    Squatty Potty did it!

    😂
  2. That's interesting. I quit Diet Coke like 15 years ago, even before I had lap band surgery. After quitting for years, I'd occasionally take a sip of my sons soda when he brought one home, and they don't even taste good to me anymore. It's strange how something that used to taste so good to me is disgusting now.
  3. 500 ml is like 16 oz. That's your large? Oooh I know why your large is really a small size there, y'all never get thirsty there cause you never break a sweat in Nordicland. 😁
  4. Hahaha American Super Sized lemonade.😂 Are our sizes really that much bigger than other countries?

    excited to be here!

Welcome! How awesome to have a live in surgery buddy! Best wishes to both of you on your surgeries!
  6. When I did get the fried chicken sandwiches, I never noticed the sweet taste because I order extra pickles x2, lol.
  7. No it doesn't have the sweet taste that the fried has.
  8. CFA is Chick Fil A, it's a place that has chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets and salads and lemonade exactly how you described. I guess I'd say it's one of the better fast food places in America. I mean the chicken is fresh not frozen and hand breaded, and their grilled chicken is really good.

1 week away from changing my life

I think it was a seasonal thing during summer. I don't think my Costco has it right now.

1 week away from changing my life

I found mine at Costco, but it was still a whole case.

I like the Premier Protein clear protein water peach flavor. It's really the only one that I've tried besides the Gatorade protein packets that you add to a bottle of water. The Premier Protein was a lot better than the Gatorade and had more protein. Like 20 grams I think.
  12. Ha! Well that's a good thing. You'd melt here. 😎
  13. Oh yeah... what part of the US did you visit?
  14. I always get the CFA kids meal with grilled nuggets, fresh fruit and diet lemonade. Their diet lemonade rocks.

    I’m in the ER

Yeah it sounds like it could be a kidney stone. Been there, done that. As bad as kidney stones are, I guess it's a good thing it's not a complication with your sleeve. I hope you feel better soon!

    1st fill and blah

Expect to feel pressure when you eat or drink. That's how a a Lap Band with saline in it works. That's the restriction you need to eat smaller portions. You need to sip small amounts and allow it to pass from your pouch, then through the Lap Band and into your stomach. Imagine water passing through a funnel. It slows down at the bottom opening because it's so much smaller than the rest of the funnel. Lap Band is the same concept pretty much, so you have to do everything slower. I always felt my fill right away. My surgeon was liberal with fills. As far as timing of fills, you'd have to ask your team about that. Usually they see how you do for a month or so to see if you lose weight at that fill amount. Be patient, it can take quit a bit of to get to your ideal fill amount.

1st fill and confused and disappointed

Lap Band's come in two sizes, 10 ml and 14 ml. So depending on which size band you have, 2.5 cc won't do much as far as restriction goes. And as far as after a fill, my surgeon only required 2 days of liquids after a fill. And I agree with Catwoman, Lap Bands are outdated due to all of the problems they cause people. So I'm confused to why surgeons are still placing them. Nonetheless, I wish you well. My Lap Band journey was a hell of a ride. Best wishes!

    What Led To Revision

I had a lap band for 7 years and I had it removed almost a year ago due to GERD. I'm revising to RNY in the near future.

    Food Woes

I agree about the protein bars. I've never heard of these. I don't consume any protein bars, so I'm unfamiliar with them. There's a "10:1 ratio rule" and it is a guide to use to determine if the calorie to protein ratio is bariatric friendly. For every 1 gram of protein, you should have no more than 10 calories. So in the almond butter Perfect Bar there's 320 calories, but only 13 grams of protein. For a food that has 13 grams of protein per serving, to be bariatric friendly it should have no more than 130 calories per serving. Sent from my SM-G991U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Needing some encouragement.

I agree. 💯 My new surgeon told me that the weight that I did lose with the band was probably mostly my doing. Not the band.

    Needing some encouragement.

Are you tracking everything you eat and drink on an app like My Fitness Pal? I had a lap band for about 7 years and I did lose weight, but not all that I wanted to. So it was successful to some extent. On my post op journey while reading forums here, it was frustrating to see others who had RNY, DS or Sleeve losing weight faster than me. Lap band definitely offers slower weight loss results than the other surgeries. So I understand how you're feeling. While we spend months trying to get the perfect restriction (green zone) the other folks who have RNY, DS, Sleeve, and I don't want to leave out the MGB this time (for @MiniGastricBypassDude 😂 Sorry I left your surgery out up there ^ 😂) folks that had these surgeries were losing weight from day one. It's just harder for banders, we really in some ways have to work harder because we have more time from post op with less restriction. So hang in there, exercise if you can and track your food and make good food choices, optimize your protein. Best wishes!

    Major complications after surgery

I'm so sorry to hear about your difficult recovery, but I hope you heal quickly.

    Psychiatric Evaluation done... Finally.

That's pretty sad. On these forums I see people on here from time to time and the questions they ask or the situations that they find themselves in, I often wonder how they passed their psych evaluation, because it's obvious that they have deeper issues that needed addressing before proceeding with wls.
