    Any Regrets?

Okay first of all, I never commented that anyone who does not agree with me is, "foolish and childish." My comment >>> And there's also other weight loss surgeries than the sleeve. Each surgery has it's own benefits and risks. It's best to get all of the information and read about personal outcomes to help decide which surgery is best for you or if surgery is even an option. But discounting real side effects/complications of wls is just foolish and chidlish. I commented that discounting real side effects/complications of wls is just foolish and childish. Secondly, "texts" as in typed comments on this site. Such as this the ead when you were being patronizing. Thirdly, I never once said anyone should NOT get VSG. Not once. Please show me where I typed that. I simply said... "Each surgery has its own benefits and risks. It's best to get all of the information and read about personal outcomes to help decide which surgery is best for you or if surgery is even an option." I posted ONE study. It's food for thought for those considering any weight loss surgery. I don't "keep quoting one study" I posted one once. You can't seem to make a viable rebuttal in this thread. You seem to be confusing me for saying things I didn't say and quoting studies that I didn't post. 🤦‍♀️

Those reactions are possibly just jealousy/envy rearing its ugly head. It happens, unfortunately. And yeah that does seem like a lot of weight loss per week that far out. Maybe she should reach out to her nutritionist and see what they say.

    Clear protein drink

If it's possible to buy only one or two to try, do that. Our tastes tend to change like @kcuster83 mentioned. Also Bariatric Pal has a store and they have "protein shots" I've never tried them, but I recall Alex saying his favorite is the crisp apple. He mentioned that it's tart. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/bariatricpal-25g-whey-protein-collagen-power-shots-crisp-apple?variant=31264231325773

Here's a thread that helps to explain how to fill out your info!

    Any Regrets?

🤦‍♀️ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31279562/#:~:text=Background%3A The development of gastroesophageal,LSG is up to 35%. 35% is more than 1/3 of sleeve patients. That seems significant to me. And yes, it's not typical GERD. Please stop being so condescending on these posts. I've noticed that even via text you are very condescending. The point of these threads is to be informative and supportive. It's not my surgery vs your surgery, etc. We're sharing information (often our personal experiences from years of living with weight loss surgery) to allow people to make informed decisions and to sit back and type, "GERD, yes, but to the point you mention, absolutely not. I would say it is extremely rare and the medical professionals I spoke to confirm that." It is not rare. When patients experience post weight loss surgery GERD it is not typical. The strongest PPI's on a double dose doesn't touch it.

    Any Regrets?

Which surgery are you having? Could you please fill out your surgery stats in the sidebar so we know your details and how to address replies to you? Thx. And yes, PPI's are often prescribed for acid issues, but in my case, they didn't help and I had to stay awake all night until my food digested so I wouldn't regurgiate food into my mouth or worse, aspirate it into my lungs. So I'd go to sleep sitting up in a recliner at about 5 am every morning. Don't bank on the PPI's to solve your GERD or acid issues, because sometimes the acid issues are so bad nothing helps. Speaking from personal experience here... Lap Band and Sleeve surgeries operate under a high pressure system and put increased pressure on the esophageal sphincter which can leads stomach acids refluxing into the throat in some patients.

    estimated weight loss

I only mentioned the support part because it happens. If you read this thread, you'll get an understanding what, we the weight loss surgery patients often deal with from those closest to us. And also this calculator for weight loss surgery can give you a guesstimate of what she might weigh when her body settles on its new weight. https://www.obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/gastric-bypass/how-much-can-i-expect-to-lose I plugged in her info and it says at 18 months out, 20% of sleeve patients weigh 185. Check it out for yourself. Just make sure you're looking at the correct surgery. It gives options for Band, Bypass and Sleeve.

    Any Regrets?

Post weight loss surgery GERD is real. GERD so bad that PPI's can't touch it. PPI's have very bad side effects. I got a kidney stone from overuse of PPI's for post weight loss surgery GERD. GERD is causing wls patients to get Barrett's esophagus and Barrett's esophagus can become esophageal cancer. These are serious effects of weight loss surgery that should be taken seriously and all potential weight loss surgery patients should be aware that it's not just heartburn or reflux and depending on which surgery you choose, it could happen to you... It's an individual decision that one must weigh their own personal comorbidities/issues for deciding on wls against the benefits and risks of wls. And there's also other weight loss surgeries than the sleeve. Each surgery has it's own benefits and risks. It's best to get all of the information and read about personal outcomes to help decide which surgery is best for you or if surgery is even an option. But discounting real side effects/complications of wls is just foolish and chidlish.

    estimated weight loss

It's difficult to answer this question because you told us she now weighs 209 pounds, but you failed to give her height. Is she 5'10, 5'? Which surgery did she have? Why are you scared she's going to lose too much weight? Maybe you're just not used to her being at a "healthy weight." I hope you're supporting her weight loss journey to a new, healthier weight and not badgering her about "losing too much weight" There's nothing worse than someone close to you not being supportive when you're trying to become healthier. J/s.

    Nerves!

This is the entire point of getting weight loss surgery. To help you get healthier. These are your baseline labs. At one of your upcoming post op visit, possibly your one year post op appointment, your doctor will reorder these tests and show you how much improvement you have made after losing weight. It's not about denying you for weight loss surgery.

    TOURQUE REVISION ?

I believe they meant Tore revision. I think autocorrect got them, lol. It's a revision for gastric bypass that is performed endoscopically. They make the pouch smaller by plicating and stapling a smaller pouch.

    Favorite salad (from chain restaurant)

The Moe's salad isn't spicy. I mean the chicken and dressing isn't. The way I get the salad made is spicy because I ask for jalapenos. Think of Moe's like a subway. They customize your order for you. You choose what goes in your salad, burrito, nachos, etc. I'm not sure if I have a Tropical Smoothie Cafe near me. I'll have to check.

    Favorite salad (from chain restaurant)

Zaxby's Buffalo Blue Zalad. I get it with grilled chicken buffaloed, instead of the fried. Ngl, the fried tastes good, but the grilled is healthier. I love Moe's grilled chicken salad. You can customize it as far as what goes in it and which dressing. I get romaine, pico de gallo, black beans, black olives, cilantro and jalapenos and shredded cheese with chipotle ranch dressing. Cheesecake Factory has Skinnylicious salads. I like the Asian Chicken and Skinnylicious Mexican Tortilla salad. And their Thai Chicken salad. Thai salad isn't Skinnylicious.
