I used Infant Gas Relief. It's in liquid form and I doubled the dosage amount. I think I took it quite a bit the first 3 or 4 days post op. It did help. Good luck.

What keeps everyone more satisfied?
AmandaMarie replied to Julie121212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will take pour Egg Beaters into a muffin pan and bake through for 20 minutes. I keep them in the refrigerator and pop a couple at a time into the microwave for breakfast. It's easy and satisfying. Greek yogurt does it for me also. -
I am thrilled that I found this thread. I have laughed all the way through it. I had this happen to me for the first time this morning. I didn't know if I should call 911. It lasted about 30 minutes. I hope to have learned my lesson and will chew, chew, chew from now on. The excess gas has been a problem also. My boyfriend just laughs - although we have been together for 14 years, I don't think I burped or the other in front of him. Yeah, I know - I'm a little weird about those things. Here's to smaller bites!

Suggestions for liquid and how to add protein?
AmandaMarie replied to Singer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't have known it by name either until I got one. It's a stick with a small blade at the end that can be put directly into a pot. Kitchen aide makes one. They can be found at Target. I'm getting a lot of use out of mine right now. -
Reduced appetite after surgery - What Gives?
AmandaMarie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand that the band is inserted without any fluid, yet I know my appetite is significantly less than what it was before surgery. I am day 4 post-op, my diet is partly full liquid and partly mushy. I haven't eaten whole foods yet, but think I will be able to tomorrow. I'm drinking plenty of water (liquids) between meals and I'm making sure I get at lest 60 grams of protein everyday. But I'm still only eating 600 - 800 calories a day. What is causing my appetite suppression if there is not fill in the band? Did others experience this? How long does this last? Your experiences are appreciated - Amanda -
Reduced appetite after surgery - What Gives?

Thanks for the comments. I will consider this a vacation, knowing it won't last. And in 4 weeks I will have my first fill to help bridge the hunger pains. -
Suggestions for liquid and how to add protein?

I feel for you. Here is what I have done: I use the Oh Yeah ready made protein drinks found on Amazon. Strawberry and Banana are my favs and at 32 grams of protein - I'm half way there. I then made Turkey meatloaf muffins (turkey, egg whites, finely chopped bell pepper and onion and tomato sauce). I keep them in the freezer for frig until I'm ready. I heat a couple of muffins with marinara or jarred spaghetti sauce. Once heated through I put it through the immersion blender until it's the consistency of soup. It really tasted OK and I feel I am eating real food. One turkey meatloaf muffin is 60 calories and 11 grams of protein. I eat two at a time. For a bit of delicacy I picked up a seafood bisque at the grocery store, watered it down with 1 can of skim milk and purred it a little more with the immersion blender. That has been yummy also. I hope these ideas help. - Amanda -

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
AmandaMarie replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the information. My typical diet is very protein intensive an veggies - my problem is portion control (which the band should help) my addiction to homemade sweets. The sweets will be removed all together. I've learned that carb strict diets just don't work! This sounds like the perfect alternative. I can't wait to get the book! -
Surgery Tomorrow Morning 5/9/13
AmandaMarie replied to 29Ladybug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tomorrow as well. Lets plan to reconnect in the next few days to compare post surgery results. We can share anecdotes that worked. I wish you the best. -
I'm tomorrow, May 9th. Didn't have to do the pre-op, but had a light meal this evening. No food or drink at midnight. I'm anxious, as my boyfriend pointing out, I'm doing a lot of "nesting" activities. He's at least supportive. I will keep you posted.

Surgery scheduled for Thursday
AmandaMarie replied to AmandaMarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
SP70, StephKing06, and 50for50: Thanks so much for your comments. I am encouraged. Tomorrow is the day. I will keep you posted. And all my best as you go down this journey. - Amanda -
My surgery is scheduled for Thursday. I'm excited but very nervous. How many of you gained weight in the anticipation of surgery? I have gained 10 pound upon my decision. I am more disgusted with myself now than I was when I finally admitted I needed help. I told my family tonight about my decision. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. But of course I'm blessed with all good wishes. I will continue to come back to this site for encouragement as I begin my journey.
