  1. I was diagnosed with COPD and sleep Apnea, but I was worried about not getting approved due to COPD. I only told my doc about the apnea, since I knew it was a comorbidity that would qualify me for the surgery. I was at the point in my life where things were only getting worse and I didn't care if I didn't make it through surgery. From my own experience at 8 weeks post-op, exercise does not play a big role in my weight loss. The dramatic reduction in my calories does. It was at least 4 weeks post-op before I had enough energy to get up and moving, and that was less than a mile a day of walking (and that includes walking at work). I'm just getting to the point where I can average 3 miles a day 5 days a week. I'm aiming for 5 miles 5 days a week. My weight loss has remained consistent the entire 8 weeks - about 3 lbs down per week. I think the main advantage to the increased walking is the steady consistent weight loss. I haven't had any of the infamous weight loss stalls at this point.

    Stress Test

What kind of tests did you have? I didn't have to take a stress test. I though just keeping my nerve up enough to go through the surgery was stress test enough!
  3. Your no fun! It's more exciting having Haters. Keep pimpin your sleeve!

    Nervous wreck!

Good luck on your sleeving. You should get approved. BCBS TX is my insurance and luckily, when I called them, I talked to an operator that had just gone through the surgery. And she said that BCBS is very easy to deal with. It took about 5 days to get approved once the paperwork was submitted.
  5. If you eat enough beans, you won't need the chia seeds! And if you have a husband or boyfriend - tell him to get ready for some gassy payback!

    OMG!

Good luck with your sleeving. Don't forget to get up and walk as soon as they let you.

    PCP ..... Friend or Frenemy

Good luck on your journey. If this new doc doesn't work out, is it possible to talk with your bariatric surgeon and have him refer you to a more friendly doctor for your mandatory weight management?

    popcorn

I haven't had any desire for popcorn, but I had some sunflower seeds on my 3rd week with no stomach upset. I can't eat but about 1/2 oz at a time, they fill me up quick! It takes about an hour to eat a 2 oz pkg. I tried some peanuts as well, but my stomach doesn't tolerate them as easily as sunflower seeds.

    Are You a Half-Fast Loser?

No offense was meant, just trying to bring a little humor to post-op life, since it's such an intense and emotionally draining experience. I'm happy for anyone that is working toward their goals and achieving success.
  11. Sorry, you're right. I kinda forget to add questions to the post. I try to remember as I see new common questions posted on the main forum. I also need to add the one about all the post-surgery horny women. :-D So can I consider you one of my Haters now, I'm starting a following for my cult. :-)

    My poor tummy

It could be if you are not taking them with food. When I take vitamin E on an empty stomach, within 30 minutes, I have to throw up.

Feel like i am loosing control.

I eat low carb high Protein foods when I have those carb cravings. Hamburger with Woshister sauce, grilled pork loin with adobo seasoning, or for something sweet, I eat sugar free Jell-O mixed with cream cheese. I recently found a really spicy/sweet dip at Wal-Mart in the cooler. It's made with greek yogurt instead of sour cream, very yummy mixed with hamburger or shredded chicken and cheese.
  14. My doc said for me to take two 500mg a day. One in the morning and one after work. Just don't take them within an hour of any iron supplements. Calcium can block iron absorption.

HIIT cardio=Puke, am I doing it right lol

Congrats on doing so well and being so dedicated. I couldn't live that lifestyle. I tried the body for life program around 1999. It was pretty grueling and I couldn't see myself living that lifestyle. It just wasn't enjoyable.
  16. I know where you're coming from, hang in there. I have a fear of needles too. They drew 9 vials of blood from me. I just took slow deep breaths and looked at the wall. Then I had to do it all over again 2 weeks later. Since I had agreed to accept blood if needed during surgery, they had to run the blood work again. They couldn't use the old test results if they are older than 3 days.

    Wow! You are looking amazing.
  18. Thanks, that is the 1st place I lost it. I think 28 of the 29 lbs came off my chin alone! :-P
  19. I reread my post and I don't see any judgment passed on anyone. You seem to be the one jumping to conclusions. AND if you've read any of my other posts, you would have known that everything I write has a humorous twist to it. Haters gotta Hate. :-)

    Coffee

I only drink plain old coffee. I drink mine with lots of splenda and coffeemate. I haven't had any problems.
  21. I didn't cry, but they shaved my crotch, or maybe I just fell for it. It was all very technical, something about hating my mother and I needed a "freeing" experience. And they required a prostate exam, but I swear I felt 2 hands on my shoulders at one point!
