Congratulations, now you're just as crazy as the rest of us! "One of us! One of us! Gooble-gobble, gooble-gobble!" -
Day two. Failed yesterday

Ummmm.... where can I get some of that Soup? And don't say, "from your Momma." -
Congratulations on your success. But the real question is, "How can I make this thread all about ME?"

Day two. Failed yesterday
joatsaint replied to kooks3003's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember how food got you to the point where you're removing part of your stomach. Then channel that anger into a deep seeded hatred of food. Worked for me! Now, every time I pass a burger joint I salute them. Of course it is a 1 finger salute, but hey, it's better than nothing! -
My 5 main appliances: George Foreman grill 2 Food processors - (1) full size, (1) 2 cup - both from Wal-Mart Cast Iron Dutch Oven - Does double duty as a skillet too, I usually saute my shredded chicken in it with taco sauce. Shaker bottle from Wal-Mart - good for shakes and for mixing Taco mix with water.

What is the best unflavored protein from walmart?
joatsaint replied to oklafarmgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only seen one "unflavored" whey protein mix at my Wal-Marts. Don't think there really is a difference except in "type" of protein. I'd try to get the protein isolate, since I've read that the body absorbs more of this type of protein that other versions available. -
Chest tightness
joatsaint replied to heartonmysleevey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it lasted about 7 days. Then it got easier, but I still have to be careful about how big a sip I take at once - even at 8 weeks post-op. -
Could there BE a Cuter Guy giving me my Stress Test?

You could always tell them that you're secretly in the closet and then let them "cure" you. -

Could there BE a Cuter Guy giving me my Stress Test?
joatsaint replied to GabyK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know where your coming from. When I went in for the tests, all these hot 20 something girls are taking my blood pressure and EKG. And I'm laying there in that "oh so flattering" hospital gowns and was so embarrassed about my huge gut. -
What Does a Pre-Op at the Hospital Before Surgery Consist of?
joatsaint replied to Khloé's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The tests, other than the ones you listed already, was 9 vials for bloodwork, EGD (where they put a scope in your stomach). Then I had to go back again to have blood typing done in case I needed blood during surgery (I had to go back again because they have to run the blood tests 3 days or less before the day of surgery). -
I think the more important question to ask yourself is why you put the weight back on? Can you resolve the root issue that causes the regain. Then decide if you can do without the surgery.
-
My dr. saw the hiatal hernia during the pre-op EDG. There was no extra cost for the repair.

I was anxious as well. I'd never been in the hospital for any reason in 46 years. Then I found myself asking for part of my stomach to be removed. I was in denial right up to the point where they wheeled me into the pre-op waiting room. Then it hit me and I was thinking, "What if I got up right now and walked out of here, just yanked the IV out and left?" But what kept me on track was the same motivator I have used over the years. I ask myself, "Do you really want to be in this situation or worse a year from now?" And for me the answer was "no", I couldn't see anything getting better without the surgery. I have not had any regrets. I feel like I am in control of my life again.

I was going to say you only had to be old as me and know who Monty Python is, but I see that we are the same age. So I guess you just need a warped sense of humor like mine to remember "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Monty Pythons, The Life of Brian".

I found a way to trick the scale accidentally. I got on and was suddenly 8 lbs lighter than yesterday, then I noticed the vacuum cleaner power cord was under one corner of the scale. Seems my appliances are trying to help out too.

I haven't tried any unflavored Proteins. My favorite pre-made shake is the EAS carb control dutch chocolate I get at Walmart.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. -
From reading other posts, I think at 6 weeks you are in the safe zone. Don't know how long it takes to completely heal.

Thanks for taking the time to post an update. If my stomach looks like that when I reach my goal, I'll be very happy. P.S. Next time, could you please include pics of your buns?
