  1. I just heard from the insurance coordinator that she just submitted everything to the insurance company. Now the waiting game begins. She said it can take from a few days to a few weeks. And they schedule 4 weeks out. So... If I am lucky enough to be approved the first time around I am looking at surgery some time in June. Hopefully anyway!

    Liquids.......

Hot Peppermint tea (caffeine free) was one of the few things I could get down and stay down the first few days - it went down easier than water even probably because it was warm.... I put one Splenda in it just to sweeten it a bit and honestly though I was never a big tea drinker I've started having at least a cup or two today to get me started on my fluids. Plus peppermint tends to soothe nausea so I think between that and the warmth it really helped me get through the first few days. Hang in there
  3. That's kinda what I was thinking but it's such a scary thought! But I'm in the medical field and should know enough to realize my body is in starvation mode and holding onto everything rather than dropping the weight since I'm at such a low caloric intake. Thanks everyone for the reassurance
  4. Wondering the same thing here... I'm days post-op and other than 3 pounds I lost day 3 (I was back to my day of surgery weight by day 2), the scale hasn't moved at all. I am getting all of my water in and btwn protein shakes and isopure I'm hitting about 70g of protein a day - hardly taking in many calories though bc I'm on all liquids. I keep hearing about the 3rd week stall but what about the first? It's a bit frustrating - I'm persevering but also wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

    Surgery Tomorrow Morning!

Good luck tomorrow! Sending you positive thoughts for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery see you on the losers' bench!!!
  6. Well I just wanted to give everyone an update. I was sleeved at about 3 o'clock this afternoon. When I woke up in recovery at 445 I was in a lot of pain that took awhile to get that under control unfortunately. I also started to walk around and do laps so I'm hoping that will help a little with the pain some. i'm pretty groggy from anesthesia as well as pain meds but hoping tomorrow be a better day! Hope everyone else is hanging in there and has a good night.

    1st day with the sleeve!

Thanks everybody! Day 2 and most of Day 3 were challenging for me as I had a nasty migraine that we couldn't get control of - making the belly pain considerably worse since I had dry heaves from the migraine and related nausea. So happy it's day 4 and the migraine is gone! I'm still quite sore but doing MUCH better - I even slept for 5 hours straight last night. Got all of my liquids in yesterday but it was a challenge so that's my main goal for today as well... Hope all the other June sleevers are hanging in there

    1st day with the sleeve!

Thanks everybody! I go for my 2nd leak test (they did the first in the OR I believe) at around 630 this morning. If all goes well with that I can start some clear liquids and take a nice shower and put on my pajamas from home which is bound to help me feel better I truly appreciate all the kind words and encouragement - thank you all!!!

    Hello Everyone!

Congratulations on starting this journey! You'll find there's a lot of good information on this forum from folks going through what you are... Good luck
  11. Mine was a little over a month - I met with the surgeon on May 2nd and finished all of my Pre-op clearances (blood work, H. Pylori test, NUT consult, letter from my primary doc station my weight loss attempts and joined a bariatric resource program my employer required) by May 10th - it was submitted to insurance that day. I had my sleep study to rule out sleep apnea on May 15th while waiting to hear from insurance. Insurance approved the surgery on May 20th - they scheduled my surgery on May 23rd for tomorrow, June 5th and I started my all liquid Pre-op diet on Sunday, May 26th. I did all of my Pre-admission testing etc last Wednesday the 29th - bloodwork, respiratory consult, X-rays, ultrasound, EKG, another NUT consult and meeting with medical doctor who cleared me for surgery (about a 3.5 hour appt). And here I am now - surgery tomorrow (I need to be there at 12:15 and surgery is scheduled for 1:45). I was very lucky though that I didn't have to do any other supervised diets or NUT consults...

    2 week pre-op diet?

I'm with you! Today is day 2 of my 10 day Pre-op liquid diet (my surgery is scheduled for June 5th). Cooking dinner tonight for my family was the first time I felt really challenged - though I was kinda tired and somewhat hungry before that even but I'm hoping tomorrow will be easier. Hang in there everyone - we can do this! Just think about where we're headed

    Please help me!

Try and hang in there - I know it's hard... I'm on day 2 of my Pre-op (3 shakes a day plus unlimited SF Popsicles, jello and broth) and I want food, lol. So I keep drinking water and lots of it if you have to cheat from all liquids I would recommend some of the choices already mentioned like yogurt. You can do this!!! Just keep the end goal in mind

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

Hi, can you please add me - my date is June 5th
  19. My surgeon's office just called - they gave me a June 5th date which is less than 2 weeks away and WAY sooner than I expected (not that I'm complaining one bit!) - I start my 10 day Pre-op diet this Sunday. I think I'm in a state of shock, lol. I can't believe it's really happening
