I always eat pretty slow now... CHEW, CHEW, CHEW! However, when I am eating, I stop in the middle and wait..... I usually will burp, and then I will eat about 1/8 of a cup more... wait... and the second burp and I push the plate away. NEVER have I ate and felt to full... Just satisfied. I really do believe it is the timing and the way one eats.

I just found this out this last week when two close cousins of mind died 2 days apart from eachother. I was so overwhelmed with grief that I felt my stomach tighten like a spazum.... When I went to the wake, my DH tried to get me to eat a small bowl of soup.... after two bites, my stomach seized up.... I am doing fine now, but it was a stressful time. Found that when I listen to soothing music and take deep breaths, I am looser.....

Hi plm! I worry all the time about gaining weight because I feel I can eat almost anyting without problem. However, It is the choices I make that keeps the weight falling off. I eat a lot of low fat high protein, such as tuna.... I also eat fruits such as melon, apples <without the skin>. My life saver however is the South Beach Diet frozen dinners. I cant even finish a whole meal, but it keeps me full for hours! I am 3 weeks postop. I had my doctors appointment today, and I have lost a total of 38lbs! I was amazed! SOOOOOO love this band! Good luck to you! Hope this has helped some.

How soon did everyone start excercising after
Autumn444 replied to roxy123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
<GROANING> I wish I could start exercising! My husband just bought a new gym and assembled it in the garage for me. Has everything I need that I could get at the gym. However, I am still have a terrible time with pain in the tummy. I am 3 weeks post op, and cant even imagine me working out yes because of the pain! Going to the doctors this afternoon to see if i pulled stitches, or if I am just one of the lucky bandsters that will always have a sore port site! -
I too get all wrapped up with these infomercials! Weather it be Tony Little Gazelle <which I bought> ot even the new Leg magic machine <rolling eyes> I have had ten hip surgeries... So anything that will help strngthen my legs I always feel is a bonus. But when it is out of the box, and I try it out, I realize that my hips wont flex as they should... I moan and groan, yet I still watch those damn infomercials! at least my daughter gets use out of them!

I believe love is a blessing.... feeling it is wonderful, but truly accepting ones love is something so few people can do. There is to many things flooding their ability to open themselves up to ones complete and pure love. Its magic.... its beauty, its truth, ITS LOVE!!!!!!!!

Youre not being selfish... Your being human. I am glad you have had time with her. And that she has opened herself up to the family as she has. All that we can do now is pray that she does not have tramendous pain and know she will live on through all the people and family she adores, Take care - Autumn

Hi Sissy - I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt. I can honestly say I know what you are feeling. This last month has been very difficult for me since 2 of my very close cousins who both have cancer and were fighting it were told they only had a couple months left to live after both battled through chimo and every other option. Lance died last weekend. He was only 48. He has three lovely children that were completely shattered. But so were my children. It was their first experience with death. Paul <my beloved cousin... the most remarkable person I have ever met> Died this last Saturday. Sunday was Lances funeral, and today was Pauls. IT hurts deeply. and I feel for you in your time of helplessness... yes that is exactly what it is. We are lost, we cant control this dreaded disese, and we are losing beautiful people in our lives! As hard as it is, be with her as much as you can! Talk about things you never knew about her. Family cookbook maybe? You said she always had family gatherings... Make a cookbook of all her favorite family dishes. Honor her in ways that she will appreciate. The cancer is not who she is. Its just an outsider... give her all of you without sorrow... laugh with her. Do what you can to make the last of her life here on earth beautiful! As she has done for you. I know how hard it is. I would be giving you a big hug right now as we both shed our tears. If you need anything, just message me. I have a soft shoulder to weep on if needed. I will keep you and your Aunt in my prayers. Autumn

It is scary to go into a surgery that you opted for. It is scary to be put under not knowing if that is it. It is normal for you to feel this anxiety. I was on the boards all the time freaking out about all the what if's. I was also about to jump off my gurney when they were wheeling me into the operating room. I woke up.... I was alive.... I was sore.... But when you get to your room, stand up for the first time, and understand that it will be okay. You will think "I anguished over this?" lol I wish you well with your surgery and recovery. Well done on your preop diet! You should be so proud of yourself! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Autumn

I do at times. I am almost 3 weeks post op. However, I am one of those people with a sensitive port site. If i wasnt to active that day that would cause some soreness, I will absolutly sleep on my tummy. However, for those days when I am sore, there is no way I can.

I completely agree with you, but this really is for those unbanded people who would like to have fast food without their own guilt... LOL I do not agree with them, But it is nice to have an idea of what you are consuming. At times, when I do not bring my lunch <mind you that is prior to my band> I would go to subway and get a veggie 6inch ..... God I still miss those. But I was trying to answer the question for the one posting the thread.

I had my first PB experience when I just came home from the hospital on 3/31/07 I was cutting up my pain meds <since I could not take any of the liquid because I am allergic>, and I thought I cut them up pretty small. I took a quarter of the pill and BAM it stuck.... I was in such a state... then I remember someone on here saying that relaxing and let it do its thing would be best.... Sure enough, within a moments time, it came up with a lovely ball of slime. Needless to say, I never took the pills again and had my usband go out and buy me some liquid tylenol! You all seem to have a problem with eggs. It was one of my first soft solids I tried. Never had a problem.... Weird how we all are different.

4 wks now: eat & drink together?
Autumn444 replied to guns n roses's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also, you can stretch your pouch out if you put your solids and fluid in your pouch. This could cause problems still with your newly banded tummy. It was a hard habit to break. I was taking 3 little sips of water when I ate, but I dont want to take a chance and stretch my pouch out. -
a family just starting together

ISOPURE! it is non dairy and has serveral fruit flavors. It is simaler to Crystal light but with a ton of protein. You can get these at GNC or other health food shops. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. Congrats on the tandom banding! I wish you well! -
I dont know if you will get this before you leave, but I work for Disneyland, and I know for sure that you will not have any problems with the security systems. And also, there are a wide veriety of foods at the park, but the best places to go are the venders who sale fresh fruits and veggies. Make sure you bring pleanty of water bottles. They dont sale a lot of drinks other than sodas. Their water bottles are 3.00 a piece. Hope you have a magical time!

(sigh) There are several different things that coupld have happend. One, during the time she was banded, she was offered a smaller more restrictive band. From what I hear, that band did/does cause more PBing in people. Two, IMO, this girl was saying she could eat mushier foods. Yes, she was not trying to eat the healthy mushies. She was eating ice cream, potato chips, and as she said, CRAP. To me, this sounds like a person who wants a quick fix. She did noy use her band the way it should have been used. My mother in law had the gastric bypass. I told my husband that do to the way she eats, she will have some serious problems post op. She lost over 150 pounds within a years time. But now, whenever she eats, she can eat a whole plate of food and the dessert. I worry for people who can not control what they eat. When I got this band on March 29, 2007, it was a HUGE eye opener for me. I did not consider the mental aspect of this surgery. I just assumed that I would be full and not eat. There is so much head hunger that I literally have to talk to myself of why I am wanting to eat even when I am not hungry! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anyone who is considering the band, remember that the biggest obstical is not losing the weight, it is facing yourself and why you are overweight. I counsel myself on a daily basis now. I am worth more than my head hunger! I am worth more than my obsession with food. I will work my band because it helps me. But I help myself more with the logic and understanding I have for myself and why I am addicted to food.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!! Cant wait till our first meet and greet!

Hi all - I work for Disney, and we ALWAYS have a healthy eating group meeting once a week. They posted this to everyones e mail to help those who eat out a lot rather than bring their own lunch. I thought I would post the link. Hope it helps. It was quite eye opening for me. I always look at fat and carbs. That is what my doctor told me to do rather than count calories. Doesnt make me want to eat out very often at all. Thank God I usually bring my lunch! http://www.healthchecksystems.com/ffood.htm

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Crystal Light has come out with an apple flavor drink that taste just like apple juice without the calories and sugar! The Orange flavor Taste just like California style sunny delight.... I live on these now!

Autumn444 replied to Autumn444's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Then it goes away jst as fast as it comes. I have been wearing my stomach supporter they gave me in the hospital.... I am lossing so much weight in my stomach area so quickly.... I see the buldge where the port is... Very strange now that I have a lop sided tummy LOL Thanks everyone for your quick responses... It really does help when you are at a loss....
