Help, I think I'm eating too much...
ragdollx19 replied to BonJosie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also felt absolutely no restriction after surgery. After my 1st fill I had restriction for a few days and then returned to normal. I have now had my 2nd fill and am waiting to see if the restriction stays this time, but as of now I think I slime everytime I eat something. Hang in there, restriction will come with your fills! -

A-May-zing Bandits July Challenge
ragdollx19 replied to METALBAND's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
iPOD??? Okay, this is not directly related to the challenge but kind of... I have an mp3 player but have been thinking of getting an iPod. I get SO BORED at the gym when I go alone. I cant decide if I should get the iPod video or the smaller iPod Nano. My friend loves her video iPod but I am still on the fence. I would love to hear from those of you with these or have researched these already! -
post surgical sexual intimicies

I swallowed twice in about a 30 minutes and washed it down with a cold drink and felt fine. HA HA HA! Unless your man cums a gallon at a time I should think you would be okay! -
That really sucks! I decided just to tell everyone before I got it. Maybe someday you will open up to your friend and tell her you didnt tell her because it was very personal for you. Then again maybe not! I know how you feel about eating with friends who are overweight and eating crap foods. My friends do that and I dont judge them because i am the same way. But at the same time when I tell them i have reached some sort of goal or pants are fitting looser they just say "oh I hate you". The other night everyone got appetizers and I kind of looked like the odd ball for waiting for my food. Anyway you are not alone!!

Well I am super frustrated with my band. I feel like I am starving all the time. I had my first fill on the 20th and it is not offering me any restriction. I am going in on the 9th for a second fill and am really hoping it does something. I am tired of being hungry an hour after I eat!

I was recently at a friends house where people were having a conversation about how "some people are trying to say obesity is a disease" and a generally negative conversation about this subject. I felt very uncomfortable and even offended. They were not directing it at me, I was just in the room. I chose not to join in the conversation because I am kind of sensitive about my weight and how hard it is to be overweight. It upsets me that people who have never been this way can be so negative and mean about it. I wouldnt wish obesity on anyone and will forever be able to sympathize with those who are. How do you deal with conversations like this?

My Dr strongly reccomended a glass or two of wine a day. He said to hell with empty calories red wine is very good for your stomach, digestive tract, and many other things. He also said I could drink other kinds of alcohol once in a while if I wanted.

I took one month post op pics yesterday and can already tell a difference in my hips, rear, and face! Too cool! I am wearing the same outfit for each pic. I bought it tight on purpose so it will still work later on. I posted them in the before/after pix. Anyone else here taking before/after pics?

A-May-zing Bandits July Challenge
ragdollx19 replied to METALBAND's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, I forgot to say the water thing is REALLY hard for me for some reason. I have never been good at drinking enough though. Last week I suffered for it by getting a UTI and told I had too much protien in my urine and to drink more water. -
Migraines get Better after Surgery ?
ragdollx19 replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had only been getting two or three bad migranes a year before my surgery. Since my surgery a month ago I have been getting one to two a week. I'd be interested in reading about how this is associated with weight loss. -
Okay I know there are some other Sopranos fans out there. I was watching the last episode and at the end my tv just went blank. I had to call a friend to make sure my tv didnt malfunction. How in the world can they end a show like the Sopranos in such a lame way?? Tony totally should have been off'd or handed to the Feds by someone in his family. I am just really sad about how the supposed last episode ever ended. I did enjoy Phil's ending though. Can it really be the last show if they didnt tie up so many loose ends??

A-May-zing Bandits July Challenge
ragdollx19 replied to METALBAND's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been walking on the treadmill for 15-20 minutes 3-5 days a week and doing different weight machines for another 15 or so minutes. Sometimes I go for a bike ride at home instead. I need to step up the cardio time, I just get so bored even with my mp3 player. I would like to set distance goals for myself I think. I usually go a mile on the treadmill so I think this week I will go 1.5 mi each time and then 2 the following week. To make it simple my July challenge is going to be 40 miles in the month of July. What are the rest of you doing for your workouts? -
Metal, I dont know how it works either but i would be game. I think it would be easier if we started a new thread in our may 2007 folder? I guess we should look at some other challenges to see how they have been done. i have been going to the gym on a regular basis but just not doing as much as i should once i am there. i have pretty much been doing mostly cardio but need to step up some weight training. I think I am about to start dragging DH to my gym again. My first fill didnt give me much restriction at ALL. I feel like calling them this week. I eat less because I am afriad of "stretching my pouch" but pretty much walk around starving all the time. Sometimes it even makes me in a bad mood because I am so hungry and so afraid to eat. This really sucks, i cant wait for this band to be more on auto pilot.

Alli - this is from their website. Really.

From the way it sounds why pay for that when you could just buy some chewable chocolate laxatives? Then you could eat what you love and have gas and stomach problems without digesting anything? Maybe its just me but that is really silly. -
I have Federal BCBS and the surgery center that my doctor uses is considered our of network. The surgery center told me I dont have out of network benefits and so I would be required to pay out of pocket for all fills. They did say I could appeal to the insurance company to make an exception. I dont know what I need to say to them to make this happen. Has anyone else experienced this? Can I just find another place to do fills? I didnt post this in the insurance section because that is people trying to get approval for the surgery.

I am praying for you! I look forward to reading your posts because you are so encouraging and positive. Your go get em attitude is awesome, I just know this is going to work out for you. I hope you get a YES very soon!

Did your insurance cover your lap-band?
ragdollx19 replied to mommy2kyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My insurance Federal BCBS covered it and I will owe $100. -
I am all about sharing when possible. I was craving Chipotle lastnight, they make these HUGE delicous burritos with grilled meat and all kinds of stuff in them. I bought one, had 4 or 5 bites and now have enough for 3 or 4 more meals. I must say when I put food in the fridge I have been getting kind of irritated with dh for going in there and eating them. I actually look forward to having them for meals later on.

Pills...extrememly confused...
ragdollx19 replied to musicalmomma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My Dr told me I dont need to crush any pills. He told me to drink some liquid with it but that it will dissolve just as it did before surgery. I must admit my vitamins have been making me feel yucky not from getting stuck or anything though. I may try a chewable to see if it helps. -
How long does it take to get the paperwork submitted to Ins?
ragdollx19 replied to LMJLMJ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Federal BCBS also. Our insurance is not the one that requires the psyc eval it is your doctors office. They submitted my information to the insurance on a Thursday and I was approved by Tuesday. You have the best insurance there is for this! You could always call BCBS and ask for the pre-authorization department and see if they have a case pending for you, if they dont call your dr's office and tell them that and let them know you wanted to verify your ins had received whatever they sent them. -
The first two weeks I was in heaven not having to eat much to be full!! Then it just went away and I was as hungry as I was before. I had my first fill this week and it helped a little bit but no huge difference. I cant wait to be able to eat small amounts again and not feel so hungry. It is very strange to have a small amount of food make you full but your head tell you keep going it tastes good. I have found especially with things like spaghetti or anything you could eat in a bowl that if I choose a small bowl and fill it up my head thinks I am full like my stomach does.

post - op - It's not working ???
ragdollx19 replied to djhickm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont have much experience with fills and how effective they are, I just wanted to say maybe you could call your Dr's nurse and express your frustration to her. Ask her if its normal because of your large band size? Good luck! -
coughing hurts! also port area swollen
ragdollx19 replied to wadew1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded May 23rd and my port felt that way for at least the first week. The second week it didnt hurt so bad to get up and down but did still hurt when I coughed or sneezed. One day you will wake up and the pain will just be gone. Hang in there I know it is frustrating but it really will get better. My hospital gave me a small pillow to hold up against my port when getting up and down or coughing. It did help a little. Hope you feel better soon!
