    Excersise

Just windering if any of you have had good success with the band with little to no excersise? I have a degenerative disease of my spine where it deteriorates rapidly n alot of days I can't even do a normal amount of walking for every day life.. im hoping once some of the weight comes off n possibly relieves some extra pressure on my spine I will be able to vigorously walk, but for now.. its not gonna happen. Im not lazy at all its just physically impossible for me. Any thoughts or experience?

    Excersise

Dawalsh sorry to hear you also have a disability, but at least according to your posts you've still lost weight n that's great!

    Excersise

Hazelsbliss thanks so much for the informative post and im sorry to hear of your ongoing issues but I am also glad im not alone. My spine has no stability, im in severe pain every day, pain patches, pills, and many many injections is how I live my life, so I completely understand. I am hoping for some relief once some of the weight comes off, I am determined to jump on the excersise wagon when that happens. But like I said for now just trucking along hoping for my low cal diet n the band to be enough. Thanks so much for the support!

    Excersise

Excellent responses, thank you all. My spine gets worse month to month n I will need spinal fusions to prevent my vertebrae from breaking, my dad has had his 7th surgery for it (genetic disease that he gave me) so i know what I have to look forward to n want to get as healthy as possible before that time comes so I have purchased an excersise bike n free weights etc, I don't plan to sit around and do nothing! just didn't know if it was do-able without alot of excersise. So glad to hear these stories!! I've lost 30 lbs since june 3rd pre-op n 2+ weeks post op so at least it's a step in the right direction, hope I can keep it going

    I am soo hungry

Sugar free pudding and nonfat yogurt are considered full liquids n approved for that phase. Someone with consistency. Also any cream soups strained or blended help fill you up.

    New feeling

As far as the protein shakes go, try Unflavored Unjury protein powder you can add it to any food or drink. I had to get it because i couldnt stand the thought of drinking another shake! Unjury is what my surgeon recommended and alot of others. Unflavored is 90 cal, zero carbs and 25g protein. I gladly add that to my mashed potatoes, yogurt, etc to get the protein in, anything but the shakes!

Can you help me with these?

I just ordered Unjury unflavored protein. The thought of taking another drink of a protein shake made me seriously gag. The unflavored powder can be placed in any drink, or food, cottage cheese, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc. Im thrilled to never drink another shake. Yack!

    Post op question

I am 10 days post op today n my lap band issues are fine. Barely any soreness, I can sleep in any position I want. No problems at all. Able to get up/down with ease. I recommend take your own cooler with your allotted foods/liquids.

    Calf muscles sore

If the calf pain persists get it checked, could be a blood clot in your leg. I have one n it broke off n traveled to my lungs so I have blood clots all through my lungs, life threatening situation. I've been in the ICU. It's nothing to mess with.

    Lung pain

    Glad you got checked!

    Lung pain

I was banded June 13th. Had left lung pain, couldn't take a deep breath since surgery despite doing my incentive spirometer. found out I have multiple pulmonary emboli (blood clots) in both Lungs which is life threatening, along with a clot n my leg and partially collapsed lung on left side. Been in ICU now for several days. If your pain does not subside or you become short of breath like I did please go to the ER!

    Blood clot

I'm 6 days banded and went to the ER last night, I have a DVT (blood clot) in my left leg. the funny thing is I walked n walked n walked some more, even did foot pumps when I thought about it, just goes to show how even though I went above n beyond what was expected to stay mobile i still got a blood clot with having no history of it. Just wanted to give a heads up to any newbies that it's so important to stay extremely mobile even though your uncomfortable to avoid set backs like this. My leg hurts so bad I can barely hobble along so just another ailment to add to the start of my journey. Also was wondering if anyone has had painful trouble breathing? I've been short of breath and haven't been able to take a deep breath since surgery although I've still been doing my incentive spirometer. The left side mid ribs is the worst pain, with taking breaths, maybe the tubing or port area I'm not sure??

    Blood clot

Yes I'm a nurse and worry about pulmonary embolism, I've talked to my surgeon today n waiting on return call. I also have quite an extensive history of pneumonia. Could be eitheri guess, was trying to blame it on howi slept wrong :/

    Nausea meds

I have zofran solutabs that dissolve they are the best, although I can honestly say I never used any n never once was nauseated before or after surgery, and I was terrified of the thought of nausea! Maybe you'll be a lucky one n not need it. Good luck.

Anyone Try The Rx Phentermine And The Band?

I lost TONS of weight n I mean tons on phentermine. Like 70 lbs in 4mths easily.. Just the pill cuz it makes you not eat. I am not banded yet. Phentermine is the reason I'm getting banded because I got a taste of skinny with that prescription about 6 different times n guess what gained every bit back, every single time plus some. THE DAY the pill is out of my system I'm starved n you know how the story goes from there. Totally a miracle drug for say needing to fit into a wedding dress or something for really short term use to drop weight quick, but its not gonna change your life n keep it that way I promise you.. exactly why I turned to the lap Band option for a lifetime change, not just a solution to be temporarily skinny

    Cost of fills

Thanks, I'm gonna do that to be sure. I don't mind paying if need be, but insurance is definitely a bonus!
  20. ShantelleElaine

    Cost of fills

Are fills generally covered under the insurance if the surgery was covered? I guess what I mean is, my surgery is paid 100% after my deductible is met, which it is, and it includes post op/follow up care... Are fills considered follow up care I'm wondering.. Any experience with it?

My Journey Starting With Pre Op Diet

I have blue cross/blue shield PPO blue. It is so exciting to hear that your approved and my deductible is already met for the year so I will have no out of pocket expense throughout the whole process. Very grateful.

Wonderful to be "banded" together :)

Thanks! Good luck to you as well.
  24. I am just amazed at this site, I have been just quietly reading all the informative posts. Everything I ever wondered about lap band has been discussed on here. I have such decreased anxiety about surgery after reading all the posts of what to expect. Especially the consistent reporting of the post op left shoulder pain, if I hadn't joined this site and read that I would've probably thought I was having a heart attack! Knowing what to expect is so helpful and empowering. All the nutritional suggestions and trouble shooting you guys do is amazing. Its so nice to know that after my surgery I can come right here and get answers to the many questions I am sure I will have. I am a nurse, but lap band is not my area of expertise and I am just so thankful I have people to turn to when I start this journey! June 13th can't come soon enough
