I battled my weight from high school on until I had my children then I lost a ton of weight and was going to the gym 5 days a week. I maintained this from 2002 until 2008 when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's which is auto immune under active thyroid. After that it didn't seem to matter how much I worked out I was still gaining. Then I get diagnosed in October 2008 with Lupus and it was all downhill from there. I had to take steroids and all kinds of other meds that weight gain was a side effect . Not to mention I was to sick and exhausted to exercise. In 2009 I was then diagnosed with 'Multiple Sclerosis and have a brain and neck lesion. To treat that they gave me enormous doses of IV steroids for a long time and I gained 60 lbs in 4 months. No way to exercise at all now because I was to ill. The steroids gave me cushings disease which cause high blood pressure stretch marks in strange places severe headaches to mention a few. So for the last 3 years I have just been trying to get some assemblence of normalcy. Unfortunately the lupus has been acting up and I need to take weekly chemo injections to manage that so I can function . I know that the band isn't going to cure all my diseases but I feel if I can get all this weight off I gained that I can't do more things like workout or even take a walk. I don't want to set my hopes to high but I really think it will improve some of my issues which will help give me more hope of having a more functional life. I have 2 amazing kids they are 14&12 and the best husband in the whole world! My surgery is set July 1,2013 and I couldn't be happier!
