I had the same problem with my first fill. They couldn't find the port. Tried three times then went and got a longer needle and tried two more times! Finally she found it, not where they usually find it, so we measured to make sure the next time it would be a breeze and it was!

I use anti-inflammatories every day for severe arthritis. My doctor said he uses them the day of the surgery and could see no problem for me taking them. I use Arthrotec.

I had my first fill last Friday. I now have 3 cc's in a 14 cc band. I had to do fluids the first day and soft food for a day or two after. When I ate normal foods I was so hopeful to feel a difference, but like you, I didn't notice anything. It has now been a week since my fill and tonight I was eating the same type of food that I had before and got stuck! Wow, was I surprised. My nurse had told me that with some people it could take up to two weeks to notice a difference.

I was actually given an anti-inflammatory the day of surgery and after. I am now on Arthrotec and Tylenol for Arthritis which the surgeon said I could take.

Does anyone have the 14 cc band? I am 3 weeks post op, no fluid in the band, and feeling hungry most of the time. I was wondering if anyone else experienced that? I am not yet scheduled for a fill. I try to stay to a cup of food and eat what they recommend with the protein, etc, but I end up feeling hungry an hour later. I then have a fruit, later more water and then a little later maybe something else like a fat free pudding. Is it possible to stretch my stomach above the band even though I don't feel any different?

Apparently I have to go for a week or more eating normal foods. I just finished last week having soft foods. Then I will look into it. I just don't know if it's head hunger or if I am really hungry. I 'feel' hungry but I am trying to learn if it's real hunger or not. I made the mistake of eating some mangos which were a little tough and about and a few hours later my stomach felt a bit crampy. Not sure what that was about. Wasn't sure if it was the fruit sitting above the band or just arguing with my stomach. With that thought in my head I was wondering if I 'don't need' a fill???? Confusing.

Sounds familiar. I originally had the 10 cc, did a lot of vomiting, they removed the fluid, still the same, three days later they 'unhooked' it. Two months later they hooked it back up, same thing again, so the took me back in (same day) to have it removed and the 14 cc put in with no fluid.

I'm struggling the same as you. Banded May 24th, eating what I should be right now which is just starting soft foods but I struggle with hunger. I think it's probably 'head hunger' and eating just mushy food (now soft), but it is hard! My band is empty as well and is the 14 cc one. I haven't got an appt. yet for a fill. I wouldn't be able to get a fill for another 3 weeks. I am not sure what I should be feeling. After I eat I experience burping to some extent, a tight feeling in my throat and sometimes I sound like I am getting a cold when I talk which clears after about half an hour. Not sure if that means the cup of food is too much or if it is the way it is after eating for me. These feelings makes me think I shouldn't get a fill but then I am hungry! I'm glad to hear there is someone else feeling similar.

Same here. 10 lbs after surgery and still holding too. But I think 10 lbs. is great too. 23 lbs. since May 23rd is awesome!

I too am still having the shoulder pain. I am 6 days post-op and feeling hungry. Not sure if it's head hunger or actual hunger. I am finishing fluids and to start mushy foods in the next day or two.

I am on day 4 and just spoke with the nurses at the clinic who said I could try and take my meds now without crushing them if they were not too big. She also said if they give me problems to try again in a couple of days.

I was banded Friday and had some serious shoulder, neck and jaw pain as well. It would go into spasms really bad. It's still there today but not as severe. Using the heating pad and Gas-x. Hope you're feeling better.

Are you very hungry or is that part okay still.

Not sure why now after all this time, but my largest incision has a pin hole in it and is bleeding. The incision looks alittle dark and red. I a surprised as to why now after all this time of no problems.

I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday. So I guess I will put antibiotic cream on it and find out more then.

Wish I lived closer. I have to drive 3.5 hrs to get to Mississauga. Would love to be able to get together. Guess I will just have to keep checking the board to see how everyone is doing.

That's great. I am getting my band 'hooked up' on May 24 at the same clinic.
