Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
chubbsey1 replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I waited about a month after surgery. No complications. I used to drink beer too fizzy except for Guinness, I stick with bourbon I usually make manhattans or vodka with a splash of pineapple. I can have about 3 drinks before I'm blitzed. I drink twice a week. -
Bourbon or whiskey no problems and low in calories.

Pre vs post op diet...prepare yourself! (This is somewhat of a rant also)
chubbsey1 replied to MrsDixon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand where your coming from Mrs.Dixon it is a tough process and I agree that some folks here sugar coat things a bit. Kid gloves do not work for everyone nor does everyone have a great journey. Sometimes I feel like you where I say to myself damn I wish I could go back to the way things were but if I did that I'd still have a my health issues. It's a double edged sword and I understand that, IMHO people need to hear the good, the bad and the ugly before making their own decision. Therefore I have been brutally honest with my friends who are interested in this surgery. Good luck and hang in there! -
New to forum, Introduction-Question
chubbsey1 replied to wab111's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi William, I have coronary artery disease I had two stents placed in my heart with a 99% blockage in one artery and 80% in another and I have similar co morbidities as you. Basically in order to get the surgery I had to get an additional clearance from my cardiologist he was very supportive of my decision. Good luck! -

Surgeon Recommendations for NY/NJ area
chubbsey1 replied to rg2688's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes you should look for a few things for example, Is your surgeon affiliated with a bariatric center of excellence (http://www.obesityaction.org/educational-resources/resource-articles-2/weight-loss-surgery/bariatric-surgery-centers-of-excellence-why-they-are-important-when-selecting-your-surgeon-and-hospital) Does the surgeon you choose accept your health insurance if you have any. I personally used NYU Langone medical center in Manhattan they fit my criteria and also were recommended by my Primary care Dr. They also have offices in various parts of NY including one office upstate I believe. My surgeon was Dr. Christine Wren Fielding she is in my opinion excellent. Good luck to you on your journey! -
Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

Just for Men: How long did it tak you to get your brain and stomach back in syncronization?
chubbsey1 replied to Nikasio's topic in The Guys’ Room
Thanks Nikasio, disconnect is an interesting way of phrasing it I definitely agree I'm 3 months out and this resonates big time. I'm never really satisfied with a meal I think it's a psychological adjustment IMHO because I'm not really hungry when I eat I'm not really satisfied with a meal almost a little depressing no? -
I have to try your recipe it sounds yummy!

What healthy protein snacks do you have?
chubbsey1 replied to VDB's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements

Yes the same people that make hummus can't remember the name off hand make an eggplant purée called baba ghanoush it's pretty awesome or just google it for a bunch of recipes.

Tortilla or Bread?
chubbsey1 replied to kcdavidson42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 2/17 personally tortillas are little easier mission makes a low carb one that's also very high in fiber. -
I'm about 3 1/2 months out, it gets less yucky Lol hang in there and try your best getting your protein and liquids in this is still a struggle especially the liquid! Good luck.

Just recently quit smokung
chubbsey1 replied to perk4756's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit in 2012 using e-cigs after receiving two cardiac stents, sad but I still miss cigarettes and smoking a lot but I know I did the right thing health wise and a pack of smokes in NYC are darn near 13$ bucks a pack which in itself is a deterrent. -
