eating what I am supposed to and being as active as I am ready to be so I know it WILL happen. This is not just some fad diet you signed up for this time stick with it and you will see results. Do MORE than just eat right and you will see even better results. As someone else also said your weight will change daily weekly ect.

Metal- It was weird, I went from one day having port pain and being swollen to the next feeling wonderful. It wasn't anything gradual at all. Hopefully this is encouraging to you because I wish someone had told me that! Are you eating any food yet? I got on the scale this morning and am down 20lbs!!! I cant believe it. This is soooooo freaking cool!

I went back to the gym tonight for the first time and it felt great! I only walked on the treadmill because I cant remember what and when I can do things. I only walked a mile with it on the incline because I want to test the waters and make sure I feel good still tomorrow. If so back to the gym I will go!!! I am pretty proud of myself for heading back in prior to two weeks post-op go me! The old me would have used surgery as an excuse NOT to do anything physical. I bought a new car this weekend and picked it up today. I feel like my whole life is changing and I couldnt be more excited about it all.
