Thank you for the Chantex information! I haven't heard of it, but I am going to have my husband check into it! -
Thank you for all the prayers and support. I am trying to stay positive. I just can't believe this could be happening. I had a difficult start, almost had to have my surgery rescheduled because of an infection from a molar, had an ER oral surgery a week before my LB and now this. I am a self payer, if I have to have it removed there is no way I could do it again. I just balled all the way home from the Dr. on Friday and now I have to stay positive, it is my son's weekend, he graduated today!! My surgery went so good and I had no problems at all after, no neausa, no pain, nothing! anyway, I'm rambling...thank you for the prayers. I love this site.

I had my follow up yesterday. I have liquid around my port area, Dr. thinks it is blood. He says to come back in a week and he will check it again. Possibly will need to be drained. Possibly will need to have the port and or the band removed. I am devistated, trying to stay positive but can't help thinking the worst. I have heard people with the same problem, could be blood, could be puss, one person had a staph infection. I need all the support I can get.

Thanks Anita,I just love to come here and vent because only WE know how important this is to us! Just around my port area is swollen and he could feel liquid behind the skin, all of my incisions are bruised but I thought that was normal??? Also my port incision is open a little and it was bleeding. He said the port incision was thin. I feel fine and have felt fine since surgery. I have had no gas pain, no neausea, no sore throat, nothing...my belly has been swollen and I just feel like I did a few too many sit ups, but other than that I have felt great. I just can't stop crying! Hubby says don't worry. Dr. K didn't seem too worried, he just said to call immediatly if it seeps. My life is so predictable, so structured...this is really throwing me off! I will put in the back of my head for the weekend because the weekend belongs to my son who worked so very hard to graduate! I will deal with it after the weekend. After all what can I do, it is out of my control. It is just hard to think about. Thanks for being here for me! -

I am so used to my uneventful life. Lately I have been having to face sooo much (at least it seems like sooo much to me). First the tooth infection that almost had my surgery canceled, then I had to have an emergency extraction, my car broke down (cost me $1000.00), not to mention I had a leak in my bath tub and had to cal a plumber...okay today I had my post op check with Dr. K and he said that something was wrong where my port is. There is some fluid, he thinks it is blood. He said to watch for seepage (sp), he also said that if something can seep out, then something can get in and it could cause problems!! I have to go back on Friday and have him check it again. Possibly drain it. If bacteria gets in then it could infect the port which could infect the band which would mean we did all of this for nothing!! BALLING ALLTHE WAY HOME!!!:cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry -

Just about had it with people and negative comments on my surgery!
Mal replied to wadew1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People who are uninformed and have no idea what they are talking about should'nt speak on such topics unless they are inquiring information. I am not looking foward to educating ignorant people on the facts of the Lapband over and over and over. I feel like I want to make copies of the booklet my Dr. gave me and hand them out as I apporach people, then say "okay now what questions and/or comments do you have"? I tried to keep it a secret but the cat got out of the bag (I told one person in my family). I will be facing everyone this weekend for the first time, my son's graduation...not really looking foward to it, but I guess I have to face it some time. Lets stay strong! They just don't know wha they are talking (thinking) about. -

Grumpy or not, it is always nice to hear from you! Thanks for posting what Drews said, that should be a poster, matter of fact I think I'll copy it and post it everywhere. Free yourself from evil scale! You are NOT going to be the 2 percent that fails! This is going to work because you ARE working with it! I am kind of afraid to move onto something I can chew, but it is nice to know that I can if I get desperate. Big weekend coming up. My son is graduating, we have two parties...not real excited about that, my new outfits are tight (I think because my belly is so swollen), I'll be fine if I could just stand the entire time...LOL. Plus all the food that will be in front of me. Everyone found out that I had the surgery, so this will also be the first time I see everyone. I'm sure I will get the million questions and the stares...I wish it were MONDAY!!! STAY STRONG, I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!! -

Thanks for reminding me about the drinking before and after, I guess I was thinking that was for after the fill. Since I have been on clear liquids I hope that didn't matter since evrything was clear. I had some runny mashed t's just a few spoons, and some sugar free pudding and then some scrambled eggs. putting the spoon down inbetween bites is hard to do! I even bought some baby spoons, I am really going to have to work on that!! I see Dr. K on Friday for my post op. -
I am so sorry to hear about your surgery being rescheduled. I know how you feel. You have prepared yourself in so many ways. I know this must be devistating for you, I almost had to reschedule mine, down to the Tuesday before my Friday surgery. I cried and cried. Let it out. Just know that this is not the end, you can and will be able to go through with it. Time is your enemy now, but it won't be for long. God bless and hang in there! I will be thinking about you! let us know how you are doing!

I sooooo hear ya'. I am soo happy to be moving on to mushies today! I just had some mashed T's w/a little gravy very watered down, but YUMMY!!! I couldn't eat very much but it was good. Anything that goes through a straw, but don't use a straw...I'm READY!!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! Dr. K did tell me "just don't vomit for 30 days". But I am such a "rules" kind of person, I guess I feel that if I have rules, then I don't have to "think" too much, just do as I'm told! LOL...anyway, I am sooooo happy to hear that I can move along quicker! I feel like I never even had sugery to tell you the truth, I am a little sore, but that is it! I tolerated clear liquids with no problem! I am just STARVING...well actually my head thinks I'm starving, I'm acutally not very hungry, the Isopure and the Atkins shakes have helped me feel full, I guess I just want to chew!! Anyway, Thanks for the info...YOU MADE MY DAY< WEEK AND WEEKEND!!! -

Drews, I am sure all went well and you are resting now! Anyone~I am now able to move onto the next liquid diet...so basically anything that can be sipped through a straw BUT don't use a straw?? So basically I can throw anything into a blender maybe add a little broth and walah??!! It seems like such a jump from clear liquid hell to anything that can go through a straw. I haven't had anything but Atkins shakes today, I want to be sure before I have anything else. And we do this for a week? then on to soft foods for one week, then REAL FOOD??!!!! This is HELL!!! -

Jeninco, I'm sorry to hear that you are not happy with your surgeon's after care. Maybe they just had a bad day. I hope things turn around for you and all of their other patients! I am so happy with Dr. K and his staff. The surgical center called to see how I was doing and said if I had any concerns to call them anytime. I called Dr. K's office today for my post op appointment and spoke with two different people, when I told them my name, they were very excited and asked how I was doing. -

tahillia, Welcome to Dr. K's thread! I did the samething, I lurked and read for a while and then I decided to just jump in and I am sooo happy that I did! It is soo nice coming to a place where people support you and most of all understand what you are going through. The advice and support is amazing, I don't know if I would have followed through without the support. I wish you the best in your journey. I wish I would of had this opportunity at your age! Folllow your dreams, make them happen, you deserve to live a hppy life!
