6-17-13 Exploring options
tinyt replied to mojaleski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the RNY, it was the best option for me. I have a co-work that had the lap band and he did not use the tool to help him succeed to have a healthier lifestyle and I had another co-worker who also had the rny and she lost over a 100 lbs. I am not saying one is better than the other because I have met others who have had both and have use the tool that was provided and lost and maintained their weight. Good Luck! -
I tried 2 chicken drum sticks buffalo style and I was ok with eating them and had no problem and I am about 3 1/2 weeks out. I also chewed the food until I was sure it would be ok before swallowing.

What ya eating tonight?
tinyt replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When did you start eating regular food? How many weeks were you post-op? Thanks in advance! -
I had my surgery on the May 28. I have had a little pain on my left side and it feels sore mostly when I try to bend down or move out the bed. I have noticed today that I have a weird taste in my mouth but I have dissolvable Listerine.

My surgery was May 28 and I am still drinking and eating clear liquid items. I have my follow up on Friday. I know we have to do the stages but I am kinda of ready to eat regular food. Just to have a taste of a good hamburger or a good chicken salad. I am just waiting until that day.

It's good your friend is supportive and you have know each other a long time. Your lifestyle is about to change and you are not always going to be able to do everything that your friend is doing. I would always follow your doctors' advice. Has your friend had the surgery or is she going to have the surgery? It's going to be hard, sometimes friends drift away on this journey because of the completion. She may become jealous of you and your new success. I am not saying this happens all the time but you will see as time goes by if you and your friend will overcome this barrier. Hopefully it works out for the best and you are making the right decision for you and do not let anyone else tell you different. Good luck!

After surgery, you will go to radiology to drink 2 different solution, so that they can make sure you have no leaks. The test takes about 10 minutes. Good luck to everyone!

I'm done with surgey. I had a good night, still a little sore. I was really drugged up last night-kept fadibg in n out. I finally woke up, walked around about 1000 last night, work up again at 4 this morning and walked again. I was taken off pain medicine about 1030 n went for 1 more walk. The nurses and dr. Said I was doing fine. My husband came at 1045 and I was discarged at 330. Now I'm in the car waiting for meds at Target. Then I will be home. YAH!

Thank you so much! At the hospital now and patiently waiting.
-
Good luck, see you on the loser bench. I at the hospital waiting to be called back. Surgery is at 1000.

I haven't had my surgery yet, 2 days away. My dr. told me to start exercising 8 weeks. I assume it's just depends on the doctor and how you are feeling.
-
Everyone does not have to have a pre-op diet. I would call the nurse or doctor to make sure. If you had to do diet, I sure they would have told you.
-
I have the same diet plan and I started my diet almost 2 weeks ago.
-
It is hard. These last few days have been better. I made breakfast for my family yesterday and this morning and I was just looking at the food and it was smelling great. I didn't eat the food, I just drank my shake when everyone ate breakfast. But since I been on the pre-op diet, these last few days, I have not really craved any sweets. I just make sure I follow my diet. Sometime, I wonder if this is worth it and I know it will be once I change my eating habits. It was hard the 1st few days, but I got better each day. You can do it. You have chosen to be better, which you have already started just by making the decission to take all the steps to procede with this surgery.

Starving and wondering how im gonna do this
tinyt replied to janel129's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Janel129 and Bevy Boo, My surgery is also on May 28, I have to be at the hospital at 0800 and surgery is at 1000. I am excited and nervous. When I started this liquid diet, I had some of the same side effects, hunger pains and headaches. Then a few days after that I was questioning, am I making the right choice because as I look at my schedule last night - basically no real food for about 2 months. -
I find the tickler! 5 Days to go!

Where can I locate the body weight tickler?

Good luck quecky2, Donnah, Tyra22, heksie88!

Almost to the pre-op diet...My story
tinyt replied to ShineBright724's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are making the right decision for you and only the ones that choose to have this surgery truly know what each person is going through because we all can relate to one another. We all have made this to be healthy, feel good about ourselves and whatever other reason we think is important to us. -
I have to do a 2 week liquid diet before surgery. I am on day 7/8 day, unsure but each dr. Is different. So of us have to do a laxative drink or something the night before but my dr. Didn't tell me about this. The liquid diet is hard but I am hanging in there. It will be worth it in the end. Just ask your dr. To make sure.
