One drawback to not drinking with meals...
ADJL replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love thai food! I haven't even considered spice with no liquid because everything I eat now is so tame! Thats pretty funny though...I'll keep that in mind when I finally venture out for some spicy curry! -
What an awesome accomplishment! congrats on a great NSV!

ha ha ha... Or you could be the shake Nazi..."no shake for you! 2 weeks!" Love Seinfeld.

I'm impatient today. Impatient to see more progress. I know in my brain how this works, but after a week of really good caloric intake and hard kick butt exercise you just want to see some progress, you know? I'm frustrated that the visual cues of hard work are not showing...on the scale or in the body. I'm frustrated that I can eat whatever I want and as much as I want. I'm frustrated that my self will is not always as strong as it should be in my food choices and amounts. I'm not giving up, but I'm just a little peeved at my band right now. Like I feel like it should be doing just a bit more work than it is. ha ha ha. I've got big goals to achieve...just feeling a little grumpy about backward progress or none at all right now.

I'm glad its not just me or some weird thing with my band only. I do need to remember to hydrate a lot more before I exercise. I also drink my Protein shake about 20 min. after finishing exercise...that seems to work pretty well as its liquid and satisfies the eating part of my breakfast/protein needs. Thanks!

I have 33cc's, but no real restriction in my band right now. I've had just one fill and can eat anything, but when I am exercising its like the band seizes up on me. It makes it hard to swallow Water even. Its ONLY when I exercise and after I've cooled down the feeling goes away. Anyone else experienced this? Tips tricks to keep it from happening?

I have an appt for July 5th. I cannot WAIT. I'm going to ask Dr. to be a little more aggressive this time than he was last time. We'll see if he agrees...

I love reading this thread. Not posting because while we tried to make a go of it...the 4 year old can't keep up yet...so I'm looking to add a bike trailer for her with the baby in the seat behind me since he's too little to be in the trailer still. I'll be lugging around an extra 60 pounds and we won't be doing any century rides anytime soon, but at least I'll be biking!

I felt a little like that this weekend. I don't feel restriction in my band yet and it was a stay at home weekend so i found myself prowling around the kitchen and pantry just looking for anything to eat. It took everything I had in me not to just EAT EAT EAT... 185 pounds is absolutely amazing...focus on the positives part of what you've accomplished. And stick something up on your fridge or on your kitchen cupboards whats a big reminder to you about where you want to be. For me...I found a hilarious pinterest picture where someone wrote, "Step away from the fridge, fatty" on their fridge door. Sometimes we need that kind of giant visual kick in the butt to remind ourselves that we have a bigger goal in mind and our little instant gratification isn't worth it!

Yay for positive scale progress that you can see...and isn't it great when it comes at the right time to help our motivation!

Fill last week and feel no restriction
ADJL replied to lologard44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first fill was 3cc's...I feel no restriction either. My doc told me I had to wait at least 4 more weeks...kind of like easing myself into more restriction, I guess. I don't know if I'd go right before vacation either...at least not until you were better versed with how your band is going to work for you. -
ONEDERLAND!! Woohoo!
ADJL replied to littlerockbandster's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
YAY! What an awesome feeling that must be! And way to go on losing all your pregnancy weight plus some!!! -
Yep. I was taken completely off all the vitamins because they made me dry heave. Doctor told me that we may want to revisit it later and if my B12 comes back low he's going to make me do the B12 shots, but I don't take any vitamins at all right now.

Question about weight loss before fill?
ADJL replied to Judy Robinette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this idea. I think its true that our vision of success will change over time. I just had a fill and I have loss less than when I did right after surgery...I just keep telling myself that it will come...patience... -
Congratulations on your weight loss! It is funny that people assume large weight loss is equivalent to being sick.

I'm originally from Oregon...and its gorgeous there. Portland really is central to beaches, mountains, lakes, desert, skiing, etc. The beaches aren't warm though. I also love florida...but its a way different kind of beach than Oregon.
