not sure what to do. help me please
supnicolette posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone. I am 1 week post op from being banded. Everything has been going great so far..and im now drinking plenty of fluids and up and about everyday. The only issue im having is this super intense shoulder pain that I am assuming is from the gas. I had gas pain the first few days, in my back shoulders and basically my whole upper body. Every area is finally back to normal except my left shoulder. I literally feel like ive been beat with a back or all muscles are pulled. When I take a deap breathe in I can feel the pain in my shoulder. Ive been using a heating pad and lightly massaging it but nothing seems to help. I figured with all the walking ive been doing, the gas would have left me. I called my doctor and he said continue to use the heating pad and tylenol. Hmmm so now im stumped and now reaching out to all of you to see if theres anyone that has experienced what im dealing with. Any advice or ideas would be great. Thank u. -

Thanks everyone. I hope its not going to turn into something long term. Its just so painful and hard to concentrate on much of anything. Lady bug, what is maalox? To the girls going through the same thing. ..I hope we all find relief soon -
Hello everyone, I had my surgery last Wednesday. I am still on liquids but I am doing some early research on different recipes for the mushy foods phase. Any recipes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and have a blessed day everyone!

We were banded in the same week and all your posts have been sooo helpful to me. A true inspiration. I hope that you find a sense of calmness in this storm. From what you've said above, you are a true and passionate person and are always reaching out to help others. Hopefully you will take the time to nurture yourself. Its okay to be selfish at least for a couple of weeks. I am sipping and walking with you girlfriend! !!

I use muscle milk light and premier protein shakes. They are low in sugar (only 1 gram) and have a whopping 30 grams of protein in each! And they taste great!

Remember that this is a beautiful thing and your life is only up hill from here. Feel free to send me messages, I would be happy to help in any way I can -
Wow. Interesting. Ive never heard of a doctor that doesnt require a liver shrinking diet. Well thats good that you are enjoying everything while you can. As for me im looking forward to the mushy stage.

supnicolette replied to supnicolette's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is sooo awesome. Im so happy for you and the fact that you havent had any complications is even more of a bonus. Ive learned that this journey will take a great deal of patience but I am prepared for it because the end result is what is so rewarding. As for me, the past few days have been rough but im staying positive. Ive had a hard time dealing with the gas pain even tho in walking about 3 miles a day. Im on clear liquids but Im going to try a little soup tonight and see how I feel. Everyday gets alil easier -

Let me know if u hear anything please. I just got banded on may 8th. Im in san diego -
My name is Nicole by the way. I know you might be alil scared about some of the things youve heard but honestly, everyone is different and your experience will be unique just like you. This site has definitely helped me in many positive ways but sometimes ive read things too and have been so turned off it. I think its important to keep an open mind with this site because 95% of the people are not in the medical field and cant give u exact info or the diagnosis you need. Its more based off there personal experiences. . Which still is helpful. Im looking forward to getting to know you and doing this journey together do u have a surgery date?

Today I felt great. I am experiencing alot of pain from the gas but I just continue to move around. Today I went to balboa park here in san diego and spent a good 4 hours walking around, taking rests when I needed to. I've learned that every day gets alil easier. I am taking gas x strips and miralax to help with constipation. Im cconstantly sipping and staying hydrated. Also ive started journaling each day to document how im feeling. I was nervous to but I just continue to think of the end results. let me know if you have any questions, I will be happy to help with whatever I can. Have you started your pre op diet?

Good evening everyone! Im closing in on day 3 post op. Today was a great day for me. I was able to do alot of walking today. Went to balboa park here in san diego and walked around the art fair. It definitely took my mind off some of the lingering pain I still have from the gas. My surgery date was may 8th. I lost 11 pounds from my pre op diet and im sure a few more since then. I have been sticking to chicken broth, crystal light and jello and lots of water. Im trying to not take as much pain meds because I feel they make me somewhat dizzy but it also helps with the pain so its a love hate relationship. How is everyone else feeling today? Im so thankful for this site.
