    Is It Just Me...

I think it's kinda like buying a car. You suddenly start noticing how many other people are driving the same model you have. On the other hand, I work with 50 women, and most conversations I overhear are centered around food, Desserts, and what was for dinner last night. And the occasional tidbit about sex! That's when my ninja skills kick in and I go into stealth mode! It never fails to amaze me how a 300 lb guy can blend into the background and disappear in front of their eyes.
  2. I weigh daily, once when I get up, again before and after a pee, again before and after a poop, when I get home in the evening after work. NO! I'm not obsessing. I just have a boring life.

    Heat/ sweating soo much

I try to take it as a positive - getting cold easily. It's only my hands and feet at the moment - still too much "insulation" on my stomach and thighs. I am looking forward to shivering like a Chihuahua on too much caffeine!

    Post-Op 14 Days - Puree Diet

I've found that I like them for another reason as well - I don't have to worry about eating too fast and taking 1 bite too many. I know that 1 container full is all my stomach will hold in one meal.
  7. My first guess is that your muscles are replacing the depleted glycogen stores - since it sounds like you've been on a low carb diet for the past few weeks. Your body stores 4oz of Water for every 1oz of glycogen stored. I had the same thing happen to me over the weekend. I was trying to break my stall, ate 2 high carb meals over the weekend (some mac and cheese and some potatoes) and woke up on Monday 2 pounds heavier. Now it's Friday and I've been back on my normal diet, been walking every day. And I've lost the 2 lbs and almost 2 more on top of that.

    NSV - and a ticket!

You probably could have gotten out of the ticket if you would have said (in a husky voice), "Here, let me show you my scars." And start unbuttoning your blouse.

How To explain away my scars?

Cool, I'll tell'em I was knifed by an exotic dancer in TJ.
  10. Another Texan here. I watched dozens of hours of Youtube videos from sleevers and RNY patients, read tons of testimonials, forum posts and blogs. Even got to talk to 3 people that had gone through sleeve surgery. No matter how much reassurance people give you, there's always the lingering doubt that I'm the one that it won't work on. I had to go through it to understand how much it improved my life. No more hunger pangs, cravings, I can walk away from sweets, I don't gorge myself at the buffet, I don't feel the need to hoard food, and I am not always planning my next meal. I had NEVER had any type of surgery before this - 46 years and never been in a hospital. I couldn't even pick a tattoo that I wanted permanently on me! So it took a lot of determination to make that 1st phone call to my insurance company to find out the process of qualifying for bariatric surgery. I can only say that I wish the sleeve had been around when I was 21 instead of having to wait an additional 20 years to get it.

How To explain away my scars?

I am pretty much used to it, but I still want them to think I'm an "outie" not an "innie".

How To explain away my scars?

Ok, I'll give it a try, but the guys at work are look at me funny. But it's not like they don't already think I'm strange.

    Muscle Milk?

I have only drank one bottle, it was pretty good, it was chocolate, but it was expensive at the convenience store. So I switched to EAS carb control chocolate fudge (4 for $5 at Walmart) during my full liquid stage. I like them both equally, they both tasted like thin chocolate milk.
  15. The weight will come off. I've been through at least 3 stalls that lasted around 7 days in my 11 weeks since surgery. I bugs the crap out of me every time. But suddenly, I'll wake up the next morning and be 1 or 2 lbs lighter. The weight loss is not steady or continuous, but it does come off. Hang in there. Keep pimpin your sleeve!

Freaking out a little bit :/

I was in the same position as yourself last November. Needing lose weight, couldn't lose it and keep it off on my own. I watched dozens of hours of Youtube videos from sleevers and RNY patients, read tons of testimonials, forum posts and blogs. Even got to talk to 3 people that had gone through sleeve surgery. But no matter how much reassurance people give you, there's always the lingering doubt that I'm the one that it won't work on. So there's nothing anyone can say to ease your worries. There's only 2 real questions you have to ask yourself: 1. Do you want to be where you are a year from now? 2. Do you see things improving without help? Good luck with your decision.
  17. I weighed myself hours after surgery! When they got me up to walk, I saw a big scale in the hallway and hopped on.

    beginner question

I think the best workout routine is one you can stick with. As long as you're moving and trying to improve, you're doin good! Keep pimpin that sleeve!

    Popsicles ?!

My doctor didn't require it. I hadn't eaten anything in the previous 72 hours, so there wasn't much chance of that happening! My doc likes bowel sounds so much - he bought the album!

    Fiber ~ need ideas

I haven't measured my fiber intake, but I do eat a lot of re-fried beans and I add psyllium (from Walmart) to my food concoctions. I also eat cauliflower (instead of mashed potatoes) that's been run through the food processor. A 1 lb bag only has about 100 calories, add a little brown gravy and I think it tastes better than mashed potatoes

    To much protein?

Yes, too much protein can be a bad thing for your kidneys - if you're not drinking enough water. If you're lifting weights and not seeing weight loss, try keeping track of body measurements. You may be replacing fat with muscle.

    Popsicles ?!

My doc gave them to me right after surgery.

    Confused now.....

I chose the sleeve over banding after talking with 3 sleevers and watching a friend get the band. All 3 sleevers had lost a lot weight and kept it off for a year and counting. And it cured their hunger pangs and cravings. I lost those as well. I only have to watch out for my ingrained habit of eating when bored. My friend with the band lost over 100 lbs and was still over 100 lbs overweight, and found ways to get around the band and regained about 50 lbs. At 3 years out, he's had all kinds of problems with his band - from slippage to scarring on his stomach from band irritation.
