I am 32 years old, married, have 2 kids, a full time professional and a mom and wife. My life is very go go go.
After having my kids, I was very dissatisfied with my body and could not stick to a diet and have no energy at the end of the day after working all day and then caring for my kids to then go exercise. So I chose the lap band to help me portion control - my problem was I was over eating but overall eating healthy just to much food. I paid for my surgery myself because I was not obese enough for insurance to cover it. Paid $10,800 for the pre op, actual procedure and first year of post op.
I had the lap band surgery on 4/25/13. The surgery went well, the first 2 days were uncomfortable but by the 3rd day I felt much better. I did not have a bowel movement for 5 days but then everything went into regular motion. I took a Gas-X which helped with the left shoulder pain and chest discomfort I was told was due to gas.
2 week liquids - very hard. I found a protein shake (ready made since i hate the powder) Atkins brand is the only one I liked. It has a chocolate and mocha late flavor that I can tolerate. 15 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar each - not bad. I also tried the Trader Joe's one - yuk and hated the others I tried as well. Just the Atkins for me - i bought them at Target.
So it is now day 5 after surgery - I am down 10 pounds. I have about 50-60 more to go, that is my overall goal.
starting weight: 210
current weight: 199.5
goal weight: 150
