I actually ended up getting 1cc last Thursday and I finally feel the band! I was looking at other people's weight loss and how many cc's they were getting and I was feeling kind of bummed out last week. Thanks for all of the positive and encouraging responses!

I swear by Wacoal bras. They can be more expensive, but if you find some on sale they are the best. They have the thicker cup to make the girls look more rounded and your nipple won't show through. I am a 38DDD (think I've shrunk, but not ready to buy new bras yet) and I can always find my size. I also second the Lane Bryant Bras. They carry the 'smaller' sizes like 36DD online. I would also highly suggest you go to the bra department of a good department store like Macy's or Nordstroms. They have women who will measure you and determine the actual correct size for you, many of us are wearing the wrong size! Good Luck

June 2013 Bandsters - How are you doing?

I got a 1cc fill (finally!) on Thursday and I can totally feel it. Things are looking up! -
Maybe she meant a hiatal hernia? Call the office in the AM and ask to speak to your doctor's nurse so you can know what is actually going on. Good luck!

June 2013 Bandsters - How are you doing?
beanie80 replied to LessLee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am really struggling fellow June bandsters. I feel like I'm stuck at a plateau and have been having a difficult time with head hunger. I'm still exercising a lot, but I also think I'm eating too many carbs and it has brought my weight loss to a crashing halt. Anyone else struggling at our 2 month post-op point? My fills are excruciatingly small and I feel like my band must be broken. Kind of down in the dumps tonight -
Anyone else banded on 6/26/13??
beanie80 replied to Rola77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded 6/26/2013. I have lost 20lbs since being banded but nothing in the last week or two. I am feeling kind of defeated since everyone else on here seems to be losing so quickly and consistently. I have had 3 fills of 0.5ccs each, so I have 3.5 in a 10cc band. -
Survey: How many cc's did you get in your first fill?
beanie80 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm curious: How many cc's did YOU get in your first fill? How many cc's do YOU normally get per fill? I know every doc and every pt is different, just curious to hear. I'll do some math and put up some averages/statistic etc. after enough people have responded. Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd. Thanks in advance! -
I had my first fill this morning. It was no big deal at all. I barely felt the needle going in, and it was out pretty quickly. The whole thing took about 5 minutes. It was so easy and painless. Good luck!

Had my first fill and it was super easy! Took all of 5 minutes. I have a little over 3cc's in my band. I was hungry when I got to the appointment, I'm not hungry at all now. Yay!
-
I have my first fill tomorrow morning at 8am. I was curious if your docs allowed you to eat before your fill or not? I wasn't told not to eat, but I didn't ask either and now it is too late to call. Not sure what I should do
-
Thanks everyone! I'm going to play it safe and not eat before. I will be on the liquid diet for a couple of days afterwards, not looking forward to that again. I just hope the fill helps to cut down my hunger!!

Very active before lap band, worried about endurance post-op
beanie80 posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was very active before I got the lap band. I went to spin class twice a week, walked 3 miles twice a week and worked out on the elliptical once or twice a week. Since getting lap band I haven't been back to the gym (only 6 days post-op now). Was anyone else like this? I'm curious how long it took for you to get back up to your regular stamina in the gym. I feel weak now and like I would pass out in spin class. -
I am 3.5 weeks out from my surgery and feeling pretty good. I've started exercising again and had a meeting with my nut last Friday. She told me I should be eating around 800-900 calories right now and not be hungry. I'm not sure if she forgot/didn't know that I have absolutely no fill..... I am hungry! I ate 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 cup of high protein Greek yogurt for breakfast and I didn't even feel full afterwards. I won't get my first fill until August 1st (I'm going to call tomorrow and ask if I can come in sooner). I am officially in bandster hell. I'm keeping my calories around 1100 (what my nut said was my upper limit) and I'm exercising daily (walking for 45 minutes fast or spinning or elliptical) but I'm hungry and cranky all the time. How did you all get through bandster hell? I just need some tips to get me through until I can get a fill! Sooo hunnngggrryy

Very active before lap band, worried about endurance post-op
beanie80 replied to beanie80's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I ended up waiting 3 weeks before returning to spin class. I was kind of slow at first and it was weird because my port starting hurting about halfway through. I just took it really easy, but still enjoyed myself. At the two week mark I did some walking, but nothing strenuous. I still haven't done any abdominal exercises and I probably won't for a couple months. -
Embarassed to even post... but desperate for support!!!!!
beanie80 replied to Faith-ster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know you said you are currently in therapy, but is it with an eating disorders therapist? I did several months of work with an eating disorders therapist before I was banded (due to binge eating also). I haven't binged since before I was banded. Best of luck -
help- pre-op white blood cell count high? not cleared for surgery
beanie80 replied to aug13hereIcome's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the abscess is the most likely cause of the elevated wbc's. It takes a while for antibiotics to work. Did the PCP who drained it take a culture? sometimes we treat infections by what is most commonly found in those types of infections. For example, if you had a wound that we thought was infected with MRSA we would treat it with antibiotic A. We would give you the antibiotic that treats MRSA and send you home. When we got the culture back it could say you didn't have MRSA in it, but it was a staph infection. We would need to change your antibiotic because different antibiotics treat different bugs. Does this make sense? -
Alcoholic Beverages...
beanie80 replied to Cwalband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More than wine?? I've heard both NSAID opinions. None every again, and none for 4 weeks after surgery. Also, a single glass of red wine is supposed to benefit your cardiovascular system. Normal American red wine glasses are a lot larger than a glass, so you need to be careful! -
Cduval04--did you go to the doctor? are you doing ok???
-
Mine was about 35 minutes. I did not have a fatty liver or any complications/co-morbidities. My BMI was also 34.8 when I went in to surgery, so I guess I am a borderline 'low BMI' bandster. Everyone is different so please overestimate the time when you tell family/friends waiting for you. They will watch the clock and if you aren't done exactly when you said you would be they will be worried sick.

Can you do a half day? Do you sit at a desk all day? tell us a bit more

Your bariatric care provider would be the best person to answer this question. Best of luck.

Black, granular vomit is blood. I see it a lot with a GI bleeds. You need to call your doctor immediately.

I'm getting this strong pressure

I second Mrsinto. While you are waiting to hear back, take some Gas-X and start walking. A heating pad to the affected shoulder helps too. -
Had 2 big things happen today. First, I was able to get back to the gym for spin class for the first time since surgery and second, I saw my nutritionist. Getting back to spin class was a big deal for me. Pre-surgery I worked out 4-5 times a week. Spin class was at least twice a week, and something I really love. I have been missing it for a while. I went to class like normal, but toned it down a bit. I'm normally really pushing myself to go faster and harder each time, but today I took it kind of easy. I'm sure that doesn't sound like a big deal to most people, but it is very hard for me to 'take it easy' with anything. My port got a bit sore mid class, but it was fine. It was so good to be back in the saddle! I had an early morning appointment with my nutritionist today. She is nice, but it drives me a bit crazy that she looks like she has never weighed over 110lbs. She does know what she is doing though, and is very good at her job. As many of you know I've been posting about not losing weight recently. I've been pretty frustrated and unable to determine what I am doing wrong. Well, I was told today that I'm not getting enough carbs! That is a first. I guess getting enough protein has been drilled into my head so hard that I kind of forgot to get carbs. She also told me I should be keeping my calories between 800-1100 and not eating my exercise calories. She printed up an example menu for me and I'm going to try to follow it the next two weeks and see what happens. I have my first fill on August 1st and I feel like I already need it. I ate 1000 calories today waaayyy to easily.....
