  1. I have been using MyFitnessPal for about a month now. I'm not disappointed with it really, but it bothers me that I can't set my daily protein and carb levels. It also tells me everyday that I'm not eating enough. I know I can ignore that statement, but it's quite annoying and I feel like the app is scolding me. Lol! Does anyone use MyNetDiary? It looks like I can adjust my carb and protein levels as well as my calories. The app is $10, but it also looks like I can use it online for free. Any thoughts? Experience with both?

    1st post op appt.

Way to go BigOBoy, you're attitude and happiness are so evident is your post. Good luck with your first fill and make sure to update us on the Early June thread. My first fill is on the 26th. Here's to us!
  3. If you're on a preop diet, make believe you are already banded. It helps when you feel like you want to eat. I used to tell myself "I can't eat that, it could get stuck". I know it sounds crazy, but it really kept me on track. Lol! Also, really start paying attention now to when you are no longer hungry, it's amazing how little you really need to eat to get there.

    Anyone use UP by Jawbone?

It also syncs with My Fitness Pal and transfers activity and calories burned to it.
  5. I am very new, banded for only 2 1/2 weeks. One thing that has already happened is that I've learned the difference between satisfied and full. At the moment I have no restriction, but as I eat my cup of food for dinner (slowly) I am able to stop and listen to my body. For the first time in my life I am learning to realize when I am no longer hungry, and I'm actually leaving food on my plate.

    Sit ups

I think she means that your starting weight says 109lbs and your goal weight says 80lbs. Did you mean Kilos?

    Early june 2013 banders?

No. But I still get satisfied pretty quickly.

    Purred foods?

I can't bare the thought either. I've been sticking to hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans and mashed regular and sweet potatoes. If I need more protein I'll keep drinking shakes. A week is too short to resort to blended meat :-)

    Early june 2013 banders?

Today is my first day of mushy food. For dinner I fixed 1/2 cup of refried beans and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese...and I couldn't finish it! Wow!!! I love this :-)

    Early june 2013 banders?

Any suggestions for mushy foods? I'm just not brave enough to take the family dinner and put it in the blender :-/ I bought some hummus, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rutabagas, pudding, and yogurt. Am I missing anything?

    Early june 2013 banders?

Me too. I think as we add more calories out bodies are going to stall a little bit. I was used to 800 a day during pre-opp, then right after surgery even less. Give it some time, we'll get there.

    Early june 2013 banders?

Ok Junies, here is something fun we need to do. I read another thread this morning about people naming their bands as they have become so close to them. So, I've thought long and hard about this and here is my decision. At first I felt my band should be a girl, so I was really leaning toward Hermione as she is the voice of reason always in Harry Potter. But...I realized that my journey with this band will probably not always be as good as Hermione is, so I decided on Tyrion. You Game of Thrones fans will understand that he is little but mighty, good and bad, but ultimately always trying to do what is right for the Kingdom. Sooooo.....what will you name yours????
  13. I was nervous about telling my husband about it at first, but I asked him to come to the orientation meeting with me and he was good after that. I just wanted him to be able to ask the questions he wanted answers to right then because he always thinks of questions I don't have :-) After, he told me I should do it if it was what I wanted to do, he wasn't going to make the decision for me. He has been my biggest supporter through the whole process. At work, we have someone who has had gastric bypass so that's a conversation we are used to. I told my close friends at work as i was going through the approval process and they were all very supportive. After that, I didn't tell anyone else in my family until insurance approved it. Surprisingly the overwhelming response from all was that they were proud of and excited for me. Now, a week and a half post surgery, I tell people as it comes up. I've found it's easier to tell the truth (when I'm drinking a shake for lunch at a birthday party rather than pizza) than to lie. I'm so excited about it that I think even if my friends disagree with it they don't show it :-)
  14. I'm one week post-op, I feel really good, and have very little pain left. But my incision sites are starting to itch! I know this means they are healing, but is there any relief?

    Early june 2013 banders?

Hey friends that are able to eat cream Soups with me this week! This has been my favorite "diet" cream of broccoli Soup recipe for a long time. Try it, and you'll love it! The original recipe doesn't have chickpeas, but I added them for a little Protein. I think if I made it again I would even add 2 cans. Ingredients Broccoli - Raw, 4 cup, chopped Squash - Zucchini, includes skin, raw, 4 cup, chopped Onions - Raw, 1 cup, chopped Butter - Salted, 4 tbsp Goya - Coconut Milk - Leche De Coco, 1 can (14 oz ea.) Swanson - chicken broth - 99% Fat Free, 2 cup Water - 1 cup Goya - Chickpeas / Garbanzos (Canned), 1 can (1 4/5 cups ea.) including water from can Turmeric, cumin, hot sauce to taste Calories Carbs Fat Protein Sodium Sugar Per Serving: 141 12 10 5 254 3 In a soup pot, sauté the onion and seasonings in the butter. Add the liquids, veggies, and chickpeas. Boil until the veggies are soft, then blend until smooth. This recipe makes about 12 one cup servings. ** you can use less butter obviously to cut the fat, but right now I'm willing to sacrifice for some taste finally :-)
