Ok. So I have for the most part followed all my doctors/NUTS guidelines. But yesterday, yesterday drew a line for me. My NUT tried to inform me that I can no longer drink: milk, juice of any kind, coffee(unless black and decaf), no sports drinks- nothing at all with calories. Further more no soup no broth no stews and no chilis no cereal... Then proceeds to tell me that I have to start living in the real world and if I cook something for my family that I can't have but really want it, to have some but not to go crazy... How on earth is that solid advice? I'm 64 lbs down in 12 weeks and she tells me I can never have a cup of coffee again!? What is she going to do if I have regular coffee with sugar free/fat free creamer?? Take my sleeve away? Some of these rules seem utterly ridiculous... I know they are set in play to encourage steady weight loss but should they really make so many rules? We know we need to make healthier choices but to say NO MORE? That makes me want it twice as bad and per her advice apparently I should have it then..... So confusing! Rant over!!

She just baffled me "You can eat pretty much anything you want kid- just make smart choices" then BAM she throws this list out there and I'm like ??? Your making all my choices for me now, how am I supposed to make the sleeve work for me and my lifestyle if I can't enjoy a bowl of Cereal with my kids on Saturday morning (and I JUST bought a kashi high Protein cereal!!) I get it though I do. I've made lots and lots of changes and lots and lots of sacrifices in the past 12 weeks I guess someone throwing down a food "bible" at me and telling me to abide it all really yanks and my heart strings. I want to be accountable for working my sleeve...

Pain Level after Surgery
kailie replied to sleeve 101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have given birth twice to 8+ pound babies and I was in more pain from this then child birth. I did figure out that sleep was key, I napped through out the day for a week plus slept hard at night. Walking was also key to get gas pain out. And I slept in my lazy boy recliner for a month with extra pillows because laying flat or on my side was too painful. Other then that stuff the one thing that saved me from being a total whiney baby was the liquid Vicodin they sent me home with. Don't let him miss any doses or it will be hard. -
I went to the grocery store today and I was stumped. At 4 weeks out, what do you eat?
kailie replied to endless80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At four weeks I was living off imitation crab, shrimp cocktail, deli lunch meats, canned peaches, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese bakes, Greek yogurt, egg salad, tuna salad and string cheese. Oh and mashed potatoes with dry non fat milk mixed in with Greek yogurt and shredded cheese -

After surgery I got in a pretty heated discussion with my nurse (while still groggy from anesthesia) I was super nauseous and I wanted to lay flat because that always helps my stomach settle and she wouldn't let me!! She said it would make me more nauseous and then put a lock on my bed remote so that it wouldn't go down I was so pissed lol

Super light headed and dizzy
kailie replied to NotLookinBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get dizzy and light headed if I'm doing too much or I haven't had enough to eat. Sometimes it's hard for me to decide the exact cause. When I feel like that my routine is to get a small glass of orange juice a string cheese and to sit/lay down. I take a few mins to eat the cheese, wait about 5 mins and sip on the o.j. And in about 20 mins from start to finish I feel better. -
I take flinstones complete gummies (3) with an additional iron pill. I also have to start a calcium supplement soon too.

If you did poorly on the pre-op diet, did it affect your sucess afterwards?
kailie replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you feeling shame for your 3 week pre op diet because you feel your doctor thinks you need to lose more to perform surgery? Or shame because you will cheat through out those 3 weeks? No joke my surgeon told me if I was going to cheat-fine but I best make sure I was still losing weight and not to go crazy. If your doctor feels you need a 3 week pre op it's honestly in your best interest. If its bothering you this much maybe you should call and ask why? -
My teeth are now turning yellow. What the hay?
kailie replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you know that ketosis really has nothing to do with all the Protein or Protein shakes. It's actually the result of the body burning fat cells for energy!? And as far as the bad breath, "But there is one type of ketone molecule, called acetone, that cannot be used and is excreted as waste, mostly in the urine and breath" Nothing out plaque build up or "fuzzy" teeth though?! I don't so much have the bad breath just the sweaters on my teeth. http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/faq/f/whatisketosis.htm -

When will i love my sleeve? :-/
kailie replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Want to know a secret? Powdered milk and Greek yogurt are truly your best friends! Like mashed potatoes?? Add 1/3 of a cup powdered milk plus whatever else you enjoy on them, for extra protein add plain Greek yogurt as "sour cream" with some bacon crumbles and shredded cheese. In a half cup of "potatoes" you could have 15ish grams of protein. It will take you an hour to eat.. But you'll feel better the next day if you get your protein in today. eggs with shredded cheese. Tuna with Greek yogurt. Cottage cheese. Gotta think outside the box. My nut recommended I drink a glass of skim milk for Breakfast every morning with 1/3 cup powdered milk.. 16grams of protein-done! -

Why am I not seeing any difference?
kailie replied to Peggy D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sooo.. Your clothes defiantly are not tight on you anymore. Were you just not able to see it until all these people told you they could see it? Also, do you wear pants or do you wear skirts and dresses? Because a flowy skirt is not going to show much difference in your buttocks thighs and calves. I suggest getting a seamstress measuring tape and start taking measurements of all your different body parts. So when the scale isn't moving you could still see a difference with measuring... -
Did you ask surgeon about his technique?
kailie replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just ask him how he does his procedures. I did, my doctor was pleased to tell me the step by step process. If he doesn't include the suture ask him if he would consider it and explain to him you know why other surgeons do that and so on. Any doctor who gets pissed about explaining what is going to happen inside of you while you are put to sleep shouldn't be allowed near you. Lol -
It's such a chore. If it weren't for my children demanding to be fed I don't think I'd even have food in the house....
