1. SOUTH EAST MICHIGAN!!! Hi everyone, I Cay I'm 21 yrs old have always been over weight but for the past to years things have gotten worse. When I was 19 I discovered I was pregnant an I weight 193. I gaine 60-70lbs during it an once I had my son I lost almost 40 then ny body decided to gain weight and hold that weight. I am currently 263.5 the sane weight I was when I was 9mons pregnant with my son that was 2yrs ago since the day I realized I gain every oz of weight back I have tried diets up the ying yang an diet pills and workouts. With no weight loss at all. Even went to my doctor for the past 2yrs to try different pills to help me lose weight and did test to find out why my body wouldn't lose body fat. Everything has fail and I am very depressed about my weight so I've decided on the Lap Band surgery I have a doctors apt May 22nd 2013 to hopefully try to get approved for the surgery I will do whatever it takes to get approved or will pay for it outta hand myself if need be. I live in Monroe MI. And would love to talk to people in the area who is either trying to get Banded or that has been Banded. And how much you either paid out of pocket or how much your insurance paid. And what doctors you recommend. Again I'm 21 I'm 5'5" my BMI is 44.9 and I weight 265.8 sadly Thank you so much for taking the time out to read my short story.
2. Got all my paper work today from my insurance and weight watchers!! I can start this week which I am going to on Thursday morning I am so excited to start but also really nervous honestly, I have to do 6 months which is 24weeks of WW, which will be broken up into two sessions and I have to attend at least 10 out of 12 meetings. Which ill be trying to go to all of them. And with each session I will need to lose 13lbs which is 26lbs in the 6 months (24wks) so I figure by November 28th I will be completely done with my weight watchers and I should be getting banded in December or beginning of January at the latest. so happy still can't believe this is really going to happen.

Starting WW this week!!!

Oh wow really, did that bother you? They are also assigning a nutritionist to me as well for each week to help with meals during WW and for when I get banded, everything is all paid in full as well for me, I'm definitely gonna take advantage of everything so I can reach my full potential
4. Well guys today has been the best day of my life in the past 2 1/2 yrs I just found out that I've been fully and completely approved for the lap bad surgery!!! Everything will be paid in full by my insurance(: All I need to do is do the weight loss program before surgery, which I am fine with it will help me so much in the end. I will be doing 6 months of WW and will ne the Lowe 10% of my excess body weight which is only 26lbs, I have to lose that much and nothing less. But if I lose more I am still able to get my surgery no matter what I could lose 50lbs and still get the surgery!! Which is awesome guys. I will be banded by my 22nd birthday which is January 26th that will be the best birthday gift ever!!! I legit cried when they told me ill be getting the surgery no matter how much lbs I lost during WW and that everything is going to be paid in full! Words do not describe how I feel omg omg that's all I can say!! Starting weight: 261.8 End of WW GW: 235.8 Lap band 1st GW: 200lbs Lap band 2nd GW: 175lbs Lap band 3rd GW: 155lbs I wanna reach my final GW by my sons 3rd bday next year in September! Which will be 8-9months of being banded hopefully!
5. Thank you everyone and yes I know but I rather set my odds higher so if I do fail ill work even harder to make that goal, and 9 months will just be my banded months I'm starting my journey now so really its not 9 months to reach 100+ lbs its more like 1yr and 3months = 15months all together to reach my goal of 155lbs

one step closer/test results/paperwork

Thank you, I'm also hopping I won't have to do a full 6 months of WW, I'd be fine with doing 3 months or less. I'm happy I got an early start just mean ill have more time being happy, healthy and skinny lol.
7. Today I went in for the results of my blood work, and to have the paperwork signed and faxed to my insurance to start Weight Watchers then meet with a surgeon and schedule my surgery are the next step. Its still unreal I'm way excited!! My blood work wasn't too bad but not 100% good, sadly. My testosterone lvls are high, my thyroid lvls are high and my risk for heart related issues are high as well. My doctor has referred my to a thyroid doctor for everything. And she believes that these could be related to why I've gained all my pregnancy weight back so fast and can't seem to take it off. And why I've always been over weight my whole life which is kinda a relief to know but she isn't 100% sure which is why ill be seeing a thyroid specialist. But my insurance paperwork has been signed and is being faxed as we speak yay!! I'll be calling my insurance tomorrow to talk about when I start my weight watchers and if ill be doing the full 6 months of not. I am so excited guys. I have one more step then I will get banded even tho it'll take 6 months till I reach the next step its well worth it. I figure ill be banded by my 22nd birthday!!! Also btw I lost 4lbs on my own in a week omg I've never been able to lose lbs on my own I'm so proud of myself I'm at 261.8 from 265.7 go me!!!

Paperwork!!

I'm happy to say that I've received my paperwork from my insurance stating that they pay for my weight watchers and surgery. My doctor will need to sign this paperwork FAX it back to my insurance and then I start my official lap band journey!!! A month should I did not think I'd be a step closer on getting my surgery this step will be a bit longer but it's totally worth it I'll learn new eating habits and a better lifestyle before I get surgery which I am actually happy and excited for. Blood work in the morning then to my doctors to make a appointment for my results:)

APPROVED!!!!!!

Congratulations!!! That's awesome keep all of us updated on everything.
14. Well I found out I qualify 100% for weight loss surgery. My doctor agrees based on everything I've done to try and lose weight and failed at, also found out I gained 2lbs but that's okay. She recommended a surgeon as well. Ill be getting blood work done to check my hormone lvls, cholesterol, thyroid and sugar lvls. Also called my insurance today and the cover the surgery in FULL and they also said I more then qualify for the surgery. They just sent out the paperwork today for me to take to my doctor and have sign then I can start the process on getting my surgery!!!! I will have to do 6months of weight watchers tho which they pay for as well. Found one in my city that's a plus! Told me I would have to lose 10% of my body weight during that 6month period which is only 26lbs. If I make it close to that ill still be able to have my surgery!! I'm so have beyond belief guys! I can wait 6months its only a short time for the rest of my life to be happy, healthy and in shape!

Weight Watchers

So I had my first doctors appt towards getting my surgery, and one I got home I called my insurance based on that appt.I got to talk to someone one on one and was told I fully qualify for weight loss surgery and that they do fully cover it as well but I would have to go threw 6/mons of weight watchers. I am required to lose 10-13lbs each set of 12wks which is 20-26lbs once the 6months is up. The meetings are only once a week and last 30-45mins and I have to go to 10 out of 12. There is a local one in my town yay! Also can go Saturday which is perfect for me even better! My BMI 44.2 I weight 265.6 :,( I'm 5'5" and I am 21yrs old. Has anyone else been told to do the weight watchers before you can meet a surgeon or schedule a surgery date. If you are going threw it now how are things going and if you're already done it it go by fast and did you learn anything that will help you once you get banded?
16. dream_small2013

so happy appt went great!!

I still can't believe this is gonna actually happen. By my 22 birthday in January or 2014 I will be band!!!Even tho that'll be 6-7months away I know its worth the wait and having to go threw 6months on weight watches will help me in the long run with my lap band. And ill give it me all but I'm not gonna let myself lose more then 20-26lbs during the 6months of weight watch only because I don't want them to say oh well you did so good with that how about you don't get banded and just keep with weight watchers. Because I know that once I try to lose this weight just with that its gonna be so hard. And I won't be able to keep it off at all. But if I had the band and did weight watchers I could get the weight off fast and keep it of because ill have the extra help that I need more then anything
17. Ugh you guys I'm so nervous. Tomorrow I go in at 8:30 I'm the morning to talk to the doctor about weight loss surgery. I've been a little confused on what one to get now tho. I've researched all 4 and two seem to be the best but I wanna pick the perfect one. Also I've been hearing that ill be automatically qualified due to me BMI which is 43.9 and also because I have PCOS, acid reflux. And that weight problems (obesity), heart problems, diabetes and strokes and great attacks run in my family as well. I also took online test (multiple) to see if I am a candidate, which I answered 100% honestand everyone said I was. Same with all the videos I watched that help you decide which surgery is best and if you qualify. (which were made by offical doctors) and everything says I qualify 100% My insurance also does cover in full for the surgery if I qualify and if I have a BMI between 35-40 I'd have to go threw 6mons of weight loss thing and if its 40 or above I don't have to. Ugh I just don't wanna get my hopes up just incase I don't get coverage or qualified :,( I can't sleep at all my mind is going crazy!!!
18. dream_small2013

Tomorrow is my first appointment!!!

What insurance do you have by the way and what was your BMI when you went threw all that if you don't mind me asking
19. dream_small2013

getting nervous appointment is wednesday

What insurance do you have and what was your BMI lvl
20. Omg I'm so excited and nervous for my doctors appointment on the 22nd. Been eating super healthy the past 3wks drinking tones of Water eating fruit an veggies Ect with not weight loss nor gain :/ hopping my doc apt will go perfect and everything will fall into place. Also have questions about lose skin, what's the best way to make sure lose skin doesn't happen. And if it does happen do insurances cover tummy tucks for lose skin caused by weight loss surgeries? Please tell me your story the good and the bad I wanna know everything.
21. Oh wow 200lbs that's amazing. Go you(: I'm hoping if I get approved (if I don't ill try till I do) I wanna lose at least 65lbs which is weight from ny pregnancy that I couldbt lose that's my first goal, then 100lbs then the most I wanna lost it 120lbs which would make me weight 143lbs but if I can't reach that ill be perfectly fine with losing up to 100lbs its my main gold. And I agree completely with taking lose skin over body fat any day, definitely easier to hide lol. And did you pay for your tummy tuck or did your insurance pay for it. And how can you get insurance to pay for it.
22. So for those of you who have decided on the Lap Band surgery and that have Medicaid who has gotten approved for full coverage for the surgery. And if you havent how many times did you get denied before you got approved and how long did it take, also do they cover tummy tucks for lose skin caused by LB surgery?
23. Stay strong you'll reach your goal just keep moving forward an stay positive(:
