The lapband does work and im proof!!!
ADJL replied to hellokitty2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look fantastic...especially after having TWINS! Amazing. Great job. -
You didn't mention it, but are you exercising too? It might be that you just need a change of pace for you to break a slow loss plateau. Even do some calorie cycling if you are into that. The reality is that if you are eating only a cup of food...even with drinking water you will keep losing weight as long as you are expending more calories than you are eating...but too little food will slow your metabolism and make your body think its starving (thus hoarding your fat)...follow your nutritionist guidelines for calories and types of food and you'll be fine.

Weird trivia of the day...the guy that invented the plastic lawn flamingo? He and his wife have worn matching outfits every day for the last 35 years. Now that is LOVE. (or craziness...)

I had three women in the group with me that were approved by tricare for the sleeve. So, they do approve the surgery...maybe just not for everyone?

Great goal! Mine is late night snacking...it's habitual...not hunger.

How incredibly cool is that?! You look fantastic and I can't believe you climbed that wall...awesome victory for you!!!

Wow! the difference is very clear! Great job! -
Mary - I would add that you don't have to make every change all at once... take baby steps. Start with changing something you know you are doing "wrong" like eliminating a specific food or late night snack...or add in something right like a walk after dinner... Too much change at once can be frustrating so be gentle with yourself, but push yourself too!

So what about straws?
ADJL replied to juliecatherine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no straws. Went without for about 3 weeks then started using them again and have had no problems at all. My doc told me that its for air issues and also the sucking can cause issues when you are first banded...like too much pressure on the stitches or something... I showed up at my fill appt with a Water bottle with a straw and he didn't say anything. So I take that as consent. -
I was just telling someone the other day that I've spent 4 of the past 5 years NOT seeing my husband due to deployments/training, etc...so I'm used to this...one of our favorite Army wife mottos "sexually deprived for your freedom..." He has not and will not see any progress pics until I see him at his mid-tour leave. It will have been 9 months since he left and 7 months since I was banded. I'm really working toward a total of 75 pounds lost. Ambitious, but I'm motivated.

I was banded April 24th. I'm curious when you all are getting your first fill? Mine is scheduled for June 7th. I'm excited bout it as I can eat anything I want. I'm working really hard on being good with NOT indulging...I'm hoping even the first fill might help with that.

Girl! That double chin is gone! Heck yes you can see the changes. You look fantastic! Great job!!!

It was a breeze. My doctor is fantastic and the only one of the three bariatric surgeons at Ft. Campbell that is authorized to do lapband. I wonder if the process is different here. I never even heard a word about tricare authorization at all. They essentially told us in our first seminar that because we'd been referred by our PCM and met the "requirements" that we were set. The only thing that could have stopped it was the psych eval. Anyhow...I had a rough first few weeks after surgery because of the Vitamins. My body went on strike against them...basically dryheaving for hours/day. It took some figuring out, but once we got it pinpointed to the vitamins and I stopped taking them I haven't had a single problem since. I'm at about 6 weeks post op now and have dropped 25 pounds...just had my first fill on the 7th which also went great. So far I'm really glad I did this. I'm feeling optimistic about my "skinny" future. Yours is coming right up Royalrags! Good luck!

Originally from Oregon, but currently living in Ft. Campbell, KY about an hour from Nashville.

I have Tricare prime SW - I had to do multiple bloodtests for Vitamin levels/blood sugar, etc. I didn't have to do the diet either. I started the process with a referral from my PCM at the beginning of March and was banded April 24th. BTW...in the seminars that I went through there were people approved for lapband, sleeve, and gastric. At least at Fort Campbell there was no restriction on the type of surgery. I could have chosen any of the 3 that I wanted once my PCM referred me to bariatrics.

I had the same experience with my first fill. I was expecting...I don't even know what...pain, discomfort. Isn't it a relief to find out that it brought neither!

I hope you heal quickly and well!

I have no idea what might be happening with your knee, but I do think you should go see primary care if it still feels that way after a week or 10 days. This is great advice. If you start working it too early you could hurt it further...water exercise is smart.
