    Cold feet!

My revision is scheduled for April 29th. Being informed that the chance of complications is higher when revising because of scar tissue, etc.. I'm getting super nervous! I didn't have a care in the world last time, but this time I have a 19 month old and the thought of leaving her for an extended period of time (ie. complications) makes me really anxious. I'm getting cold feet now. Please talk me back in to it! Remind me why I am doing this please!

Which dr is doing your surgery? Dr Harrison is doing mine. I don't think I got enough pre op time with him to ask all of my questions and to ease my mind but I think it's too late at this point with my surgery being next Monday.

    Cold feet!

Thank you guys :-) I'm just going to keep re-reading your comments over and over until I go in to surgery. Thanks for helping me remember why I started this journey in the first place. I know that my daughter will be much happier in the long run if I can run and play with her. You're all wonderful :-)
  5. Hi everyone. I'm fairly new here, just been lurking and absorbing everyone's posts. My surgery date is 4/29. My story is pretty much just like everyone else's. Banded in oct '08. Lost 70 lbs over the first year and a half. By jan 2010 I started having issues with almost everything getting stuck and reflux. Totally reduced my diet down to full liquids, which is no way to live. I've had fluid taken out and put back in for years. Got pregnant and had the fluid taken out dec 2010 and haven't had it put back in since out of fear. Every meal is painful and I vomit every day with NO fluid in my band. So I opted for the revision to the sleeve. I'm not afraid of surgery. I trust that my doctor and the hospital staff know what they're doing and have done this many times over. I do, however have a 19 month old this time around. My biggest fear is to have a leak post op and either be in the hospital for days/weeks or worse. My daughter is such a mommy's girl and the thought of not being with her for an extended period of time kills me. So now im super nervous. Especially since being told that the leak rate is higher for revisions due to scar tissue from the band. So my question is, did anyone here have a leak? Or on the other hand, please tell me how smoothly everything went for you if you didn't. I guess I need to here stories to settle my mind.
  6. Hi. I'm new to this group. I currently have a lap band (Oct 2008) and am completing the program to have the band to sleeve revision. Since having the band I've had a baby who is now 16 months old. So I'm a month or two away from surgery and my biggest concern right now is post op activity allowed. Am I going to be able to take care of my daughter post op? When will I be able to pick her up again? She's such a mama's girl and won't be able to handle me not being able to hold her. Help!
