Weight loss slowed after beginning exercise

Edited after reading more posts and googling :-) The more muscle you build the better you'll feel. Your body will begin to respond to your workout sessions and you'll begin to lose more weight in the long run :-) hang in there..you're going to start shedding the pounds! http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=8311&sc=128
  2. I am four weeks post op as of today! The first two weeks were pretty horrible. I had a lap band attempt that could not be completed and long story short, a week later I got the sleeve. They had to reopen three of the original wounds so healing took awhile and the pain was pretty bad. The third week was better and now I feel pretty good :-) My concern is this. I passed the liquid stage and the pureed stage with no cheating! Now I'm onto the- for 2 weeks eat real food but take it easy stage- yaaaay! Problem..I find that I can eat almost everything without feeling badly. I think I can eat too much. In fact I know I'm eating too much..it's more than I expected and wanted :-( Has anyone else had this issue? I almost feel like my doctor didn't remove the proper amount of my stomach. I am also hungry often. It's not head hunger which I did go through badly weeks two and three. I feel like I'm sitting working only with my shaky self control..oh no :-( I was sleeved April 30th..I'm 5'2" was 250. Between pre-op diet and these past four weeks I am now 230. Did the urge to eat lessen for anyone? Did the ability to eat so much get any less? Thx for your help. This forum has helped me a lot so far :-)

    6 weeks post op

Hey Fran how are you doing with eating?
  4. Hi there. I'm exactly five weeks post-op today yaaay! I had a very difficult 2-3 weeks healing process but at 4 weeks I started to feel much better and now I feel pretty good. Im 5'2" and started my journey at 248 lbs on April 1st. I lost 10 lbs during the pre-op diet period and I was sleeved on May 1st. By June 1st I had lost 11 more lbs. I have lost a total of 21 lbs in two months. I can't say I'm not disappointed especially reading how do many people are losing so so so much faster :-( I try to remain positive and keep in mind that I'm losing and not gaining! Unfortunately Ive become hungry..not head hunger which I was prepared for tnx to this forum..but real hunger! I can also eat quite a lot..a lot more than I expected it wanted in fact =-O I haven't tried to push the limit and get as full as I can. I follow the protein first, no water 15 mins before and 30 mins after rules. I'm still figuring out out I'd guess. So here's the main question that I'm hoping y'all can help me with. I have three herniated discs in the lower back region and two around the neck area. I've had 3 horrible sciatic attacks in the last 5 years and cannot do exercises with heavier weights/Zuma /yoga etc. I CAN walk and have a treadmill now. Does anyone have any advice about exercises I can manage? Tnx in advance :-)
  5. Hi there..I was told by my physician that yoga was a definite no no. Pilates was a good way to go, third behind swimming and water aerobics. I'm pretty strapped for cash as I'm a public school teacher lol but summer vacation is coming up fast and my husband and I have decided this summer will be about our health so I will not be working :-) I'm going to look up recommended places for low impact Pilates and try to start slowly by walking as much as possible. I got a treadmill off craigslist :-)

    10 things I can't wait to do

This is a lovely hilarious inspirational thread! 1. Feel comfortable, sitting, standing, in a diner booth, in the fitting room, in my own skin 2. Have my husband pick me up and carry me across the room or spin me around weekly at least 3. Lose the negative feelings that accompany being obese like being embarrassed, ashamed, anxious, resigned, anti-social, guilty 4. Travel more whether it's within the US or across the seas no longer restricted by not fitting in seats or being winded walking around sight seeing 5. Become medication free/healthy, no more high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid issues, breathing issues, heat rashes 6. Start wearing clothes that reflect me and my personality instead of wearing shapeless bland pieces that fit 7. Not receive looks anymore or advice from good intentioned loved ones about my weight and health 8. Eat to live and not live to eat..enjoy every bit of food ensuring I enjoy every bit of my new life 9. Have a child (I'm 40 this September) and be able to keep up 10. Live a long and healthy pain free life with the few I cherish in my life Thank you for this thread and those that have responded :-)

    I'm angry!

QUOTE="Carol1560"]Girl, There is no way you are hungry. It was hard for me too! I was hungry a few days after surgery and at six and a half weeks I am STILL hungry. Yes it's a true hunger NOT head hunger and I checked with my nutritionist and surgeon and it happens. I even doubted my sleeve up until yesterday big time since I seemed to have no restriction and could eat so much! Well yesterday I went out to Celebrate my best friends birthday. Long story short, I now believe the sleeve restricts lol! Though it felt horrible I don't regret it because I feel better knowing that though I will never be one of those 3 spoonfuls and I'm full people I can't pig out add I used to! To the poster of this string..I felt crappy dissed and angry till four weeks out when I could stay eating real foods again. Now at over six weeks where I can eat almost everything I feel better. I can't eat as much as I used to but all the food I've re-introduced have been tolerated :-) hand in there..it gets better! I doubted it too :-)

    Overeating

I'm six and a half weeks out and I eat! I still love food..even moreso I think since it took this amount of time to be able to eat again! It's extra delicious. I was very very worried since it seemed that I could eat A LOT and felt no restriction from my sleeve :-( Even though I'm not eating NEARLY as much before surgery I didn't expect to be able to eat so much! I've also been at a four week stall and a slow loser so I was starting to get anxious and depressed. Well..I had a birthday dinner to attend last night and felt that I was physically and emotionally ready. We ordered and I started off carefully assessing what I ate and chewing a lot then at some point I looked down and saw I had a water in my hand and it was 1/3 drained! Oops! Next thing I know my favorite dish came out. I heard a little voice in my head telling me I was done but I had to have a bite. The bus later I was in the bathroom and vomited. It wasn't a lot of vomit but it happened. It was also accompanied by the pain in the throat/chest area as described by many people in this forum. Very uncomfortable. It lasted about two hours. It hurt badly enough that I want to avoid it lol! It is definitely going to help me NOT overeat..I think :-) I'm still learning..

    Who can eat everything?

Here is an update to my no restriction issue. I am now six and a half weeks post-op. I had gone out to eat once at six weeks and had a birthday dinner to attend at my favorite restaurant yesterday! I felt like I was ready and mentally prepared and the previous time I went out to eat for the first time it was fabulous :-) So yesterday dinner was at a Korean bbq place so much of the meal is communal. When we got there and ordered I started off carefully assessing each bite and laboriously chewing etc. At some point in the middle of dinner I noticed my water glass in my hand and saw 1/3 was gone..uh oh! Secondly I started to feel a pressure for the first time in the middle of my chest. I waited a while and continued with my meal especially since the yummiest dish had just come out! A little voice warned me not to take the bite. I didn't listen. Three bites later I was in the bathroom. I puked. It was only a little and it actually helped because simultaneously I felt pain in my throat/chest area that I've been reading about in this forum. The pain was very uncomfortable. I had to burp but couldn't and felt if I pushed to try I would vomit. It lasted for about two hours. I came home, took a shower and went to bed early. I feel fine today albeit tired and a little freaked since I have not lost a pound in four weeks (but not gained any either). On the up side, I finally know I do have restriction through the sleeve though I must have a sleeve on the largish side! I also think the variety of food played a factor in my getting sick. I learned an important lesson or two last night and wanted to share :-) Thx for listening and any advice or feedback is appreciated :-)

I tried the revs..they're a high protein, reasonable carb handy dandy punch but the sodium content is really really high..most are over 40% daily allowance..eep!

    Who can eat everything?

I'm six weeks out tomorrow. With the go ahead from my nutritionist I started incorporating EVERYTHING last week except big chunks of meat like steak and raw"tough" veggies. I can "unfortunately" eat everything and feel no ill effects. I can eat quite a bit too :'( I haven't tried to push it and eat as much as I can or anything though I suspect I could eat as much as anyone that has not been sleeved. I'm starting to wonder if my surgeon left too much of my stomach!

    bread hurts my sleeve

I am six weeks out tomorrow. I can eat bread though I'm trying to control myself, it's my downfall :-) I have eaten the Arnold's multigrain flat 100 calorie "bun", an inch of birthday cake and wheat bread with no issues. I have toasted the bread all but once, again no issues. This makes me nervous but protein first then everything else after I'd the mantra I try to follow..

    Is 2-3 ounces my normal

Hey Fulton :-) when I was on liquids and even puree I was eating/drinking A LOT all day almost without ANY restriction. I'm on full solids now with the exception of large chunks of meat like steak and soft bread. I can still eat a lot..a lot more than I expected or wanted..six ounces per sitting plus, but nowhere near the amount of ounces of the liquid or puree stage ! My doc and nut said it was normal and fine..I trust them so I'll try not to get discouraged or jealous of those who are losing quickly or are restricted far more than I :-)

    Is 2-3 ounces my normal

I'm six weeks out tomorrow. I just had a post op with my surgeon and nutritionist and got positive feedback though I was really unsure. I'm consuming just under 1,000 calories a day, about 50-60g of protein and and eat about 6 ounces at a sitting. I feel like I can eat too much and ask myself constantly if this is normal :-( BUT both my doc and nut said I'm doing well so though I should increase both my fluid and protein a bit..the scale hasn't moved for almost three weeks but I'm sure it will..positive thinking..trying your best to do the right thing..one day at a time :-)

I Did It The Baked Ricotta!

I've been living on this recipe since the puree stage! I'm heading towards week six..it's a fantastic yummy go to food :-) I cut down on the parm cheese to about half what the recipe calls for and added some twists..sometimes I'll add some grated zucchini topping and this week I chopped up pepperoni and added it in..yuuuuum! Using low fat or 2% cheese makes the calorie count about 50-75 per serving :-)

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

This thread is one of the best things about this forum. Those that are unsure and frustrated can turn to others and get supported and reassured :-) As per doctors orders I was on a diet then the 2 week pre-op diet (April 1st till surgery). I was sleeved on May 1st. I lost 10 lbs in April and 10 in May. From the third week in May till now I haven't lost a single pound! I'm eating 800-950 calories, doing so-so on protein, less than good on water, walking everyday..it's so frustrating! I'm doing everything right according to the nutritionist and surgeon and they both patted my hand and said I will lose the weight but..sigh..wth? Reading about others whose weight is just flying off is now making me heavy hearted so it's good to hear I'm not alone! I'm trying to remain positive and appreciate everyone whose idea of support is sharing their story and remaining POSITIVE despite the frustration :-) thx! Those that are negative I'll just try harder to ignore

    Party after surgery!

A lot of people react differently to the surgery. I know that I was nowhere near ready to use the bathroom or even sleep comfortably let alone go to a party. Take it a day at a time :-)

    mayy sleeverss

I was sleeved May 1st. I am hungry quite often. At this point I can also eat a lot. Compared to how much I used to eat lol..it's not even close though :-) I'm taking in about 1,000-1,200 calories. My nutritionist, who I saw yesterday, said that was fine. She was more concerned about my protein and water intake or lack thereof. How about you?

    sleeved may 6th..this is tough!

Hi there. I'm five weeks post-op. I had a VERY difficult 2-3 weeks healing process but at 4 weeks I started to feel better..finally..I had a lot of pain..difficulty with my bowl movements..a rash down south..was hungry all the time..and so so tired! It continued until almost exactly a month after surgery then I woke up and felt less crappy Im 5'2" and started my journey at 248 lbs on April 1st. I lost 10 lbs during the pre-op diet period and I was sleeved on May 1st. By June 1st I had lost 11 more lbs. I have lost a total of 21 lbs in two months. Ive also become really hungry..not head hunger but real hunger! I can also eat quite a lot..a lot more than I expected or wanted in fact =-O I'm still figuring out out I'd guess. I don't regret my decision but am filled with doubt that this surgery is actually going to work! I haven't lost a pound in weeks and weeks! This forums pretty good for support and information..hang in there!

    protein pills?

Hi there :-) I had a question about protein pills. We all have to get 60-80g of protein daily. I've read all about protein shakes and bars but what about protein pills? I know nothing about them. Anybody know what the deal is?
