Does shoe size change?
joatsaint replied to mom2twinsN1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, my shoe size is smaller by 1/2 size. My feet are now ripped like a bodybuilder! :-) If my feet had abs, my six-pack would be showing. -
Chicken breast still makes Frankensleeve grumble. Most everything else is fine.

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op
joatsaint replied to Kristina Mccarthy-Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are just a part of the process. I've gone through about 1 stall a month since surgery. Usually they last about 2 weeks, then the weight starts falling again. Keep Pimpin' that Sleeve! -

I guess I was lucky that I live alone, I've read lots of posts about people having to cook for their family post-op and how difficult it was not to try a bite or 2. Just keep coming around here and you'll soon find out, you're not alone. P.S. Your taste buds will go back to normal, I promise. Keep Pimpin' that Sleeve!

What Would YOU Like To See?
joatsaint replied to 7 Bites_Jen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm really big on lentils, black beans, and garbanzo beans. Do you have any recipes that use those? I'm getting tired of the same old recipe I've been using. Plus any tips to speed up the bean cooking process would be helpful. Right now it takes about 2 hrs to cook the beans. -
I've never tried the powders, just the premade shakes.

As i Start my journey
joatsaint replied to jennietop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 1st 2 weeks, I couldn't live without sugar free Popsicles and sugar free Jello and Crystal Light Lemonade. I wished I had planned for sleeping upright, like in the hospital bed. I wasn't able to lay flat or on my side for the 1st 10 days. I had to roll a comforter into a big log and used that to prop myself up at night. -
What I wish I had known
joatsaint replied to Only1likeme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have gotten a firm release date from my doc. He didn't give me a release time, and I just had a general release time, he was 6 hours late releasing me and I had a 2 hr drive home. Also, I would not have stocked up on so much powdered Protein and premade shakes. Don't need as much as I thought. -
Question for the vets
joatsaint replied to ruthie74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I've begun to notice that my car seat puts pressure on my butt bone. :-0 So I'm adding squats to my workout routine to put some meat between me and the chair! -

How do I stop the cravings in the middle of the night?!?
joatsaint replied to jdosal4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I have late night cravings, I eat something high Protein - like a boiled egg or chicken breast. If I have to have something sweet, it's usually sugar free jell-o mixed with cream cheese or a Russell Stover sugar free Pecan Delight or a sugar free Popsicle. -

I didn't ever crave sugar itself post-op, but I did start craving peanut butter. I really had to limit my peanut butter intake or I would graze on it all day long. I just took the cravings as a sign that I was detoxing my body from sugar.

Stretch Marks the spot
joatsaint replied to A_ReNUDE_me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really worry about stretch marks, I've had them for years. Your question made me remember something I thought was ironic about how 2 things can have such opposite connotations. I ran across a thread in a bodybuilding forum and the guy was bragging about his stretch marks. To him it was a sign that his skin couldn't keep up with the growth rate of his muscles. So my only thought about stretch marks is; I'd rather be thin with stretch marks rather than overweight with perfect skin. Good luck with your surgery. -

You might check the carb count on the Muscle Milk. I was allowed shakes as long as they were 3 carbs or less. EAS carb control and Premier Protein were my choices. If you're getting too many carbs, it will limit your weight loss.

Day 8 stomach pains
joatsaint replied to makingadjustments's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stomach (Frankensleeve) would grrr at me with the slightest provocation. I was limited to eating about 3/4 can of cream of mushroom soup per day for the 1st few weeks. I was hurting pretty good. -
Finally Submitted to Insurance But List of Questions Returned
joatsaint replied to Andrew0929's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with ladypmendoza, call your doc directly. He's not going to be happy if you go to another doctor and he loses out on a $15k payday because one of his employees isn't doing their job. A friend had the same problem. Her patient coordinator wasn't returning calls and not turning in necessary paperwork. She spoke to the doctor and said she was considering going to another surgeon because of the delays in the process, next day, things magically cleared up and she was all set for surgery.
