I had regular ice cream. Had a few stomach gurgles, but nothing more than that. But I must add that it was only a tablespoon full. At the time I still wasn't able to eat much of anything at all in volume.

awkward first dates!
joatsaint replied to HikeEveryMountain's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would be okay with that as long as you follow 2 rules: 1. No pecking at your food like a chicken! 2. Order what you want, but you eat all that you order! No $30 lb lobster and you eat 5 bites! -

NurseGrace, Hopefully this post comes across as it was meant, to be funny and informative. I work in IT and know that not everyone knows about using the search box on the forum or using Google. I am sure that I've gone looking for help from a mechanic or store clerk, in their mind they are thinking, "Well, why didn't he just ____________." -
Best tasting protein shake with hiighest pdcaas?
joatsaint replied to isenbergl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I got lucky on my 1st try. Bottled EAS carb control Dutch chocolate @ Walmart. 4 for $5. It is a little too thin for my taste, but it does taste good. I toss in a spoon of another chocolate low carb Meal Replacement to thicken it up. Don't forget to buy one of the $7 shaker bottles with the round spring @ Walmart. Perfect for mixing shakes or taco mix with Water (I don't buy any kitchen tool that can't multitask like a mutha!) -
Yea, I was a die hard fan of In Living Color and MadTV. Sat Night Live just doesn't have the kind of humor I like. Homey D Clown for president. Unfortunately he wouldn't take the job cause, "Homey don't play that!"

Congrats, keep pimpin that sleeve!

I was right there with you - pre-surgery. I was afraid it wouldn't work for me. After all the empty promises from the diet pill industry and infomercials selling us Hope, it took a lot for me to finally make the decision. If you are like me and eat because of a constant nagging voice in your head (not because you're an emotional eater or stress eater), you'll do fine. My little nagging voice (caused by the hormone ghrelin) is gone. I am more than satisfied with the outcome @ 8 weeks.

I wasn't able to pass gas either, I don't think it will come out that way since there's plenty of room in the intestines - with no food in there. For me, it all came out as burps. All I can say is walk as much as you can and when you lay down, occasionally switch positions, that helped get the burps moving.

Thanks for posting an update. Long term sleevers like yourself keep me motivated. You're looking HOT! -
I tried peanuts (the plain ole convenience store kind) after 2 weeks. My stomach grumbled a little (I only ate 4 o 5) but was okay with them. Since then I've tried sunflower seeds and pistachios at week 4 with no problems. Whenever you try a new food, take about 1/2 teaspoon bite and wait about 5 minutes to give your stomach time to let you know if it likes it or not.

I didn't take any meds once I was back home. Saying the taste made me gag is an understatement. -

it's this what acid stomach feels like post gastric sleeve?
joatsaint replied to pottergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the grinding for a about 4 days, then it slowed down to only happening when I ate something my stomach didn't like. I think by the 3rd week, it was gone completely. -
What is your favorite foods and proteins
joatsaint replied to fp9107's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During stage 2, all I ate was Cream of Mushroom soup and boiled eggs and Crystal Light. My stomach would not tolerate protein shakes. -
What to drink for the first 2 weeks?
joatsaint replied to jacee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty much drank EAS carb control Dutch chocolate drinks from Wal-Mart and Crystal Light lemonade. I wasn't able to eat anything for the 1st 4 or 5 days and then moved onto chicken broth and then Cream of Chicken and Cream of Mushroom soup. By the 3rd week I could handle (very finely chopped) chicken and chopped boiled eggs. I didn't need a lot of variety, so when I found something I could handle, I stuck with it. Don't buy too many of any one sugar free thing. I found out the hard way that my stomach does not like things with sucralose and sugar alcohols, but aspartame is okay. -
4 days post op & had my 1st protein drink, now my tummy feels like it has a monster in it!
joatsaint replied to banditchic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was there, I couldn't eat anything other than sugar free popsicles for about 5 days post-op. I kept the elastic support on the whole time, so I didn't experience the pain of letting my stomach hang. -
Quick question...
joatsaint replied to MissTiffany203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only way I know that I'm truly hungry is when I feel my stomach cramping. -
Welcome to the board Gaby. Good luck with your sleeving.

The only thing constant in my diet is chicken. I eat grilled chicken every day in different ways. I grind up grilled chicken, cook it with taco mix and it with refried Beans and salsa - sometimes with shredded cheese, or dip grilled chicken chunks in some bbq sauce, or put Adobo seasoning on it. Since my sleeving, I don't ever get a desire for a certain "flavor". food has become pretty much just something I need to live. So I eat the same old thing pretty much every day.

Thanks for the video update. I'm only 7 days behind you on the surgery date. So what's up with all you ladies taking videos and photos in the bathroom? Are you shy?

I haven't really run across any bloggers that didn't eventually stop blogging. I think the best place to get that kind of info is on this forum.

falling off the wagon - help!
joatsaint replied to feelincheesy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got around the head hunger by eating more Protein or low carb sweets like the atkins bars. Also I told myself, "I'll eat the high protein low carb stuff first, if I still want the ice cream, I'll have some." Most of the time, I didn't get around to eating the ice cream, other times I did. It got easier the more I did it. And I did like vjslim suggested, remove the temptations from your house. If I really wanted something so bad, I'd have to get in the car and drive down to the store. It worked really well, I have to really really want something to get dressed and drive to the store at 9 at night! But I'm sure there is surveillance footage of me buying a cherry pie at Wal-Mart late at night.
