How soon did you go back to work?
solson8201 replied to solson8201's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the advice. My surgeon said 5-7 days, then his nurse said many patients are back to work by Monday. I guess I'll have to play it by ear and hope for good pain meds :-) -
So awesome!! I can't wait to hear how the next few days go so I know what to expect next week.

I've noticed a lot of people who have been banded for awhile still drink protein on a regular basis. My doctor says that when I'm healed I should get my protein from food not drink as it will keep me full longer. So I'm wondering, do those of you still using shakes have them in the morning because you can't stomach breakfast? Or do you have problems actually eating enough protein? I get banded in a week and a half and I'm trying to learn all I can. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

I just got her book called "Bandwagon Cookery" in the mail today. It's awesome! Recipes for all stages of post surgery diet, and they look soooo good! Really wishing I wasn't on pre-op liquids right now :-/ Lol!

Protein Shakes After Full Healing?
solson8201 replied to solson8201's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've heard of that happening with gastric patients but I didn't know it happened with LapBand too. Maybe for me it will happen with macaroni and cheese, then I won't have to worry about THAT problem. Lol! My doctor has me on optislim and I like them okay, but they are expensive. -
Protein Shakes After Full Healing?

Thank you for the information! I was curious and want to make sure I have it on hand if I will need it. I will be sure to keep it for quick snacks and rush meals. Great plan! -

Time4kim, I think i remember Tina saying the shake depends on the doctor. I have Aguila. Do you go to the Tampa office?

I'm using Optifast. They are like juice boxes, so they're pretty easy. I mixed a chocolate one with a cup of espresso today and it was pretty good. Experiment with extracts. I like coconut and peppermint. Be careful though, I overdid the peppermint the first time and had to throw it away :-)

I just started my pre-op diet on Thursday, but I love the charm bracelet idea too! I think I will head to Brighton this week and have it in time for surgery day, June 13th.

Barb, Dr. Aguila in Tampa is great. He's right across from Memorial Hospital in Hyde Park. The office staff is so kind and helpful. I'm starting my 2 weeks of opt fast tomorrow, then surgery on June 13th. Wish me luck!

I got my date today, June 13th. And...I'm also a teacher! Can't wait to share this experience with you all. I start 2 weeks of liquids only tomorrow, anyone else?
