I love Crystal Light myself although a friend has advised me that it makes you retain Water. I don't drink it often as I drink more unsweet tea than anything else! I would like to start but I am afraid that I will retain. Anyone notice this at all??

I don't think that Curves is weight baring. I started a month ago at Curves and have had good success with it. It has made me so much more energetic. There aren't many machines in Curves that require weight to be put on your feet. Most Curves will give you a week free to try it out. I would definitely recommend it! Good Luck!

I was told that the carbonated drinks can cause stretching of your band and to stay away from them completely. I also have had a rough time in getting the minimum 64oz of Fluid per day. I would say that I am at about 1/2 that. I bought a Dasani Water the other day which was 33oz. I figured if I could drink one in the AM and one in the PM, I have achieved my goal. Well, I think the first day I got the first 33oz down, and probably 10oz in the afternoon.

I was banded 4/24/07 - a month before my 29th birthday. I have never felt better. There has been rocky roads in the past 6 months, but I am finally achieving loss regular again. Discipline is your most important rule.

My port is very close to the skin as I had a tummy tuck 1.5 years prior to this surgery. I guess mine may be easier to access as I don't have much tissue over my port. My first fill was under fluro... a bit of discomfort at first but it was something different. I did get a spray of some kind of numbing agent for about 20-30 seconds before the Dr. stuck me. I just got my second fill last week and other than a bit of pressure, I didn't even feel the needle. It was great!!!

I am already down 2 pounds this week!!!

How soon after surgery have u returned to work?
kris9678 replied to lucy22884's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If eating the proper amount in 3 meals per day, you should not even be hungry to eat any more than that. If you are, then an adjustment is needed. What does your doctor consider a small meal? -
I always told myself that I would never do the bypass... too risky and too many complications. I know a couple of people who have succeeded with it, but then again, I know those who don't. The band is so much less invasive. I had surgery on 4/24/07 (Tuesday) and was back on 4/26/07 (Thursday). I had hoped to have surgery on a Thursday to allow a full weekend to recover. The worst part of going back to work (I have primarily a desk job) was overcoming the anesthesia. It takes a good couple of days for it to clear your body. By Friday, I was 100% back to myself again. If you had asked me a couple of years ago (before knowing about Lapband), I would have told you I would never do it. After finding out about Lapband, I jumped on it. It is so much healthier to lose the weight over a course of time (1-2 pounds per week) that to lose it in 6 months. Gastric is definitely malabsorptive where the band allows you to still obtain all your nutrients Lapband is a tool... it is a total lifestyle change.

What happens in 20 years.....?
kris9678 replied to Painter Girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I questioned the same over the past couple months, especially when people would ask 'when do I get it removed?' My biggest concern was how my life is at the current time and how it would be if I didn't have this surgery. If in 20 years the band has to be replaced, I know that it would be worth it. -
My doctor advises to refrain FOREVER from all beverages with carbonation for the fact that it will stretch the pouch.

I tried to get any and everything that I could possibly want prior to starting my two week Protein shake diet. I know exactly what you are going through. Since I decided to get the LapBand (late January), I think I have been trying to get the best of food!! I don't want to think that I can never eat those foods again, I just won't be able to finish the whole thing anymore.

Best of luck to you tomorrow!! I am not far behind you (4/24).

How much weight did you lose on your pre-op diet?
kris9678 replied to pinkybar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires a high Protein, low sugar liquid diet for atleast 14 days prior to surgery. They gave me a list of "Shakes" that were allowabe. I can also have three servings a day of sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles or sugar free fudgesicles. It has been hard and I have cheated atleast once per day. Although each "cheat" was not a full meal and it was always something healthy. I have 8 days until surgery. I think I have lost about 3-4 pounds since starting the liquid diet. Although my surgeon didn't say that I need to lose, they did say that I cannot gain. I still think that they want to see that you lost some weight to show that you followed the rules. -
Hi Everyone! My scheduled date to be banded is set for April 24th. Today I weaned myself on to the liquid diet. I hope I can get through it!!!! Anyone else being banded in the next month?

Hi Everyone! I have been interested in the LapBand for about a year and half. In the past 6 years since having my daughter, I have been battling with my weight. I don't even remember what it is like to be thin the way that I used to be. Finally this past June I went to a seminar to find out more information about the procedure. I had never in the past considered weight loss surgery an option for me until I gained an additional 50 pounds since January 2006. So, today was my first meeting with the surgeon and I am on my way to success!! My surgery is scheduled for April 24 and I am very anxious to have my "old" body back. I look forward to talking with others and hearing about experiences.
