Screwed up the PreOp diet today

Just get back on the pre-op plan and don't stray again. You should be fine.

    Pureed diet need new ideas

Refried beans is another option. I'd add a load of fire sauce and then some Greek yogurt on the side, in place of sour cream, since you can't have cheese. I have an unnatural love affair of all things hot and spicy. I hope I can still eat spicy stuffies after the bypass.

    Pureed diet need new ideas

I remember making the ricotta bake and making buffalo chicken dip during the puree stage. I blended the chicken first. It was okay and not noticeable because it's mostly cream cheese with some hot sauce and I used the ranch dip packet instead of the bottled ranch.

I was just reading about another RNY patient that is 11 weeks post op and still experiencing nausea. You might want to read what they said or even inbox them for advice.

    Blood sugar levels high

Maybe it was a lab error. It does happen. Do you ever have elevated glucose levels? Even slight? Maybe they will order an A1C to the tests that they drew today. It will tell them how stable your glucose has been in the last few months. Or just reorder the test in a few days.

WLS and MS (getting the sleeve)

Wow he's an advocate for narcotics?? That's almost unheard of here. Everything has changed recently. So glad I'm so much better and not going to pain management anymore. I traded Celebrex for CBD oil and it seems to be keeping the inflammation down pretty well. I was on Celebrex for years and although everyone is different. I did develop GERD with my lap band and even after it was removed I had some reflux for a while until I stopped the Celebrex. So I came to the conclusion that it was irritating my stomach to some degree. So just be aware that it's possible. You're welcome! And I wouldn't say always. You never know what the future holds. Once you lose your weight you might get the inflammation under control and be asymptomatic. I know as I've lost weight my RA has gotten better and better. I never dreamed I would ever be functioning without a biologic and without Celebrex. But I am. So have hope! I was diagnosed about 20 years ago. So I know what you mean about being used to it. 😉

Surgery on Wednesday. Scared, 2nd thoughts

Which surgery are you having and what scares you about it? Not being hungry after surgery is termporary for most people, but not all. Hunger always comes back. Sure you'll get to enjoy food again, just in smaller portions, and depending on which surgery you have chosen, there might be some foods you may need to avoid so you won't encounter dumping syndrome. Wls is just something we adapt to. It's a compromise for a more normal sized, healthier body. As you start to see the benefits of the surgery... (the scale moving downward, etc) and you adapt to smaller portions, you slowly ease into a new way of life. Only you can decide if this is what you want and if you're ready for it. I wish you the best!

3 weeks post op and struggling with nausea

Are you on a PPI? Excess acid could be making you nauseous. It could be many things. You should contact your bariatric team. They might admit you for fluids, nutrition and testing. I really hope you get answers and feel better soon! 🤗

Large Hiatal hernia: Bypass or Sleeve

I didn't even know I had a hiatal hernia either when I had my lap band placed. My surgeon told me beforehand that if I had one she would repair it, and she said I most likely did have one. I guess hiatal hernias and obesity are the same as Forrest Gump and Jenny when Forrest said, "Jenny and me are like peas and carrots!" They just go together. Well. A lot of the time they do.

WLS and MS (getting the sleeve)

Hi! I don't have MS but I have RA. I know it's like comparing apples and oranges, but they're still fruit. They're both still autoimmune diseases. I've had umm about six surgeries since my diagnosis and I've never experienced a flare from surgery. I do experience flares still occasionally, so it's not that I do not flare, but surgery never brings them on. My rheumy attributes my lack of flares to be that my RA is pretty much in remission. My rheumy is my biggest cheerleader for getting revision to RNY. She says getting to a more normal bmi will decrease inflammation and make my disease even milder. She says if I do flare after surgery, no problem, she'll just administer a steroid injection. So your neuro cleared you for surgery, they must feel that the benefits of the surgery will outweigh the risks. If you have any doubt, schedule another appointment with your neuro and discuss it with them. Has your wls surgeon okay'ed you for continuing the celebrex after sleeve surgery? I stopped mine after committing to revision to RNY. I had to know I could survive without it forever. I wish you all the best!

    RNY GB to DS Revision

Hi! 👋 Welcome to the forums! Best wishes on your revision!

Regret is normal and part of the process for many

Some people don't realize that the gas travels upwards through tissue through the back and to the shoulder. And they don't know why they go in for wls surgery and end up with back and shoulder pains. That's where my gas pain was the worst. Back and shoulders. The only thing that sort of helped was to change positions, from recliner, walk around and take hot showers. To let the hot water hit my back and shoulders. It just takes time for the gas to work its way out of your tissues.

    pain medication

No I found out about them online. But I wouldn't recommend them for anyone who had a weight loss procedure because they can block absorption of nutrients. (They use activated charcoal in the hospital to block absorption in overdose patients) I only used it this one time because I had just had surgery to remove my lap band, so I was eating just fine. I took them the day after surgery.
  18. I still don't know what Optifast is. 🤔 Off to Google I go...
  19. Yeah I did the whole unfill and wait, then filled it back up. Nothing changed. It just prolonged the unevitable.

Day 4 pre op liquid diet

Those powder protein shake mixes do seriously suck. I'm a fan of Fairlife shakes now. It's basically just ultra filtered milk. So it tastes whey (way) 😂 better.

    Protein Shakes Prop65

This!! 👆 Yes! We all have free radicals floating around in our bodies, more so as we age, so yeah it's a matter of time or a matter of when our immune system fails us. I guess. Thanks for your scientific input @lizonaplane

Aww well I hope it improves as the weight falls off! 🤗

    pain medication

Well that's interesting. Any idea if losing weight will help improve the severity of the diverticulosis?
  24. I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡

    pain medication

Yeah the pain meds don't help the gas pains. It sucks. When I had my lap band removed last year, I did take activated charcoal capsules for the gas pains and it did help. But I won't take it after my revision surgery because it can cause prevent absorption of nutrients. Do you use CBD oil for your chronic pain? I use it and it helps me a lot. I have RA.
