  1. I should amend the above... When my ex asked the girls what kind of surgery, they actually said they weren't sure what its called and to ask me. What I first wrote made it sound like I told them to lie.
  2. I am divorced with 3 children. Daughters that are 9 and 11 and a 16 yr old son. I told my son and he has been involved with the entire process. He was even my driver for the surgery. I really do not want my ex-husband and his wife to know because then everyone on the PTA and soccer team and so on will know. So I originally told the girls I was having a stomach surgery and it was no big deal. Finally, as the surgery got closer I ended up telling them that the surgery would help me lose weight. They were so, so excited and started talking about shopping and all that. I made sure to never say the word "Lapband." I then explained extensively that this is something that is private and it's ok for families to have things that are private. I explained how important it is to not tell even one friend. They've done great. My ex even asked them what kind of surgery I was having and they said they didn't know. I really think its a judgement call and depends on the individual child and their maturity level.
  3. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  4. Absolutely. I did not have a hernia and no prior surgeries. I also know that Days 2 and 3 could be worse. Just relieved the unknowns of the surgery are over and on the road to this next chapter.
  5. I had my surgery at 11:00 this morning and feel so much better than I expected. I was ready to sit up and walk right after I got into recovery. Yes, the incisions sting (especially the largest one) and I feel a lot of pressure from the gas, but it's tolerable. I've been walking since I've gotten home to try to get that gas to dissipate. I'm just so pleased with how the entire process went and very glad to have this part over!
  6. I am supposed to have my surgery on 4/25! However, I just got a call that my EKG was "moderately abnormal." I have an appt with a cardiologist in the morning. My nurse sounded hopeful that this would be resolved with a normal EKG and we could proceed on Thursday. I'm nervous, excited and REALLY hoping I haven't been on this liquid diet all for nothing!
