    Nuclear Stress Test

Well that sucks. Hopefully they get you scheduled quickly. 🤞

Working out and eating too much

Look into the BMR calculator and TDEE calculator. I feel that they're very insightful at this stage when you start exercising. BMR tells you how many calories your body uses at rest, and TDEE tells you how many calories your body uses at the specific energy level that you expend (exercise). These calculations help you to determine where you should be as far as caloric intake is concerned. Best wishes!

    Hello, any veterens around?

    Thank you! 🤗

    Hello, any veterens around?

No mostly just GERD. I never made it to my goal weight with the band, so hoping to lose more weight with the revision. I just had my first appointment about a month ago to start the process, and I have one more visit with the dietician next week and then I see the surgeon for a pre op visit and I'll get my date then. We're thinking it might work out for the end of April tho.

    Hello, any veterens around?

😂 I do have a cousin in Naval Intelligence, since you asked. She's not here tho, lol.

    Hello, any veterens around?

Yeah, that was the cause of my divorce from my band... GERD. I lived with it for years, and was on Protonix twice daily and it didn't help much at all. I still had to sleep sitting up. When I developed a kidney stone from PPI usage, I filed for divorce immediately. 😁

    Hello, any veterens around?

Well, this veteran is starting over. I was married to a Lap Band for about 7 years, then I got that infamous 7 year itch and divorced him! I'm in the process of revising to bypass now. How's your journey going, @Tink22-sleeve?

    Weight loss after surgery

It depends what your weight is on the day of surgery. I mean those that have more to lose often lose faster, those that have less to lose often lose slower. But there's so many factors that determine weight loss. Two informative calculators to use that can guide you on your weight loss journey is the BMR and TDEE.

    Nuclear Stress Test

Yeah, it's because with such a long surgery it's easier for the nurses and anesthesiologist to push meds from either side of the OR table.

    Nuclear Stress Test

Oh wow! I hope it goes well. I've heard that the nuclear stress test feels super weird, lol. And you may as well get over the hatred of IV needles, you have your sleeve surgery IV to look forward to. This reminds me of a surgery I had and it lasted 11 hours. I woke up with an IV in each arm and in each foot. 😫 I hope your stress test goes well and you get clearance. 🤞

    Sleeve or Bypass? Confused

Yep, same. My surgeon said if I was set on sleeve, she wouldn't operate, lol. I'm so glad she has my best interest at heart.

    One Year Sleeve Anniversary!!

Do you exercise? That's what made a huge difference for me. With my somatotype, I have to exercise or else I don't do as well. As you lose weight and your BMR decreases, sometimes you have to adjust your calories so you keep losing. That's why exercise helps me so much. Best wishes on your continued weight loss journey!

    Food Woes

Same, girl. Same! I'm almost a year out from my Lap Band being removed and I've been eating around 600 calories a day. Terrified of regain. I haven't regained while waiting for my revision to bypass tho, thankfully.

    Sleeve or Bypass? Confused

Yes, I'm aware. I gave you my personal experience with GERD and high pressure system wls's, which is VSG and Lap Band. My surgeon said since I have a history of GERD, even tho after my band was removed, the GERD disappeared, she said VSG wasn't an option, due to the damage that the GERD has done. I was only giving you my experience as an FYI, hopefully it will give you some food for thought on which surgery to choose.

    Sleeve or Bypass? Confused

Sleeve and Lap Band operate under a high pressure system. It puts a lot of pressure on your esophageal sphincter. Some people with these surgeries develop issues with GERD and esophageal motility issues years after having their surgeries. Sure GERD will go away with weight loss, but after years of high pressure on the sphincter, GERD can manifest again. I had a Lap Band for seven years and had it removed a year ago due to GERD and revising to RNY soon.

  18. Ah, I use the app on my phone. I can't see the sidebar. It's not as user friendly as the desktop version. I mostly use my laptop for BP.
  19. This is exactly why Alex needs to bring back the chat room here. Sorry to hijack your thread, @PuraVida37! @Pollito already diagnosed you. He said you're following the margarita diet. 🍹

    The BEST grilled chicken recipe

This is my go to recipe for grilled chicken, which I eat quite often. I usually grill a large batch and cube it and freeze it in small portions. The baste prevents the chicken from drying out, so it makes it easier to eat after wls. I also use a meat mallet and make the chicken breasts more like a fillet, so it grills evenly and this also prevents them from drying out because the entire breast cooks evenly. Sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of chicken breasts, and before you put the chicken on the grill, mop the baste over one side of the chicken breasts, and place baste side down on the grill. Before turning chicken breasts, mop baste on the chicken then flip. Best grilled over charcoal with cherry wood chips. Voila✨. Grill seasoning 1/4 cup salt 4 tbs. coarse black pepper 3 tsp. granulated garlic 3 tsp. granulated onion powder 3 tsp. dried oregano 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes Grill baste: 2 tbs. butter 1 small onion, finely diced 4 garlic cloves, minced 1 tbs. flour 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 2 tbs. lemon juice 1 tbs. dijon mustard 1 1/2 tbs. sugar 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook about 1 minute, but don't allow it to brown. Stir in the flour, allow to cook without browning, about 1 minute. Whisk in the olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, mustard, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low. Add the parsley and whisking often, until lightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Let cool. The baste will separate. Whisk well before using. The baste can be made ahead and refrigerated. Bring to room temperature before using.

Anyone have LapBand to DS revision?

Thank you ma'am. Best wishes to you as well! 🤗
  23. OMG! 😂 I'd become a human icicle in winter anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line! 🥶 Who am I kidding, anywhere north of Florida I'd die in winter. 😂
  24. Well the BP app looks completely different than desktop version. I don't really like the app, it looks so generic and you don't see any of the sidebar info that you do on desktop. So I'm guessing that's why so many people don't fill out their info. It would be nice if BP upgraded their app so that it looks like the desktop version.
