I get heartburn as well, and I'm not on any antacids. It's just an on-off irritation. Mine seems to happen late at night. I'll wake up and feel the burn. I've noticed that sometimes it will go away after eating. So maybe it's my stomach's way of telling me it needs a little food.

What is your post-op full liquid meal for the day like?
joatsaint replied to Chubarella's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I know how you feel. I could lose a whole person and still be fat as hell! -
Congrats on your success and such a pain free recovery. At 6 weeks I am just getting back to my former levels of energy, so take it easy and don't over stress your system. I felt like warmed over death for the 1st week and in no mood to post to my blog.

Congrats, your looks are SMOKIN!

Can you ask the low cost doctor if you can talk to some of his patients? If they've had a good experience, a few should want to recommend him. I know that I'd be happy to tell people about the great experience I had. If you can't get them, then I'd have to go with the pricier doctor. After all, this can turn into a life and death situation.

Don't be worried just yet. I've gone through the same thing about 3 times in the past 6 weeks since surgery. My weight will drop constantly for a few days and then for 4 - 6 days I'll stay at the same weight. I think my body is going through a process of adjustment. It's not use to being on such a low calorie diet.

omg never ever again..

Sorry to hear you are in pain. food tolerance is different for everyone. I'm sitting here eating ground up chicken mixed with salsa and refried Beans with no problems. But this morning I tried scrambled eggs for the 1st time in 6 weeks. Within a minute of the 1st bite, my stomach was rebelling. I had read on here that rice is one of the foods that will swell in your stomach. Don't know if that's true, but when I do try rice, I'm going to be real careful on the amount I consume. -
mnbaileygirl, I have the same thing - depending on what I eat. I'm 6 weeks post-op and still have trouble with chicken, or anything with sucralose or alcohol sugars. I tried some Gatorade G4 today and my stomach didn't like it one bit, but I was able to eat sunflower seeds and a peanut power bar with no problem. For each food, I have to go through a testing process to see if my stomach is ready for it.

kcinpa, How bad can it be? After all it's not like they are cutting out 85% of the persons stomach or anything.

I watched the video. I rate the device at about 11 on my ICK! o meter. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "pre-chewed food". We could do an infomercial for the new "make your own baby food at home" device. Why buy baby food when junior can get it straight from the tap!

Really? That's weird, why would you want to be green and yellow? Hope you're doing well post-op. -
Its All Starting to Feel so Real!

My moment was when I was wheeled into the pre-op waiting area. But even then it was a little surreal. The whole time I lay there I was thinking, "What would they do if I just got up and walked out of here?" -
I'm ready, I'm excited, I'm scared to death, but I want this, I do, I do, I do.

Good luck, hoping for the best for you. And you're right, for the 1st week I didn't want anything to eat. I lived on sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jell-O. And not much of either. I drank lots of ice cold Crystal Light. I tried drinking chicken broth, but it just didn't taste very good after surgery. I liked it a lot pre-surgery. Once I was on full liquids, I pretty much switched over to Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken soup. -
Here's the secret to eating slower - Bloons Tower Defense. This game will get you so obsessed you will forget to eat! Take 2 bites, play a round, take 2 bites play a round, take 2 bites play a round, then try to figure out why you can't beat this level, try a new tactic - THAT didn't work. Okay, try a different weapon and placements, OH GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Now there's a new bloon that I wasn't ready for - it's camoed and armored. And don't get me started on the MOABs. Just what I needed - a blimp filled with bloons. Damn game, it doesn't have a God mode - so I can't cheat! GREAT! Now my food is cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://ninjakiwi.com...-Defense-5.html

Depressed --- Need the VST Gang Reality Check
joatsaint replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what little research I've done, I would think the weight gain was mainly from Water. As your body converts your food to glycogen, it takes 4 oz of water for every 1 oz of glycogen your body stores. And after WLS your restricted diet reduces your glycogen stores. It sounds like you had a small carb fest and your body took the opportunity to easily convert the carbs to glycogen. I had watched on Sleevers journey on Youtube and he correlated his weight loss directly to his Protein intake. On days of increased protein and decreased carbs, he lost weight. On the high carb days, his weight loss was slower or non existent. -
Congrats on getting your date. How are you feeling? Nervous? Excited?

Me too, I am still anxious about eating too much. I've come close and felt pressure and discomfort, but no vomiting. So I eat sloooow. It took me 30 minutes to eat a medium banana today.
-
My doc told me, if it's sugar free and non carbonated it was okay to drink post-op. I haven't tried either one, I'm a lemonade Crystal Light kinda guy. :-)

Sounds like hogwash to me. I want pictures for proof!

Sipping liquids causing cramps and burping?
joatsaint replied to Obsidian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All my gas came out in burps, I didn't really eat anything at all the 1st 7 days, so there wasn't anything in my intestines to ferment. It was weeks before it started coming out the other end. :-P -

Symptoms of early dumping include nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, dizziness, and fatigue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastric_dumping_syndrome

8 days post op. feeling good. feeling hungry. questions about food options please help thanks
joatsaint replied to rxkid2384's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After about 7 days, I tried Cream of Mushroom soup and Cream of Chicken soup. I had no problems eating them and they filled me up. But I could only eat about 2oz. So be careful if you try them. I was eating 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon per bite.
