Do you get on the scales a lot?
Mal replied to deneicy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to weigh myself once a week, but a lot of the time I end up weighing every morning. Sometimes I weigh myself in the morning to put my mind in the right place to start my day. Once, I thought my scale was broken (it just needed a new battery). I felt more at ease NOT knowing. I try to see my surgeon once a month and I thought I would just weigh once a month there, but that didn't last! So I guess I fluctuate sometimes every morning sometimes once a week. SCALES ARE EVIL!!!...LOL -
Once a month, I am on my 6th fill.

Aloha to my RR Banditos! I am going to have to bail for tonight...sorry! I have been in a funk lately and I just feel like blahing...long story short, I started taking a new medicine and my mood has been very BLAH! I will mention it to my doc and see what he thinks. I'll try to meet up with the Banditos next month. Woofay can you photo shop me in the group picture....LOL! I'll miss ya'!!! Cheers! -
Give it some time, sometimes my fills take anywhere from a couple days to a week after to feel a difference. My doc doesn't require liquids or any restrictions after a fill. He says to be cautious. Good luck.

Dynamo~You have a very important issue. I am interested in hearing what your therapist has to offer. I have been there before (on one of the many short term diet successes). I truly think it is the attention, that people notice part of you is gone. I remember feeling as if all the sudden I was re-introduced to the world as a thin person. We had just moved to a new area, so no one knew me as an over wieght person. The attention, the public treatment and the compliments were overwhelming for me and I think that is why the weight came back (that time). I remember feeling resentment toward people because they were so nice and they seemed so "in my face". I was not comfortable with it, I found comfort in being "invisible". I know this might be an issue again, although my social life is more limited than before. Compliments are hard for me also but then I become annoyed when close friends and family that I don't see often don't say anything.....uggggh, what are we to do? we KNEW the "head" part was going to tough. we shall discuss more Thursday night. Good topic! Tied2b~You have been on my mind. How did your appointment with Dr. K go? I remember my belly being swollen for about three maybe four weeks after the surgery. I started Journal, but that only lasted a few days. now I just journal what I eat and my excercise oh yeah and my measurements (I moved the weight numbers to the very back, those numbers drive me koo-koo). Keep us posted on your recovery! I am so happy for you! linzchavez~tomorrow is your big day, we are thinking about you. Post when you can and let us know how everything went. you already know that you are in SUPERB hands! Woofay~How is the job treating you? I just love your hours. I am up at 5:30 and done at 5:00.....LOOOONG DAY!!!! But I do get a nice 2 1/2 hour break in the middle of the day, so I can't complain about that, plus I get to play all day! I hope you can make it Thursday night! Later mi banditos! -
Treadmill VS Elliptical
Mal replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted for the elliptical. I have a treadmill too (I don't use it, should sell it). At the gym I use the Elliptical and the bike, the treadmill became too boring for me. -

Good Morning Banditos! I went to visit Dee last night and she was doing great. She had some pain but her nurse was right on top of it. she said she was neauseated when she first woke up after surgery. I hope she made it through the night with no problems. She looked fantastic and had a wonderful outlook! YIPPEEE She is banded!! Dee~We are awaitng your posts!! Woofay~Sounds like you are going to enjoy your new job! The hours sound PERFECT! I need those kind of hours! Marcy~Congrats on the dinner! Your hard work paid off. I also enjoy reading your posts. Lap~I went on your myspace and checked out the sign language song...I LOVED it sooo much (my hubby didn't dig it so much, I think it was the song, cuz he wasn't watching it). That was crazy cool! I admire your proffession. I am fascinated by it. I know very little sign language. I searched the local community college for courses last night! I doubt tht I will ksign up for classes, but I would LOVE to some day! My son says to tell you that you are "really cool"! Hope all is well with everyone! Thanks again for the well wishes! New news...no shingles and I am feeling mucho better, going to the gym tonight! -

Hola Banditos! Thanks for all the well wishes, they are working, I am feeling better. I went to my Doc and he checked my urine today and siad it was clear. I have been shakey and weak all day, he checked my blood sugar, it was 80, so he told me to have a piece of candy. I am still achey and feel a bit weak, but I feel soooo much better than Saturday (yesterday I was in bed all day). My Doc also said he doesn't think the rash on my back is pre-shingles...yeah! Thanks again....I hope I NEVER exerience that again! If drinking a gallon of water a day will do it, then I'll drink a gallon! But my doc said he thinks 80oz a day should be fine. Dee~I am going to try to visit you tomorrow after work. I will be thinking about you! All will go well my friend! Dynamo~I understand how Todd would have nightmares...whenever I think about how horrid that pain was for me, I cry! I am so terrified of feeling that pain again. Does Todd have something he can take if he feels it coming on? GAWD I wish I could have a shot of morphine on hand just incase...would'nt that be nice. Honestly do we ever have to suffer? ooooo, the ice sculptures in Brekenridge...I'll send you this email I got today...beautiful! Marcy~your hubby must be SUPERMAN! That is incredible, he had to wait a week??? I did have a CAT scan, the ER doc mumbled something about crystals...I was kind of out of it...thanks to the morphine...he also said drink lots of water which I have been, so I guess its gone? I have pee'd soooooo much! I just want to feel normal again, no more aches, shakes and weakness...blah! I'm impatient! at least I don't have shingles!!! Yahooo! I didn't think I could be THAT unfortunate! Thanks again mi banditos! Lots of positive thoughts sent to Dee!!! -

Yeah, how lucky am I? Kidney Stones AND possible Shingles to come?!! ugghh, I wasn't stressed before, but NOW I am! I told the doc, my immune system is fine, I haven't been sick for along time (knock on wood) and stress? I'm not one to stress too much about anything. Thanks for the info, I will add my Benefiber to my water and drink lots and lots! -

bahot~I can't believe you passed tham at home! How often do you get them? I am just stunned by this entire thing?! I told the ER doc that no one in my family has ever had one, I take 1000mg of calcium supplements a day and I also drink at least 80oz of water a day? So why did this happen to me? He shrugged and said that many people get them, just to increase my water intake. I am annoyed and scared, very scared! I am going to my PCP on Thursday, I hope he can give me more info (I also see Dr. K, maybe he wil be able to shine some light on the issue as well??). I hope you never get another one~I feel your pain! -

Mal replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dynamo~I am doubting that I have shingles, I think the doc was wrong on that one??? I will keep a watchful eye on the rash he found though. Brandy~TWICE?? OMG!! how far apart were they? I am soooo terrified to go through that again. What happened when they passed? did you have to go to the ER? How did you feel after? I feel like someone punched me in the back on both sides and extremly exhausted! Thanks for the prayers. I honestly thought I was dying a painful death. I cry just thinking about what happened and thinking that I would hate to go through that again. -
I spent the day yesterday in the ER with what the Doc said was Probable Renal Colic. THE WORST PAIN EVER!!! After some morphine and three bags of saline, an EKG and a CAT scan, I was sent home with Vicodine and instructions to drink more Water. I already drink at least 80oz a day, he said continue to drink more and see my PCP in four days. Today I feel like someone punched me in the back on both sides, but nowhere near the pin I was in yesterday. I hope no one has to experience that excruciating pain...terrible! I plan on filling a gallon picture of water and finishing that by the end of each day. oh, yeah and the Doc also said he found a rash on my back that ppears to be the beginnings of Shingles! I pray he is wrong!!!!

Thanks for the well wishes mi Banditos! I didn't sleep much last night. I think it was the vicodine and I kept anticipating the pain would return so I would watch the clock until I could take another. I feel like someone punched me on both sides of my back (sore, but nowhere near the pain I had yesterday). I am doubting the Shingles. I will watch the rash that he found (it is on my back, so that will make it tough). After researching about the Kidney Stones, I am wondering about those too??? I didn't have any neausea, no vomiting, no blood in the urine, no stomach pains. I only had terrible back pain on both sides, so painful that I couldn't breath in without trembling with horrific pain??? I truly thought death was knocking at my door! Morphine is a miracle! anywhoo~~ Lap~glad to hear that you are feeling better too. I have issues with my scale. When I thought it was broken (needed a battery), I was kind of relieved. I'm sure your gain will not be there when you weigh in a week. Your dedication to working out and eating healthy WILL pay off. and thanks for sharing the article. I am/was a little of each type! (hopefully more of the WAS)! -

Thanks LA~it went from an achy back to full blown "OMG, I'm gonna die" in about 30 minutes! Just barely enough time to load the car (thank goodness my hubby was with us) and head straigh to the ER. The most bizzare and awful experience of my life! I guess it or they have passed through the kidney. I am so scared of not being on the pain medicine, I fear the pain will still be there... How in the world does your friend live with having this? I want to be on morphine for the rest of my life so that I will never feel that kind of pin ever again! -

OMG!!! I just got home from the ER!!! LONG story short I had Kidney Stones! I have NEVER cried nor been in that much pain in my life, I literally thought I was dying a very painful death. AND the Dr. saw a rash on my back and said it looked like the begining of Shingles!!! GAWD what a day! and I was supposed to be in Winter Park taking my boys snowbording, but instead I was at a park in Denver watching them snowboard (I feel so bad that I had to cut their day short). Thank goodness we didn't go to WP! I am on morphine and vicodine and something for the rash. But I am at home in my bed with my Buster and hubby trying to relax now. has anyone ever had Kidney Stones before? I am absolutly terrified of it happening again! -
I also stack my envelopes by size before I mail them. I also read magazines from the back to the front. I used to only turn right when driving and never go on the highway. I pull my sleeves over my hands when pushing a shopping cart. and I always seek out the emergency exits whereever I go This is a fun thread!

Tied~I hope they give you VIP suite too! Heck, if they can't treat their staff top notch... 30-40 minutes on the bike...NIIIIICE!!! I have a problem with being on any piece of equipment for that long. My attention span is not that long ~ I either get bored or like on the bike, my butt starts to hurt! I hope all the "sickies" are on the road to wellness -
Hi, Welcome and WOW, congrats on your losses! This is a fantastic place to come. Hope to see more of you around the threads.
