and BMI less than 50 -
I get home from the gym at 10:30 p.m. I usually shower and go to bed. I don't eat and if I don't stay up long, I don't get hungry. However, would it be beneficial for me to eat a little something to get my metabolism up? I'm thinking a 100 calorie yogart.

Dr. Cohen's 1st Personal Diet I was at the club and was accosted by a young lady in there about this diet. She said that she did this diet and it increased her metabolism/lost 30 lbs, ect. Sounded to me a little like the Dr, after the blood test, prescribed to her the south beach/atkins diet. Anyway, I guess a 390 lb guy on the elyptical does attract attention. Has anyone else heard of this? Tried it? or do you think it's varience of the south beach. I'm thinking if it was documented to work, my dr would have done this for me.

Springfield Area Bandsters?
chinatrain99 replied to Midwest Carol's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my bmi is 60. have to be 50 before health alliance will do it. i have to lose about 70 on the 6 month diet. gonna be tough, but it's a short-term sufferage. i've done it before, just can't keep it off. maybe, knowing that i only have a 6 month struggle, i can do it... -

i'm talking to my primary care tomorrow. will see what i have to do for health alliance. i believe i need a bmi of 50 or less. i'll have to lose weight, 65 lbs, to be eligible. i'll also have to use dr hammer in springfield. -
I have a bmi of 60 and can't qualify for LB because I need a BMI under 50. Got my symphathy on this one. I hope your pre-op diet is successful!

At least that is what the flyer from the Dr's office said. Some of the requirements are a BMI less than 50 and a 6 month "I can change" program. It also said on the flyer that 30% of Lap Band surgery's require a follow up surgery in a 5 year study. I knew when it would become available, I wouldn't qualify....to fat for weight-loss surgery... I have to lose 70 lbs to get it done. Look for a flyer in the mail soon if you're covered by Health Alliance..I'm sure it will be coming in their newsletter.

Any experiences with Health Alliance out of Champaign IL
chinatrain99 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Health Alliance that is based out of Champaign IL. I know that Carle hospital out of Champaign does bothe gastric and the band. Health Alliance covers the gastric but not the band. Has anyone went up against Health Alliance on this or have any information that they would be willing to share? Thanks! -
Read an article where scientists claim that Oolong tea helps burn fat. I've heard them say the same thing about green tea. Anyone got any opinions on this? Does one work better than the other? Can you get Oolong/Wu-long tea in a regular grocery store?? Is a Oolong/Wu-long/green tea better for you to drink than just plain old water??

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?

I'm not banded. Just enjoy monitoring the site. Not sure that I'll have it done. My insurance doesn't cover the band and I'm not sure I've hit the last straw to make me to go out of pocket.
