    Post Opp Diet Variations

My surgery was on the 1st. I wouldn't say that I am rushing through the phases, with the exception of eating a scrambled egg. In fact, I think I am following them exactly except for needing the protein of the egg. The rules I posted came from the doctor. Thanks for posting your comparison!

    Hernia repair

I feel pretty good. I have sharp pain in my upper left shoulder when I breathe deeply so that's annoying. However, just sitting around or just walking is pain free. I did have one bad "gas" moment yesterday... for like 20 minutes, the pain was really bad. I tried to walk around a bit and I took some gasex. It passed. Lol, the gas and the pain...

    Hernia repair

They repaired a hiatial hernia when they went into do my lap band on 5/1. I didn't know I had it going in, but they fixed it while they were in there...
  4. I have had chronically low B12 since my gastric bypass surgery in 2004. I take weekly shots at home because I've never been able to get it back to normal. I just got the band on 5/1... but I didn't think that banders would have the same B12 issue because there's no malabsorption due to the rerouting of the intestines. The shots personally don't do anything related to hunger -- but they do give you more energy which might be productive for weight loss. That's my two cents...

    Surgery was on May 1st!

I was also banded the first. My gas has calm down but when I breathe deeply, I get a sharp pain in my left shoulder. I can't wait to "shake it out." I might try this chicken dance/cat crawl thing described here. Lol, if nothing else, maybe it will give me a good laugh and push some more gas out. Hang in there!
  6. I am five days post op. The bruises around my incisions are turning yellow. Is this normal? My rest of my bruises are almost in technicolor.... But I just noticed these yellow ones. Also, I am avoiding the temptation not to scratch my incisions but they are starting to itch. I assume this is just the healing process?

Any other BAND on bypass patients?

I am not sure how to comment from my iPad as a reply, without quoting a post. I'm accepting tips on how to do that. I just had band over bypass on May 1st. First surgery was 2/2004

    Banded 4/26/13

I just had my banding on the first. From what I have read, it is supposed to be temporary and it's because of the gas they put in you when they are doing the banding. The tips suggested walking around to release the pain. Also, one thing I read said that if you had a hiatal hernia also removed, you get more shoulder pain. My pain had been noticeable but tolerable. Walking around definitely helped clear some of the pain. I just got the worst bought of the gas yet. I had some mashed potatoes and went to lay down for thirty minutes. When I got back up,I couldn't pass the gas and I was in a lot of pain. I took some gasex and my pain meds and I am feeling better. Hope it goes away soon(for both of us)
