  1. Welcome to banded life! The sounds you hear eminating from your belly and soon your posterior will be constants on this journey and tend to increase with higher Protein levels. We're sure you will find these unpleasantries worth the outcome. Please keep hands inside of the car at all times and no flash photography. Thank you.

    SLIDER FOODS

The soup was a slider because it's full of sodium, carbs and it doesn't stay in your system long. Other sliders for me: Cereal (hot or cold) and the norm - milk shakes, chocolate, Cookies...everything that got us fat to begin with.

    How many days off work?

To be honest, I have a desk job and I needed a full week. I had my surgery on a Wednesday, I felt a lot better by Saturday and went to work on Monday...mistake. I was not ready for sitting up for more than a few hours and had to go back home at lunch time. I went back the next day and I was almost able to make it the whole day...but by Wednesday, I was completely ready.

    Disappointing Weight Loss

Oh sweet grasshopper. You must be patient with yourself. The results will come, stay the course and keep your eye on the goal. And NEVER ever compare your results with anyone else's, it is a recipe for disappointment and could hold you back. Your body is responding the way IT wants to, give it time.
  5. The sleeve results in more rapid weight loss but I have to be honest, all of the complications from the band are nothing to worry about. Fewer complications, less down-time, less invasive and completely reversible were my main factors in choosing which WL surgery to have. I am also a True Results, Houston patient...I may have seen you at the center yesterday as I went for an adjustment. Word of advice: the BEST surgeon anywhere is Christopher Reilly, MD. at NW Houston Medical Center. He is one of your options at TR and I highly recommend him. My surgery was flawless and my results are incredible.
  6. I'm starting to wonder if I am developing a shopping addiction, I have bought at least one article of clothing for myself about every other day over the last month or so. I believe it's justified since I've lost so much weight and could no longer fit anything I had, but it is starting to concern me. I love clothes now and as long as it's in good condition it can be hand-me-downs, thrift store, clearance center or off-the-rack. I've read that people sometimes replace one addiction with another one. I was addicted to food, I wonder if that hasn't translated into an addiction to shopping. I'll keep an eye on myself and try to scale back to maybe twice a week, then once a week.
  7. Yesterday was horrible, I had a severe bout of vomiting and it all but terrified me. I couldn't keep anything down and at first I was afraid I'd slipped, then the confirmation that something else was at hand when the other end got started. I was so afraid that I would or had hurt my band (the vomiting was uncontrolled and heaving "violent") that I called an got an emergency appointment and was seen this morning. After a barrium swallow and x-ray, I was relieved to see and hear that my band was "perfect". I opted for a .5cc unfill to be on the safe side, I don't know how long this is going to last and I don't want to risk doing any damage in case it should happen again. I'm going back to get the .5cc in two weeks, I just wanted a bit more flexibiity for the time being.
  8. Yes! I was exhausted and was worried about how I was going to make it home from work. I haven't felt like that in ages! Drenched in sweat, crying, makeup and hair all over the place...not a good look or feeling on the job. LOL

    Silly question

I had vomiting spells yesterday and it was really unpleasant, I can't imagine going through that regularly. Are you really full-on throwing up or just PB'ing? Either way, it sounds like you are too tight or you're not eating properly - but regardless, you need to seek medical attention. I was so alarmed that I went as quickly as I could this morning, thank God it's just the stomach flu and even after all of the painful heaving, my band is undamaged. Do be more careful with yourself, you sound way too comfortable with your situation.

any open lesbians intersted in doing fatkings?

This sounds cool, I'd never heard of the show before. Not a lesbian, but it would be nice to be on a WL panel.
  11. I do! Dr. Reilly at West Houston Medical Center, Houston, TX is phenomenal, I couldn't have placed my life in better hands.

    Rant!

Comparison is the thief of joy and here is the rest of my two-cents: A. She's not a friend. B. Be happy for her, but pity that she feels the need to put you down. C. How do you know you won't be as successful, if not more? D. With such rapid weight loss, what does her skin look like? E. You did what was right for you. F. Rapid does not always mean more effective. G. Do you feel better? H. Do you look better? I. Are you getting better? J. Who suggested the band for you? Doctors often know best. K. Find new friends. L. Look forward to the day you shop for your goal sized clothing. M. Be at peace with yourself and your life's condition. N. Don't forget you are losing weight, at the pace your body wants to. O. Meditate - see yourself as you wish to be, not as you are. P. Remember that you deserve happiness. Q. Take it easy, this is a life-change and it doesn't happen overnight. R. You are worthy of all good things. S. That's all I have for now...

    Great Little Packaged Lunch!

    Nice! Thanks for sharing!!
  14. I KNEW that was the problem! LOL
  15. I've noticed a few things over the last month or so: I can eat more, I'm hungry more often, I was 1 lb from goal and skyrocketed back up 6lbs because I'm making poor food choices. I've come to the conclusion that I've drifted out of the green zone and back into the yellow and I've scheduled an adjustment in about 10 days (the soonest available). I always get so much more than a little saline on those visits because being held accountable for your progress or lack there of makes you own your choices and be more mindful of how you are treating your body. I have a new resolve...I've done much better today than I have in a week or so with my eating and I feel the difference.

    Really need the PROTEIN

Protein shots and greek yogurt are about your best alternatives when it gets to that point. Good luck to you...I've been there. If you can't stomach the protein shot straight, add it to Water and make it into a juice beverage.

    Bye, bye Lap Band

Good luck, but this doesn't have to be goodbye! This is a WL community and although we have different procedures, encouragement and praise are universal.

    Fear of OFF DAYS

Whatever it takes to keep you on the right track. You've got the fever, that's good baby gym rat. Let that fear motivate you and nothing else. You're doing well...you will continue to do so because it's obvious excercise is a priority for you now. Way to go!
  19. People who have opted for more drastic surgeries will tell you all sorts of anti-band myths and stories. Truth of the matter is, we didn't undergo something irreversible yet are being equally successful in our weight loss journey. How many sleevers and bypassers will admit that they can't stop losing weight and often look sickly when they reach their goals? Do Al Roker and Star Jones with their freakishly big heads ring a bell to you? Meanwhile Randy Jackson (American Idol) and Monique (Comedianne) have bands and their bodies are in nice proportion and they are healthy. Don't let people scare or pressure you into something more extreme than is necessary. I've always been told to opt for the least invasive procedures possible. In the event that the band does not work for you, you can always opt for a more permanent solution. Please note: although with the sleeve, most of your stomach is removed, it can regenerate (although weaker) over time and with over eating. Keep these things in mind when weighing your options. I have friends with the sleeve who wish they had gotten the band.

    Cheating the Band

Thanks for your support everyone. This is a phase I'm going through and it's mostly psycholocial. I am not going back, I'm pressing forward and doing what I know is necessary to maintain and I'm in it to win it. The things I was craving and eating make me sick to think of right now, so I think I'm over it.

    Cheating the Band

I can't blame it on sliders...I can eat whatever I want and quite a bit of it.
  22. Thanks ladies...fortunately enough, it's not effecting my finances but I don't want it to start to either. I'm very frugal and if it's not a deal, I'm leaving it behind. I think I'm just about done though, I need a couple of things for spring/summer and a pair of sandals and...LOL
